Containment:

Site 1A is secured under the guise of a private estate.

Site 1A is to follow standard bunker protocols.

All signs are to be in English, Modern Greek, and Linear A Variant.

Double digit instances of SCP-2 are secured at [DATA EXPUNGED] to study the long-term effects of removal from SCP.

SCP-2 does not require containment. are not detectable from Earth.

Site 1A is a cavern located in the BLANK region of Crete.

SCP-1 is a series of clay tablets inscribed in Linear A. Translated (see SCP-1050), the tablets contain exaltations to A-re-a-ni and descriptions of 1A and 1B. When placed at Site 1A, they allow 1A and 1B to function.

An early form of Ariadne.

Praise A-re-a-ni, [mistress/lady] of the Labyrinth, cow-eyed and hundred fingered. Grant us the protection [from/of ?] her crossroads and twisting walls.

SCP-1 was first uncovered in PLACE in 1909.

In 1986, an embedded Foundation agent translated

SCP-1 was removed and records of its presence were altered.

On semi-regular instances, SCP-2 will send demographic and medical data, handcrafted art objects, and surplus population members. These will accompanied by material requests written in a derivative of Linear A. Requested items usually include cloth, spices, and low-cost jewelry. Requests not on the pre-approved list require Level 4 or higher clearance.

Demographic data is to be sent to Chief Researcher Gentz.

Art may be requisitioned by Foundation employees as office decorations. Any unclaimed art will be incinerated.

SCP-2 are to be observed in the medical ward until the arrival of [DATA EXPUNGED].

Value is to be assessed by on-site economist. Exchanges for instances of SCP must also be accompanied by an equivalent mass of high-grade fertilizer.

SCP-2 is the effect that causes postpubescent humans to age extremely slowly and confers resistance to a variety of ailments. It is estimated a human under the effect of SCP would have a average lifespan of TRIPLE DIGIT.

The known area of this effect is an island near the southern pole of Phi Boötis a, a previously unknown exoplanet.

The source and range of SCP remains undetermined.

SCP-1A is a ritual that can be conducted at the on Crete.

Upon successful completion of the ritual, all matter within the inner bounds of the ritual site (a 20m diameter circle) is transported to a lightless extradimensional space.

Versus Earthborn humans, SCP displays

. After nine days, contents re-emerge at Site-1B. Site-B is located on a small island near the pole of Phi Boötis a, 170 light years from the sun.

Phi Boötis a has a rotation of 26.2 hours, a revolution of 3 years and 220 days, and a gravity of 1.15x Earth. Known native life consists solely of single-celled prokaryotes similar to cyanobacteria and protozoa. Surveyed planet surface is over 98.8% ocean. Ocean water contains an unusually high level of chloride, making the water mildly acidic and unsuitable for human consumption.

Being located near the inner edge of the circumstellar habitable zone, Phi Boötis a is significantly warmer than Earth

Due to the size and luminosity of Phi Boötis compared to the sun, Phi Boötis a is

Despite being a closed system, the extradimensional space will maintain the ambient temperature, oxygen level, and gravity coefficient as the departure site. How this functions is undetermined.

A similar ritual, SCP-1B, can be used at site B transport matter back to Site-A.

SCP is the population of approximately 10,000 humans who inhabit the planet Phi Boötis a.

SCP speak a language sharing traits with Mycenaean Greek.

The island, referred to by SCP as "Sa-ta-mo," has an area of 40 square kilometers (about 2/3rds the size of Mahattan Island). The Island is heavily developed.

Possibly related to stathmos, the Mycenaean word for outpost.

SCP's livestock consists of domesticated Rattus rattus. According to SCP lore, their ascestors brought with them "a giant rat that that gave cloth above and fat below" . This is likely a distorted description of common livestock such as sheep and goats.

Note that SCP

the humans living on planet.

SCP-2 display signs of extreme genetic bottlenecking.

It turns outs the Minoans (or some long-gone civilization) actually figured out a way to reach and colonize an alien planet. It's barely habitable, but they've managed.

It's a small landmass near the planet's pole, giving them a very small area in which to live. Only existing life-forms are single celled prokaryotes and cyanobacteria - simple algae. Ocean toxic - chlorine?

Algae can be separated from the ocean water. Not digestible for humans, but can be fed to the rats and used to as fertilizer.

History was a series of population booms and crashes until 800 years ago, at which point a stable society was formed.

Reproduction among SCP-2 is strictly regulated. The current regime places a hard limit on the population - "one hundred hundreds", or 10,000 people, though they have the power to reduce that number in times of famine.

Legal pregnancy requires the death of an existing citizen. This most often occurs from ritual suicide committed by an older citizen so that a younger relative may reproduce. SCP-2 are given of name of

SCP-2

In cases of unplanned pregnancy, a volunteer must be found to give up their life or one of the parents will be selected for compulsory suicide. Age, previous children, and value to the community are all factors in this decision.

Addendum: SCP-2 do not believe in literal reincarnation. This was in fact an extended metaphor.

Ritualistic suicide is a common cause of death and is considered a noble sacrifice.

The colonists brought livestock, but they all went extinct during the famine periods. Specially bred rats are the only surviving animal species. Major breed types include milk givers, meat rats, and large cannibalistic rats used to control

Esparto fiber, bitter vetch, olive trees, barley, lettuce, and carrots.

Due to the Minoans genetic isolation, all objects traveling between planets must be sterilized, and travelers must undergo a minimum quarantine and receive a clear bill of health.

Visitors must bring their own food

SCP is ostensibly the effect that causes them to live centuries and protects from a number of ailments. It affects anyone human who travels to their planet.

The reveal is that they're the normal ones. Humans are supposed to live for centuries. The Foundation manages to triangulate the effect to a point near the Earth's core. Something big is down there. And it's starting to move around.

, but something is draining them. It radiates from the earth's core.

Finally arrived at site. I realize we just traveled such and such light years in just 9 days, but that was the most boring interstellar journey one could imagine.
We just sat around an underlit void for a week and a half, and there's only so much time you can kill with research journals and roleplaying games.

SCP-1050

Having trouble figuring out how SCP-2 reckon age. One young woman claimed she'd been alive for 52 seasonal cycles. Based on the orbit estimates Nguyen gave us, that would make her 89. Bromley insists she's certain about the translation.

We're not even sure what the full lifespan is for SCP-2. The oldest individual on the island is 386, and she looks like she's in her early sixties. She's actually petitioned for suicide multiple times so she can have a great-great-great-grandchild, but she keeps getting vetoed because the population considers her their best painter.

Whatever effect slows SCP-2's aging could be unique to them, but I don't think so. Because I feel fantastic, and so does the rest of the team. I haven't had a migraine since we arrived here, and Bromley says her anxiety hasn't been bothering her either.

By all rights, we should feel miserable. It's hot and muggy as a jungle, the gravity's higher, and the only protein we've been getting has been from MREs and rats.

I'm sending a full report to Earth as soon as 1B becomes available.

Once we get back, I'm petitioning

Director BLANK,

I felt obliged to inform you that I've lodged a formal complaint with the Ethics Committee concerning our treatment of SCP. Obviously SCP are valuable for their reaction to SCP-2 - we'd be decades away from triangulating SCP-O using D-Classes - but now I hear we're crosstesting them against other SCPs just to see if they might differently affected. An instance was even tested against SCP-BBB - one of our best

First off, the Foundation's relationship with SCP is exploitative by every definition. We are buying humans from a Bronze Age-level tribe for trinkets.

Then there's the way the SCP we have in containment are being treated as D-Classes. I fully support the current policy towards D-Class use. We can't study anomalies without risking lives, so we use the worst people, the ones who have turned against their own kind. The SCP we're using don't approach that criteria. Most are volunteers who wanted to make room for a baby. Some are here because of an accidental pregnancy. Only two are actual criminals, and they're both here for stealing food. These may be capital crimes in their society, but not in ours.

Just because they have an SCP number doesn't mean they stop being human. It's borderline whether they should even have an SCP classification.

I realize this will probably sink my career, but I can't just ignore this any longer.

Dear Chief Researcher,

As a Foundation employee, it is of course your right to petition the Ethics Committee without fear of retribution. I'm actually glad you're concerned about SCP. As a general rule, ethics and free thought are traits we want to encourage, particularly among the upper levels of the organization. Sociopaths are useful, but they're best kept out of leadership positions. So no, this won't hurt your career.

However, I can tell you your petition is going to go nowhere. The Ethics Committee has already examined our relationship with SCP closely. Our

I realize some of you are concerned we're exploiting the Ariadnae. You're afraid were buying human lives for a handful of glass beads. Let me make one thing clear: we absolutely are.

The Foundation has always been in the human trafficking business. Governments don't just provide us with D-Classes out of altruism. They sell them to us for favors and the assurance of knowing they won't have to deal with killer statues and memetic plagues themselves, but make no mistake. It's still a transaction.

They are, everyone of them, bought and paid for.

The only difference is that the Ariadae are cheaper.

If you have a high enough clearance to read this memo, then you're past needing things sugarcoated.

The Ariadnae are the least anomalous human group in existence.

The Foundation exists to protect humanity from the threat of anomalies, and

I realize a planetary-mass object projecting a carcinogenous aging aura across the inner solar system may seem like the greatest threat the Foundation has ever encountered, but it's really not.

On the other hand, the Ariadnae are the least anomalous human group in existence.

To the Children of A-re-a-ni, Mistress of the Labyrinth,

If you're reading, it means we almost certainly no longer exist.

That is why we've sent you this. This package contains an overview of the sum of Earth's knowledge, translated into your own writing system.

The most pressing section for you to study is our own contribution, the SCP Database. For a very long time, we have been studying and cataloging every anomaly we've ever encountered. Our main goal was to learn

We have spent decades trying to establish an offworld backup site. Imagine our joy when we discovered you exist.

Using the ritual will transport you into the center of a fortress. At the time this message was sent, [IF BREACH = FALSE THEN "this facility had not been breached" ELSE "this facility had been breached and should considered potentially hostile"]. It has been stocked
