Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

postbox.JPG

SCP-XXXX, hidden.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained within a standard containment chamber in Site-16. A replica of the postbox has been installed at its original location.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an immobile, hostile mechanical entity previously located in Shanghai, China.

SCP-XXXX is composed of:

  • A circular porcelain base (of radius 25 cm) fitted with four metallic pivots 90° apart, allowing up to 90° rotation on the vertical axis
  • A 150 cm quarter cylinder lined with a mixture of cement and porcelain connected to each pivot
  • An interconnected system of cogs, wires, pressure plates and a metallic, motorized five-digit appendage embedded within the concave interior of each quarter cylinder
  • Another metallic appendage, located at the base, fitted with a triangular "head". Its upper jaw contains a set of an indeterminate number of drill bits that autonomously rearrange themselves to form different pattern combinations, as well as a number stamp on its lower jaw. A small syringe is located on its underside, filled with an expired sample of morphine.

The first SCP-XXXX sighting (possibly its manifestation) occurred on 13/05/1993, involving a civilian. Foundation agents took notice and administered Class-A amnestics. The following is a transcript by a CCTV recording in the area.

[23:04] Subject, female in her thirties, emerges from the right-hand side of the camera, approaching SCP-XXXX. A few objects are seen in her hands, presumed to be envelopes. A lamp post is next to this postbox, producing a dull illumination. No other individuals are seen in the area.

[23:06] Subject reaches out to the postbox's opening with her right arm. She inserts the envelopes into the opening, but stops before producing a pained expression. Subject attempts to pull away, but fails. She looks into the opening.

[23:10] The postbox "splits" into four columns, revealing SCP-XXXX. Its "head" is seen clamped onto her wrist. SCP-XXXX proceeds to pull subject onto the circular base, after which the columns rejoin, completely obscuring the subject from view. No visual change1 is seen for the next two minutes.

[23:12] Multiple humanoid entities, all exhibiting signs of surgical and mechanical alteration, manifest near the postbox. One of the entities approaches the postbox. After which, the postbox "splits" to show a cube-like object. The entity picks the object up before dropping it into a metal cage on its back. The entities demanifest after six seconds and the four columns erect themselves to their original positions.

After Foundation acquisition, an experiment was conducted on SCP-XXXX. D-305922 was introduced to its containment chamber. Observations were consistent with that in the CCTV recording. The resulting cube comprised of D-305922's limbs and internal organs welded together by liquefied muscle ligaments. Other alterations include:

  • Multiple protrusions of bone fragments from the skin
  • Severe bruising as a result of immense force on the muscles
  • Dislocation of the jaw
  • Wrapping of the small intestines around the cube
  • A layer of coating on the cube, identified to be dried blood belonging to D-305922
  • Missing genitals and rectum; these areas appear to have been cleanly removed
  • A "barcode" and a serial number embedded 5 cm deep into the wrist.

Before the guards could collect the object for in-depth examination, the same humanoid figure seen in the CCTV recording manifested within the chamber, proceeding to take the cube-like object. The entity demanifested afterward.

On the same day, Foundation agents intercepted several cryptic communications between Ohio and Longyang. Relevant snippets (initially in binary code) were extracted and translated. Hover to view the translation.
