Item Number: SCP-987654321
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-987654321 is housed in a foundation laboratory, within a room designed to absorb small amounts of stray radiation. All personnel entering said room require leave from Dr. REDACTION, at least one Level 2/987654321 clearance staff member to be present, and are to either limit their visit to less than 1 hour OR use basic radiation protective measures to protect from stochastic health effects.
Description: SCP-987654321 is an antique claw-foot tub. Without any external plumbing, SCP-987654321 drips from the faucet at a rate of approximately one 0.25 ml drip every 2-3 seconds regardless of the position of the valve.
The source of this water is as of yet unknown, but preliminary examinations revealed that the faucet contains or is connected to anomalous plumbing unrelated to it's physical location. The drain, which is abnormally small (Approximately 15 millimeters in diameter), also shares this property. It has been determined through chemical analysis that the water contains unusually high amounts of copper and lead, as well as significant trace amounts of uranium, thorium and radium.
Approximately twice per week, if the faucet is left open, water will flow at a rate of 1 liter every 50 seconds. If left alone, it will fill the tub to within 10 centimeters of the top (approximately 350 liters) and the water will stop flowing, returning to a steady drip, and will drain within approximately 6 hours and 10 minutes.
The bottom of the tub hosts a particularly resilient species of green algae with DNA that has not been matched with any other known species on record, possibly due to radioactive genetic mutation. The algae is capable of growing with minimal sunlight, and inconsistent moisture. The algae seems is present in the water itself, suggesting that it originates from within the anomalous plumbing.
