Work In Progress
Item Number: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently being held at site-██. SCP-XXXX is to remain moored in its pen at all times, unless it is needed for testing, in which case its moorings may be removed with the permission of the site director. SCP-XXXX’s moorings are to be monitored by no less than two (2) armed guards at all times. All 40 instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be contained in standard humanoid containment cells.
Image of SCP-XXXX in what appears to be a naval exercise, obtained from an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a German type VIIB U-boat. There are no markings or symbols on SCP-XXXX's hull to identify it, though its captain has stated it is part of the Second (2nd) U-boat Flotilla. SCP-XXXX possesses a single 2cm C/30 flak gun mounted at the rear of its conning tower, the entity also possesses a single 88mm deck gun mounted forward of its conning tower. Both of these weapons have performed optimally when tested. SCP-XXXX has exhibited regenerative abilities, with the entity being able to regenerate damaged sections of its hull over a period of ten (10) hours.
Forty (40) instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have been identified as being SCP-XXXX’s crew. Instances appear as male humanoids aged between 18 and 39, all instances have exhibited regenerative properties identical to that of SCP-XXXX. It is currently unknown as to what caused these regenerative properties to appear in both SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 instances. The SCP-XXXX-1 instance identified as the captain of SCP-XXXX, who calls himself Heinrich Fischer. It should be noted that the Foundation has been unable to find any records on a Heinrich Fischer serving in the U-boat branch of the Kreigsmarine.
SCP-XXXX was first discovered on 2/14/1946 by a British Catalina naval patrol aircraft. The entity was recovered on 2/15/1946 after a brief engagement with British naval forces (See recovery report SCP-XXXX).
RECOVERY REPORT SCP-XXXX
DATE(S): 2/14/1946—2/15/1946
NOTE: The following is the official recovery report for SCP-XXXX. Information detailed in the report includes both background information (i.e events leading up to recovery) as well as recovery information.
[REPORT START]
08:00, 2/14/1946: British Catalina patrol aircraft conducting a routine patrol of the Western Approaches reports the first sighting of SCP-XXXX, believed to be a British submarine at the time.
13:30, 2/14/1946: Multiple civilian ships traversing the Western Approaches report odd radio signals, these signal's are believed to be caused by malfunctioning radio equipment at the time.
13:45, 2/14/1946: The odd radio signals reported by the civilian ships is picked up by land based radio stations. One radio station, belonging to the British armed forces, is able to decrypt the radio signals. The station reports that the signals are a series of coordinates that were encrypted using the German Enigma code.
13:50, 2/14/1946: Local British naval units are alerted, and a naval patrol aircraft is dispatched to the origin of the radio signals. Upon inspection, the patrol aircraft reports SCP-XXXX to local controllers, describing the entity as "A German sub". The British Admiralty is alerted to the situation.
14:00, 2/14/1946: A corvette is dispatched from Belfast to investigate the last known position of SCP-XXXX.
17:05, 2/14/1946: The corvette arrives at SCP-XXXX's last known position and begins searching for the entity.
17:11, 2/14/1946: No further communications are able to be established with the corvette. It is assumed that the corvette was sunk by SCP-XXXX.
17:20, 2/14/1946: Now realizing that SCP-XXXX is a threat, the British Admiralty begins assembling a destroyer task force to intercept and destroy the entity, it is at this time that the British government reaches out to the Foundation for assistance.
03:00, 2/15/1946: The British destroyer force finish assembling at Portsmouth naval base and departs for SCP-XXXX's last known position, the force consists of four destroyers. Foundation advisors are present on all three ships.
06:10, 2/15/1946: The task force arrives at SCP-XXXX's last known position and begins searching for the entity.
06:15-06:23, 2/15/1946: SCP-XXXX is located by the taskforce who proceed to launch depth charges at the entity, this has little affect. After completing the depth charge attack, the task force came under attack from SCP-XXXX. Two torpedoes were launched by SCP-XXXX, forcing the ships to make evasive maneuvers. This causes the taskforce to lose sonar contact on SCP-XXXX
06:36, 2/15/1946: The taskforce reacquires SCP-XXXX on sonar and launches a second depth charge attack.
06:38, 2/15/1946: SCP-XXXX surfaces near the taskforce, but does not attack. Foundation advisors reported that SCP-XXXX's conning tower and forward deck were damaged, most likely from near direct depth charge explosions.
06:40, 2/15/1946: SCP-XXXX's captain and two other instances of SCP-XXXX-1 climb onto SCP-XXXX's conning tower and surrender to the task force.
07:05, 2/15/1946: SCP-XXXX is secured to one of the destroyers in the task force and towed to Scapa Flow where it is handed over to the Foundation. SCP-XXXX's captain is interviewed by Dr. Clive shortly after SCP-XXXX's arrival at Scapa Flow (See SCP-XXXX interview log 1).
