Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid - Possible Keter pending

Special Containment Procedures:
Variable, dependent on stage of development. An instance of SCP-XXXX-B can be contained in a traditional human containment cell with its ventilation specially filtered against airborne pathogens. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A should be contained in a sealed room no more than 10x10 meters, with water-tight walls and hermetically sealed doors. Weekly culling should be performed to break away and destroy 90% of the grown mass. All instances of SCP-XXXX-C should be immediately destroyed upon reaching maturity, unless otherwise directed by level 4 clearances or higher for designated experiments.

Description:
SCP-XXXX, at it's base, seems to be a form of sentient bacteria, although more testing is needed to confirm this. [See Incident XXXX-02] The specimen has no known comparable species in regards of DNA to other forms of bacteria, but can be classified as nothing else. SCP-XXXX-A will absorb any organic material it can reach within it's confines and begin to reproduce at an accelerated rate, attempting to fill it's container.
Once the specimen grows large enough to be seen with the naked eye, it is noted that it resembles flesh of different tissues, such as exposed muscles, skin, mucous, and an unknown organic material that can emit light. If SCP-XXXX-A comes into contact with any living organism, such as animals or humans, SCP-XXXX-A will immediately absorb into the subjects skin and henceforth be designated as SCP-XXXX-B. [See Incident XXXX-01 and Incident XXXX-02 for more information on human host behavior] Over the course of a period ranging from several hours to several days ,and a maximum observed time of ███████, (time dependent on the complexity of the organism), the natural behavior of the subject will deteriorate into a rabid state as SCP-XXXX internally converts the subject. At the end of the cycle, growths can be seen bursting and growing from the skin of the subjects as they shift into a calm behavior, typically attempting to seek out an isolated location to go into the next stage of the infection.
At this point the growths evolve rapidly into what can only be described as fleshy eggs, designated SCP-XXXX-C, as the eggs grow and consume the remainder of the dying host. Allowing these eggs to hatch is not advised, unless designated by the appropriate clearance levels for dire emergencies, as they result in instances of SCP-XXXX-D. ███████
Allowing SCP-XXXX-A to fill too large of a volume will result in the formations of unusual structures, such as hanging meat vines, glowing pods, and most notably, nests which grow clusters of instances of SCP-XXXX-C. As nests form, defensive structures grow in order to keep out possible enemies. Tests and incidents have shown that they spew out a noxious and acidic cloud that, while burning and melting through the plastics of protective suits, leaving bare skin and flesh unharmed. Those that are touched by the fumes go into a frenzy, possibly under the direct control of SCP-XXXX. [See Incident XXXX-04]
At this stage, the hypothesized sentience is most notable, as the specimen has successfully completed rather complex puzzles in order to open containers of food during tests. The estimated IQ for a 10x10 meter room filled with the specimen is almost ████, easily completing the most challenging puzzles and equations put forth thus far. The possible repercussions of this has resulted in a possible Keter classification, though further tests are pending due to the slow overall movement speed.

Recovery:
Upon hearing rumors of an entire village going silent in ███████, Ukraine, Agent ███████ was sent to investigate for anomalous behaviors in the guise of a lost traveler. Upon reaching the village, Agent ███████ reports finding the area of the village, and surrounding .25 Kilometers covered in a layer of what appeared to be assorted flesh .5 m thick, although the edge of the flesh was slowly spreading at a rate of ███████. The agent reported seeing what he assumed to be the village buildings as large lumps and hills of the flesh, with a faintly glowing light being emitted from inside, visible even during the day.
As Agent ███████ took notes, he began to smell an aroma of a specialty baked good he was treated to as a child, seeming to attempt to draw him towards the area covered in SCP-XXXX. While he was disinclined to touch the SCP due to training, he describes the sensation as "-incredibly hard to resist". For reporting purposes, he followed the smell to the closest edge of the covered ground, noting a growth of SCP-XXXX about 20 meters in, covered in holes seeming to eject the smell. (Later researchers record there being similar growths dotting the entire perimeter of the covered growth area, and the smell being unique to each individual. The smell almost always mimics a delicious food item the subject desires most, although those with a high resistance to memetic influence report the smell being random, from cut grass to dirty socks).
Agent ███████ then saw a local walking about within a village, presumably the only villager left as he was the first human seen this far. After backup arrived to quarantine the village, the survivor was brought to research facility ███████, where the following interview took place between Researcher Duke, and the subject.

Video log XXXX-VL-01
Interviewed: Subject Ivan ███████
Interviewer: Researcher Duke
Foreword: Subject is located in a quarantined room with a glass view port and a mic to speak to the observation room. This is a video recording of the interview.
<Begin log:>
Researcher Duke: Good afternoon. I am Researcher Duke, and I am here to ask you about what happened at ███████.
Subject: What? Hello? Where am I? Why am I here?
Duke: You are safe. We are just here to ask a few questions. What exactly happened out there?
Subject: My… My home. I left after my brother found a strange egg floating down the river while fishing. I went to the nearest city to try to get someone to come look at the weird egg who might buy it. I found noone, but when I returned… It wasn't… my home anymore.
Subject:I don't really know. I was in such worry when I got back, I went straight to where my house. Or… where it should have been. I think on the way I brushed some of that stuff and it bit me or something.
[Researcher Duke notices strange movement under the skin of the subject, writing down some notes]
Duke: So what did you find in the village?
[Subject is abnormally quiet for nearly a minute, almost in a dazed state, before snapping to.]
Subject: I didn't find anyone there, I don't know where they went. Inside some of the homes were nests of the eggs, glowing. There were strange vines of the stuff between buildings, and weird moving lumps that felt like they were watching me..
<Subject dazes off for a few moments while muttering to himself, before going into a violent seizure for nearly a minute. Upon awakening, the subject refuses to speak at this time>

Incident XXXX-01
Subject Ivan ███████ has been kept under observation for approximately ███████ hours since last log. In this time, protrusions as large as 10 cm have formed under his skin across all of his body. The subject's mental state of being has seemed to have dropped significantly. After much urging, the only way to convince the subject for another interview was promises of abnormally large amounts of food afterwards.

Interviewed: Subject Ivan ███████
Interviewer: Researcher Duke
Foreword: Subject is located in a quarantined room with a glass view port and a mic to speak to the observation room. This is a video recording of the interview.
<Begin log:>
Researcher Duke: Hello Ivan, how are you feeling?
Subject: I'm so hungry. I want food! [Subject screams this last word in a rage]
[Duke writes notes as the voice change occurs]
[Ivan begins to speak, but his body goes into a seizure for approximately 30 seconds. Upon finishing, he stands abruptly and moves to the farthest corner of the room and begins vomiting up large balls of SCP-XXXX-A]
Duke: Ivan? Can you still hear me?
[Subject turns to look at observation window]
Subject: Ivan. Gone. Bring. Food. Or. Else.
[Subject punches the glass, impacting one of the large protrusions under the skin, rupturing a mucous form of SCP-XXXX-A across the glass, occluding view.]

Incident XXXX-02
SCP-XXXX-A has had ███████ hours to itself since the previous video log, with no food being given to starve off the specimen to a smaller size as researchers deliberate on ways to clean the inside of the glass. Research and security team ███████ has been authorized and equipped to gain entry into the containment room to gain a visual report of the SCP, as well as attempting to clear the viewport into the room.
Upon entry, the team reports the entirety of the walls, floor and ceiling were covered in SCP-XXXX-A, except for an area of 1 meter around the entry way, noting that even with no apparent food source, SCP-XXXX still reproduced itself and filled an approximate volume of 40% of the room. The source of all the extra mass is unknown. The lights had been covered with a thick layer of the entity, though there were lumps of glowing material in various vines of the flesh. A heartbeat sound was noticeable.
As the pointman of the team entered, SCP-XXXX reacted with a room wide undulation, and all members of the team reported noticing smells of various foods. Each member of the team reported different smell, commenting that they thoroughly enjoyed their unique smell, becoming hungry. Four of the eight members reported a willingness and desire to eat from the flesh of SCP-XXXX-A, but not enough at that time to do so. Further exposure has been recommended for further testing on D-Class personnel.
As the team surveyed the room, they report seeing a half dozen eggs like instances of SCP-XXXX-C, though where the beam of light touched, flaps of flesh would cover the eggs quickly. Movement was reported, indicating the nests being shifted around to further safer points in the room.
The team set up directed equipment for experiments, per orders of Dr. ███████. Initial tests were auditory, asking for a specified response in order to be awarded with food items. When asked to respond, a blast of smell similar to a skunk spewed forth. When written on a whiteboard, a similar response from SCP-XXXX was given. Theories on how SCP-XXXX has visual input are still under speculation, as there seem to be no ocular tissues anywhere among the different types of flesh making up SCP-XXXX.
With SCP-XXXX tested and able to understand any presented spoken and written language so far, 16 languages at time of writing, various intelligence questions and equations were given where simple feedback could be given. Initially, mathematical equations were submitted to SCP-XXXX where it was able to slap the ground a specified amount of times for an answer, but this was discarded as SCP-XXXX grew muscular appendages that it was able to bend into various shapes to spell out answers, ultimately being able to hold a marker and respond on the provided whiteboard.
After this breakthrough, increasing difficult questions were put forth, including quantum processing mathematics, which SCP-XXXX was able to answer immediately. Questions on future events were asked and tested, with SCP-XXXX being 97.8% accurate. SCP-XXXX was even asked about ███████, prompting the O-5 council to react to ███████. This level of intelligence and foresight has prompted a pending reclassification of Keter.

Incident XXXX-03
Within three days of first being sighted, the egg-light instances of SCP-XXXX-C matured. ███████ ███████ ███ ███████ █████ ██████
Clearance restricted to O-5 only.

Incident XXXX-04
After Incident XXXX-03, emergency orders have been given to reduce the size of SCP-XXXX, hypothesized to reduce the overall IQ and threat of SCP-XXXX as well as prevent instances of SCP-XXXX-D. Samples of SCP-XXXX-B had been taken and tested on, finding a resistance to acid, heat, ballistics, and even ███████. The only successful method found to damage SCP-XXXX-B is extreme cold. Team ███████ had been equipped with equipment capable of instantly freezing flesh at a distance.
Upon opening the door, SCP-XXXX immediately released a cloud of vapors, preemptively attacking the team. The vapors began to immediately dissolve all non-metal materials it came into contact with, though ignoring the flesh of the team. While caught off guard, four of the eight were able to avoid the fumes. Those that did not avoid the fumes immediately went into a frenzy, attempting to pull the others in the team into the cloud of gas.
The protected members were forced to open fire on the afflicted members, prompting them to stop the attack, retreating and flinging themselves onto the flesh of SCP-XXXX in the room, being absorbed and protected from further damage. A tendril of SCP-XXXX was seen snaking out of the door and activating the lock, sealing the door back. Attempts to open the door have been met with failure.
Further tests and methods of culling back SCP-XXXX are still being discussed. Speculation on possibility of SCP-XXXX plotting an escape through vents or pipes in the room are being investigated.

Incident XXXX-05
Full site wide shutdown after a mass containment breach. Protocol BLACKOUT put into effect. Upon response teams reaching the facility, no survivors were found, although most local SCP entities were still in containment. Several SCP entities are currently being hunted for after the catastrophe.
Investigations into the facility breach seem to show an improbable plot. As summarized by Dr.███████:
"I'm not a gambling man, but I would put my money on this all being a plot by SCP-XXXX. Simply following the clues and the small bits of recorded data left by a few working cameras, I'd say SCP-XXXX staged the entire thing. It seems to have started with SCP-XXXX filtering through the pipes into SCP-████'s containment. How it knew it was there, I have no idea. We just brought it in. But it helped it breach containment, and after almost all the facility was slaughtered, a single D-class personnel was let out after the others. Why do I say let out? Tendrils of SCP-XXXX were found only in that cell interfering with the electronics. After watching all of the video clips of that D-Class bumble around, it seems obvious of SCP-XXXX pulling the strings and guiding him unwittingly around. In the end, SCP-████ escaped, the D-Class found a clearance badge to take the elevator to the surface to escape, and it looks like some large mobile chunks of SCP-XXXX went with it, having parts of itself attached to the bottom of the elevator. But hey, that may just be me trying to figure out how to connect all these pieces, so don't put me on record. Please, don't put me on record."
