Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained at Research Facility E-47-███, which is located near ████████, ██████ in Northern Scandinavia. This facility has been equipped with a 4000m3 room designated ████████ for containment of SCP-XXXX. This room is constructed per containment protocol CP-22.3.2.
Multiple Class D personnel are assigned to guard SCP-XXXX on a rotating six hour schedule and must be able to directly observe the entity at any given time. Said personnel are to be armed with weaponry capable of generating light at a level of at least 4000 Lumens, commonly called LDWs (Light-Diffusion Weaponry) and the appropriate head-gear to counteract the impairing effects of said weaponry. In the event that SCP-XXXX shows any sign of aggression or attempts to escape containment, personnel are instructed to notify the Site Director immediately.
At no point is SCP-XXXX to leave a well-lit area. As such, SCP-XXXX's containment facility is equipped with high-powered LED lighting per containment protocol CP-47.2.1.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid entity standing approximately 3 meters tall with a typical humanoid silhouette. Where SCP-XXXX differs from the typical humanoid entity, unusual height notwithstanding, in it's apparent physical makeup. SCP-XXXX's form is almost entirely shrouded in what appears to be a smoke, save for a black cloak, and a silver, faceless mask. SCP-XXXX seems to generate this smoke on it's own, as no source for the haze has been observed.
SCP-XXXX typically wanders it's room and displays normal humanoid ambulatory motion. Additionally, SCP-XXXX does not appear to need any form rest or sustenance, Local legend and folklore speak of an "all consuming shadow" that can devour souls, however, SCP-XXXX has not currently displayed any aggression towards Foundation personnel, spiritual or otherwise.
SCP-XXXX demonstrates an acute sensitivity to light. Any level of light above 1000 Lumens has been observed to pacify the entity, and possibly even cause it some degree of discomfort or pain. Due to this reaction, it is believed that light can incapacitate or neutralize the entity, should the intensity of the light be of a certain level.
SCP-XXXX has, however, displayed a certain level of aggression when in the presence of low-light environments or shadow, particularly when in the presence of any type of life-form. Research and observation has suggested that SCP-XXXX, when outside of containment, is capable of exhibiting stalking behavior similar to apex predators, such as panthers or wolves. SCP-XXXX is also capable of "jumping" from shadow to shadow, seemingly at will. The means of this "jumping" is currently unknown.
Foreword: SCP-XXXX was brought to the foundations attention when a medical report from █████████████ was presented to the local authorities. Upon receiving this report, Sgt. ████████ reported the findings to Foundation operatives. The report details the death of a woman, approximately twenty five years of age. The cause of death was ultimately undetermined, however, the woman was described to be in a "deep comatose state," and "cold to the touch," though typical life signs were present. Interviews of family and friends detailed no signs of illness; physical, mental, or otherwise.
Investigation Log XXXX-Γ-003
Field Agent E. ████████████: Investigation log XXXX-Gamma-003. Date: ██-██-████. Time: 21:45. Agent ████████████ reporting.
Today I made a breakthrough. Researching medical logs from the local medical facility has yielded the exact symptoms that ████████████████████████ experienced after the encounter. The comatose state is unusual, given the victim's normal life signs, however, their initial report failed to note the complete absence of pupils or irises in the victim's eyes. Additionally, it should be noted that while the victim was missing her pupils and irises, the eyes remained completely intact. No signs of incisions, burns, or other destructive processes were present.
Personal note: The local population likes to refer to a certain "All Consuming Shadow" that can "drink the blood, devour the soul, and exists within all darkness." While ████████████████████████ was still in possession of her blood, and there were no signs of wounds or bruising on her body, the lack of pupils and irises could explain the "devour the soul" part of the story. The eyes are the window to the soul, after all. What better place to devour a soul from?
Recommendation: Foundation personnel, particularly those trained in the capture, containment, and extradition of potentially ethereal or extra-planar entities should be sent to the general area of ████████, ██████ for further investigation and potential containment. Special considerations should be taken for the entity's apparent ability to kill without wounding or otherwise harming its victim.
Field Agent E.████████████ reporting. End of log.
Foreword: On ██-██-████, a detachment of Mobile Task Force Mu-13 was deployed to the area around ████████, ██████ to assist in the containment of SCP-XXXX. MTF Mu-13 was successful in the capture and containment of SCP-XXXX and sustained no casualties.
Below are the applicable logs and reports regarding the operation conducted by MTF Mu-13:
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Date: ██-██-████
Location: ████████, ██████
Description: Unit Commander's report. Mu-13 was deployed in order to capture and contain a potential non-corporeal entity. Upon arrival to the area, details surrounding the death of the entity's reported victim was ascertained and compared to local innuendo and legend. Operative █████████ was familiar with this area and suggested a probe of the woods north of the city.
Approximately 1.75 hours outside of town, Operative █████████████ obtained visual confirmation of the entity. Containment procedures were employed and were ultimately successful.
Subject: SCP-XXXX
Date: ██-██-████
Location: ████████, ██████
Description: Operative █████████████'s log. I made visual contact with what locals call, "The All-Consuming Shadow." Entity can be described as a gaseous, vaguely humanoid being, approximately three meters tall and shrouded in some sort of gas. Only certain parts of the entity were visible to me at the time, but what seemed to be a silvery mask of some sort was especially prominent.
Upon confirming visual contact with a fellow operative, our detachment moved to contain the entity. Surprisingly, not a single weapon had to be discharged to capture SCP-XXXX. The lights on our weaponry were enough to stop it dead in its tracks. Upon discovering this reaction, all operatives in the area trained their lights on the entity. Unit Commander █████ subsequently radioed for additional support and containment specialists to be deployed to our position for permanent containment.
