Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1A and SCP-XXXX-1B will remain in Building # 305 as part of Provisional Site-192. All Foundation employees are instructed to wear casual attire when entering Provisional Site-192 to maintain Foundation cover among the surrounding neighbourhood residents.
2 guards are to be permanently posted and reside in Building # 305 at all times.
The current range of SCP-XXXX-1 is an area of 8.98m3 on the floor surrounding the entrance to the basement of Building # 305, indicated by perimeter markings. Any interaction with SCP-XXXX-1 requires authorization from the current Site Director.
Observing on-site personnel are instructed to immediately retrieve the pre-loaded tranquilizer pistol in the end-table drawer next to the perimeter when SCP-XXXX-1 becomes active. Should any attempts be made by any individual who believes they are restrained by SCP-XXXX-1 to harm themselves, look more than 60 degrees from their face-forward position or report an interaction with SCP-XXXX-1 that requires discontinuation as noted below, personnel are to fire 1 hypodermic round at said individual, containing a fast-acting soporific to rapidly induce loss of consciousness.
All direct interaction with SCP-XXXX-1 by any personnel is to be discontinued after more than 15 13 10 times SCP-XXXX-1 ceases to be identified as threatening or begins to encourage looking behind them while interacting with it. Any interaction with SCP-XXXX-1 that matches the above description is to be forcibly stopped and reported immediately.
Procedural Update: Any civilians attempting to enter Building # 305 are to be administered a Class-C amnestic before they cross the door threshold into the premises and escorted to Building # 488 for memory replacement.
Procedural Update: No telecommunication devices which can introduce information of the world outside of SCP-XXXX-1’s location are to be permitted in Building # 305. All literature and pre-recorded audio-visual content are to be screened for key words, phrases and images before being permitted within Building # 305.
Procedural Update: [DATA EXPUNGED]
The range of interactivity of SCP-XXXX varies by instance and all instances known to the Foundation are to be tested bi-annually for evidence of an increase or decrease in its range of interactivity, with perimeter markings adjusted accordingly.
Procedural Update: SCP-XXXX-2 has been confirmed neutralized as of 12/28/2014. As such, its containment procedures have been expunged from this record and archived accordingly.
Description: SCP-XXXX are believed to be Class 3 non-corporeal entities with no confirmable physical properties. Attempts to view or measure them with infrared, thermographic, ultraviolet, [REDACTED] imaging equipment or spectrometers have been unsuccessful at this time. When activated, it appears to be capable of speech and conversation which indicates possession of human-level intelligence at minimum, but cannot be understood unless within its range of interactivity.
To date, the Foundation has no concrete information on how it is created or manifests itself, though evidence of the contents of SCP-XXXX-1B SCP-████-3A provide an estimate that SCP-XXXX-1 came into existence shortly before its initial discovery in the 1910s.
Upon stepping into the range of interactivity, SCP-XXXX makes its presence known only to the individual(s) in this range by creating a heightened sense of dread or unease and a sensation of something being directly behind them, which causes a near-immediate cessation in forward momentum.
Immediately thereafter, it will be perceived by the affected individual(s) to grip them in a manner that they believe makes it physically impossible to walk or run away, further intensifying the emotional response it generates. It will also seal all possible exits and cover all windows, with doors, windows and window coverings able to withstand force that would normally cause them to be broken, forced open or destroyed. The means by which it achieves this effect are psychokinetic in nature, as observation during testing shows no physical signs of restraint and no changes in the physical properties of any of the exits.
The individual(s) affected will first appear to be instructed by SCP-XXXX not to turn and look behind them. After this instruction, it is capable of having a full dialogue with the affected individual(s) that cannot be heard or seen by observers, except for the responses given by the affected individual(s). After communication is established, the feelings of unease or dread felt by the affected individual(s) will escalate every 2 minutes 42 seconds on average until they lose consciousness, typically from exhaustion or shock. Whether this increase is a natural response to perceived stimuli from SCP-XXXX or induced by it through unnatural means is unknown at this time.
Once any affected individual(s) experience a loss of consciousness, SCP-XXXX will then produce a cognitohazard affecting all current occupants of its location, including the unconscious affected individual(s), which is capable of removing or manipulating memories of the events that transpire once it became active and moving any affected individual(s) from its range of interactivity to place them in a state of rest using its psychokinetic capabilities.
Said cognitohazard does not affect observers of live video footage outside of its location.
[DATA EXPUNGED, SEE ADDENDA]
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was first discovered by the Royal Canadian Society for the Investigation of the Paranormal (RCSIP) in 1914 or earlier. 2 operatives who were dispatched to survey the western settlements of the Temperance Colonization Society discovered it within the settlement of ██████, which is now part of the city of █████████, Saskatchewan, Canada. Suspicious repeated disappearances of several residents of Building # 305 quickly roused the suspicions of the operatives and the residence was purchased from its prior owner’s estate. However, due to the loss, destruction or degradation of RCSIP records, this prior discovery and possession of the property by a Foundation precursor organization was not known until documentation was recovered from the attic of Building # 305.
SCP-XXXX came to the Foundation’s attention in ██/██/1977, after the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services became aware that an employee had gone missing some time after departing for a scheduled home interview. The home interview was scheduled when the foster parent residing in Building # 305 had reported multiple foster children had run away. 2 weeks later, another employee went missing during routine foster home inspections. The Foundation deployed 2 operatives from Mobile Task Force Iota-10 ("Damn Feds”) disguised as RCMP officers to investigate the missing employees and seize the anomaly suspected for these disappearances, when they came upon Building # 305, unlocked and with no civilians remaining inside. When they woke up in the upstairs bedroom the following day after attempting to search the basement, it was determined that Building # 305 would be seized by the Foundation under the guise of civil forfeiture, falsifying a report that the foster mother was manufacturing and distributing illicit narcotics and abandoned the residence with her foster children and 2 hostages.
[DATA EXPUNGED, SEE ADDENDA]
Addendum XXXX-1: Extended experimentation reveals that with each subsequent interaction with an instance of SCP-XXXX by the same individual, the emotional response it creates lessens and affected individuals become less fearful of it, engaging it in a friendly or casual manner. Whether this is a natural acclimation to perceived stimuli from SCP-XXXX or induced by it through unnatural means is currently undetermined. While in the range of interactivity, if 15 13 10 interactions with an instance of SCP-XXXX result in cortisol and epinephrine levels decreasing in those affected to within 5% of the levels found in a human being engaged in casual conversation with a personal acquaintance, said instance of SCP-XXXX will refrain from advising an affected individual against looking behind them. The anomaly then begins to encourage those affected to turn around and look at it. Affected individuals found to have met these conditions will cause an activation of containment protocols and contact with SCP-XXXX by the affected individual(s) will be immediately suspended.
Addendum XXXX-2: With the discovery of SCP-████ showing similarities to the anomalies previously designated as SCP-XXXX-1B and SCP-XXXX-1C but not indicating any instance of SCP-XXXX-1A, we have concluded that Building # 305 contains 2 distinct anomalies.
As such, SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3 have been re-designated as SCP-████-3A and SCP-████-3B, which SCP-XXXX-1A will furthermore be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. All records have been updated to reflect the new designations. All relevant data regarding SCP-████-3 has been expunged from this record and moved to its proper designation.
The following is a digital reproduction of Archival Document # RCSIP-SK-XXXX-1, provided as evidence of first discovery of SCP-XXXX.
Dearest friends and colleagues, I pray that this letter finds you, as it is with great consternation that I write it. Applegate has committed a wilful breach of ethics that I cannot reconcile.
The uncategorized curiosity of the cellar stairwell has worked tirelessly to make itself inscrutable, going as far as to force a belief into our minds that our intentions to descend into the cellar never occurred. The first few times were but a nuisance, but even diligent observation has left us only with notation of encounters we cannot remember, describing Applegate and I spending time at the stairwell frozen in terror at a creature behind us that neither of us are able to describe in the moment. Over a year of careful observation has passed and we have nary a scrap of evidence to show for it. I have not encountered such a phenomenon as this and believe we have been ill-equipped to proceed further.
However, after multiple letters containing our notations along with requests for research assistance and test subjects had yielded silence from the Society for 2 long years, Applegate has expressed a need to recruit test subjects among the common population in order to continue our research.
I have discouraged him for as long as I could. In spite of my efforts to dissuade him, another disappearance in the area suggests that Applegate has been conducting experiments with the populous off the street during my recreational evening hours. I fear that this may even have been Applegate’s motive all along and that my prior letters to you were intercepted by him, as a means to carry out some twisted ambition.
It is my intention to confront Applegate and cease this reckless endeavour by any available means. Should you not receive this letter, I have left a duplication within the house, in the location prescribed in the Society’s standard practices, should you arrive too late to end this.
God forgive me for what I must do.
- Jasper Allen Hollis, dated the 19th of June, 1916
Notes: An examination of civil records shows a homicide of Mr. Hollis, shot and killed with his own pistol in Building # 305 on 06/21/1916 by a Mr. Warren Applegate, likely a result of the confrontation mentioned in the above letter from Mr. Hollis to the RCSIP. Mr. Applegate was implicated in the other disappearances in the area as presumed murders and sentenced to death by hanging; the sentence was carried out shortly after his trial.
Likely due to its unsavoury reputation, no other occupants or new owners of Building # 305 were recorded until 1943, when it was purchased as a rental property. In 1969, the building was inherited by its last civilian owner before it entered the possession of the Foundation.
Based on our experiment results of SCP-XXXX-1, there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Applegate was influenced by SCP-XXXX in his decision to perform experiments with civilian subjects, but was likely displaying a pre-existing sociopathy or sadism, given other reports of similar conditions among personnel in Foundation precursor organizations.

Object(s): One (1) remote-controlled all-terrain probe with mounted live-feed camera
Variable(s): Object is not biological and controlled by on-site personnel
Results: Probe is able to canvas the entire area inside the marked perimeter. No anomalous activity occurs.
Findings: SCP-XXXX is not reactive to inorganic materials. Probe was able to proceed to inspect the basement unimpeded. Confirmed the existence of another aspect of SCP-XXXX, designated SCP-XXXX-1B SCP-████-3. Footage from probe has been entered as Exploration Log XXXX-2-1 ████-3A-1.

Observer: Dr. ██████████, Head of Research, Provisional Site-192
Control: SCP-XXXX-1
Subject(s): One (1) live laboratory mouse; one (1) deceased laboratory mouse
Variable(s): Subjects are non-hominid mammals; only 1 of the subjects is alive
Results: Deceased mouse is dropped inside the marked perimeter. No anomalous activity occurs.
Live mouse is released, walks across perimeter and stops 2 steps inside. Window curtains in the kitchen were shut immediately afterwards by unknown means. A guard is dispatched by the assistant researcher on site to inspect the windows, confirming that he was not capable of opening the curtains. Guard attempts to open the front door but is unable to turn the deadbolt after repeated attempts.
Live mouse begins to exhibit a fear response and shows attempts to move, but is unable to do so. At 5 minutes 43 seconds into the test, live mouse appears to dislocate its right front leg from multiple overexerting attempts to move. At 7 minutes 4 seconds, live mouse loses consciousness.
All personnel proceed to stop observing the experiment as soon as the test subject loses consciousness and begin various leisure activities in other areas of Building # 305, as though the experiment had concluded.
Live mouse begins to levitate and moves into the cage it was brought into Building # 305 with. Cage is then sealed. Dead mouse remains undisturbed.
Guards attempting to enter Building #305 were unable to do so; attempts to turn the key and unlock the door were unsuccessful until 1 hour and 37 minutes after the mouse was returned to its cage.
Findings: SCP-XXXX is not reactive to deceased organisms. Live mouse awoke from its unconscious state and remains in good health with the exception of the dislocated shoulder, showing no long-term adverse health effects from exposure to SCP-XXXX.
All personnel in Building # 305 during the experiment were shown the video footage of the previous day and unanimously confirm no knowledge of what occurred in the footage, stating their belief that the test had been performed, no anomalous activities occurred and the live mouse was returned to its cage.
Further experimentation is required to determine the consistency of these anomalous effects.
Note: Given the recent abolition of capital punishment in Canada, D-Class personnel are currently allocated on a priority-need basis until a cross-border solution is established. Experiments have been suspended until D-Class personnel become available for further experimentation.

Subject(s): D-812823
Variable(s): D-812823 is in a persistent vegetative state and lacks high-level brain functions such as sapience, likely from his repeat exposure to SCP-████
Results: D-812823 is placed in a motorized wheelchair and remotely guided inside the perimeter. D-812823 successfully passed through both sides of the perimeter. No anomalous activity occurs.
Findings: SCP-XXXX is not reactive to life forms that do not possess some level of conscious brain activity.
Note: Given its non-reactive response to D-812823, a ramp to the basement was installed to allow testing of SCP-XXXX-1B SCP-████-3A. Data has been collected in Experiment Log XXXX-2-1 ████-3A-1.

Subject(s): D-729661
Variable(s): D-729661 is a fully-sapient human being
Results: 2 steps after entering the perimeter, D-729661 ceases moving forward and begins to enter a panic state. Window curtains shut as in prior experiment XXXX-1-4. Junior researcher advises D-729661 to remain calm. D-729661 begins pulling at his legs, asks who is there and advises junior researcher that there’s someone behind him telling him not to turn around. Personnel outside the perimeter do not observe anything behind D-729661. D-729661 advises he is unable to move his feet or ankles. Junior researcher advises to continue the experiment.
At 7 minutes 21 seconds after experiment began, D-729661 begins shaking and crying uncontrollably; multiple attempts to calm the subject down show him to be inconsolable. At 13 minutes 54 seconds, D-729661 begins to urinate himself. At 16 minutes 9 seconds, D-729661 begins clawing at his shins, inflicting self-harm, stating he “can’t take it any more”. Under instruction of junior researcher, guard renders D-729661 unconscious with his stun gun.
As with prior experiment XXXX-1-4, personnel proceed to leave and engage in their leisure activities as though the experiment had ended. D-729661 begins to levitate and is carried to the living room and placed on the couch.
In addition, the magazine that D-729661 had been reading prior to the experiment is shown to levitate and turn pages, as though someone was reading it for 34 minutes before being placed back onto the coffee table.
Guards outside of Building # 305 were unable to unlock the door until 1 hour after the experiment began, when they proceed to enter and retrieve D-729661 without incident.
Findings: D-729661’s memory of the test indicates he walked inside the perimeter, nothing happened and he promptly returned to reading a magazine, waiting for guards to come and escort him out of the building. He states he must have fallen asleep on the couch while waiting for them. All other personnel in Building # 305 have memories that match D-729661’s recollection of events.
SCP-XXXX-1 appears to possess some form of sentient intelligence and was able to communicate with the subject. Further experiments will determine if a dialogue can be opened with it. It also demonstrated detailed knowledge of the behaviour of occupants within Building # 305, given that it was able to mimic D-729661’s activity prior to the beginning of the experiment, indicating either some form of perception of events within Building # 305 or an ability to extract information from those it interacts with. Further study will be required.
The extent of SCP-XXXX-1’s cognitohazard and seemingly psychokinetic capabilities can now clearly be defined by the following behaviours, which will be referred to by the following designations in further experiments for expedient notation:
Anomalous Behaviour Alpha
- Halting further ingress by subject(s) within the perimeter
- Restraining subject(s) within the perimeter by their feet and ankles
- Sealing all entry/exit points to its location
- Preventing exterior observation of activity within its location, with human intervention being incapable of allowing it
Anomalous Behaviour Beta
- Either producing stimuli or altering brain chemistry which incite a flight response in any subject(s) within the perimeter
- Communicating with subject(s), beginning with an instruction not to turn and look behind them
Anomalous Behaviour Gamma
- Engages a cognitohazard effect in occupants that erases all memory of any interaction with it during the time a subject crossed its perimeter, replaced with no anomalous activity, followed by mundane expected behaviour consistent with activities engaged by those affected
- Moves the subject(s) from within the perimeter to their expected place of rest by unknown but likely psychokinetic means
- Mimics the expected behaviour of any unconscious subject(s) consistent with prior activities in its location, with other occupants affected by the cognitohazard given the impression of the continued conscious presence of said subject(s), until such a time that the subject(s) would ordinarily fall asleep
- Unseals the entry/exit points to its location once the mimicry has ceased

Subject(s): D-729661; Dr. ██████████
Variable(s): D-729661 has 4 prior exposures to SCP-XXXX-1; Dr. ██████████ will attempt to communicate with SCP-XXXX-1 with D-729661 acting as an intermediary
Results: 3 steps after entering the perimeter, Behaviours Alpha and Beta occur as expected. D-729661 agrees to provide the answers to questions asked. [See Interview Log XXXX-1-1 for the transcript of the conversation.]
At end of interview, Dr. ██████████ requests that D-729661 turn and look behind him, against the wishes of SCP-XXXX-1. D-729661 protests but eventually complies. Upon looking behind him, D-729661 begins to shriek loudly, followed by his neck making a sudden and quick 90-degree rotation. D-729661 falls to the floor, presumed to be deceased due to a fracture to his cervical vertebrae.
Behaviour Gamma begins, but instead of moving D-729661’s body to the couch, D-729661 is thrown into the basement, exposing it to SCP-XXXX-1B SCP-████-3A, which dissolved the corpse of D-729661. 21 minutes after the experiment concluded, Dr. ██████████ is seen leaving Building # 305.
Findings: The first confirmed fatality from SCP-XXXX-1 has been recorded, due to ignoring its instruction to not turn to look at it. Until this point, it was hypothesized that it was acting benevolently to prevent occupants of Building # 305 from entering the basement and encountering SCP-XXXX-1B SCP-████-3A, but its behaviour of corpse disposal seems to indicate a sort of co-dependent relationship with each other.
It is now also confirmed that SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of acknowledging the presence of all other individuals within Building # 305, which indicates that its ability to mimic those who it interacts with is not a form of mind-reading but is from sensory perception.
Dr. ██████████’s personal recollection of the experiment was that the experiment commenced, no anomalous activity occurred and D-729661 was picked up by other guards and escorted out of Building # 305. Shortly thereafter, Dr. ██████████ says he left Building # 305 and retired for the night.
Anomalous Behaviour Gamma has been updated to include the following:
- Mimics the expected behaviour of any subject(s) it kills consistent with prior activities in its location, with other occupants affected by the cognitohazard given the impression of the continued conscious presence of said subject(s), including a mundane departure from its location consistent with previous behaviour
- Disposes of any physical remains of the subject(s) it kills into SCP-XXXX-1B SCP-████-3A
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX, by way of D-729661
Interviewer: Dr. ██████████
Foreword: As SCP-XXXX can not be heard unless an individual is directly exposed to it, D-729661 was used as an intermediary to make any communication with SCP-XXXX-1 possible. As all communication is filtered through an intermediary, the accuracy of the information is to be considered suspect and/or incomplete.

Afterword: SCP-XXXX-1 has refrained from any communication with anyone but the subject(s) able to directly perceive it in all experiments following this interview.
SCP-XXXX-1 believes a person or entity sent the Foundation to destroy it. On further reflection of this interview, SCP-XXXX-1C SCP-████-3B is likely to be the threatening entity perceived by SCP-XXXX-1 to be the cause of its containment.
Date: ██/██/198█
Observer: Dr. ██████████, Head of Research, Provisional Site-192
Control: SCP-XXXX-1
Subject(s): D-500273
Variable(s): D-500273 has 7 prior exposures to SCP-XXXX-1
Results: 2 steps after entering the perimeter, Behaviours Alpha and Beta occur as expected. As found in prior experiments, D-500273 appears increasingly more calm with each interaction with SCP-XXXX-1.
At 6 minutes 39 seconds from the start of the experiment, D-500273 begins to talk to SCP-XXXX-1 about his private life. When asked why, D-500273 states he was "bored of just standing there". Due to concerns about this new behaviour, D-500273 was administered a fast-acting soporific via tranquilizer pistol to forcibly conclude the experiment.
Behaviour Gamma initiates, with D-500273 placed on the couch. At this point, a voice can be heard that sounds like D-500273 asking if he can continue watching television while he waits for the guards to arrive. On-site guards give permission and the television turns on, changing channels for a moment before stopping on █████████████████. 35 minutes later, the disembodied voice of D-500273 can then be heard roaming the halls muttering about being recorded and how “it can’t know I’m here”. At this moment, the cameras providing live video feed to Building # 305 begin to lose signal one by one, with audio indicating they were being smashed.
2 hours after experiment commenced, guards were able to open the door to Building # 305 and retrieve D-500273. No unexpected abnormalities were observed.
Findings: SCP-XXXX-1 has displayed a capability of mimicking the voices of subjects it is exposed to for the first time since its discovery. It also appears to have learned what a security camera device was, as the television program being broadcast during the time of the destruction of the on-site cameras provided an exposition on their functionality and a visual of what they looked like. It then destroyed all instances of video cameras within Building # 305 while mimicking D-500273. Other on-site personnel have no recollection of D-500273 destroying the on-site cameras, which notes the first time that SCP-XXXX has performed an action inconsistent with the subject being mimicked and selectively utilized its cognitohazardous ability to conceal its post-experiment activity.
The experiment also demonstrates the ability for SCP-XXXX-1 to possess extensive knowledge of anything that can be heard or seen while inside of Building # 305. This can include information obtained from audio-visual playback, telephone conversations or broadcasts from television/radio receivers. The conclusion is that SCP-XXXX-1 possesses audio-visual sensory perception and the ability to immediately process and retain information. Given this information, SCP-XXXX-1 is, at bare minimum, equivalent in intellect to an average human being.
Findings also further indicate a paranoia of being discovered that was demonstrated in prior interview.
The lessening of the subject’s flight response when interacting with SCP-XXXX-1 continues and will need to be examined further without risking Site security.
There continues to be no observed long-term effects in subject D-500273 from any prior exposure when not directly interacting with SCP-XXXX-1, aside from an expected mild desensitization to stimuli that would illicit a flight or anxiety response.
Note: Containment procedures have been updated in an effort to restrict the knowledge SCP-XXXX-1 is exposed to, so as to prevent the risk of a containment breach or the further removal of any tools required for monitoring activity inside Building # 305. Hidden cameras will need to be discreetly installed before experiments can resume.

Subject(s): D-500273
Variable(s): D-500273 has 15 prior exposures to SCP-XXXX-1
Results: 2 steps after entering the perimeter, Behaviour Alpha occurs as expected, but D-500723 advises that SCP-XXXX-1 did not tell him not to turn around as has been noted in prior experiments. D-500723 appears perfectly calm and can be seen smiling. When asked why by the assistant researcher, D-500273 advises that there’s nothing to be scared of, noting a distinct change in Behaviour Beta.
At 3 minutes 12 seconds from the start of the experiment, D-500273 advises that he is being asked if he wants to turn around and states that he does. Before the assistant researcher can advise against it, D-500723 turns around to look behind him and is slowly [REDACTED]. D-500273 did not indicate any signs of discomfort, pain or fear during this process, remaining silent and still while [REDACTED].
Behaviour Gamma began the moment that SCP-XXXX-1 began to [REDACTED], with on-site personnel continuing to go about their routine behaviour as though the experiment had ended, with no attention paid to [REDACTED], which lasted for 27 minutes 9 seconds. The remaining [REDACTED] was deposited into SCP-████-3A as expected. All evidence of the death of D-500273 remaining on the walls and floor appear to be removed by SCP-XXXX-1 through unknown means. 45 minutes after the experiment ends, guards were able to open the door to Building # 305 and assess the situation.
Findings: On-site personnel affected by the cognitohazard report that D-500273 entered the perimeter, no anomalous activity occurred and the experiment was determined to be completed, with D-500273 collected by guards about a half hour later.
Further examination and experiments will be required to determine the nature of this newly-exhibited behaviour, which we are tentatively referring to as Anomalous Behaviour Delta.
Note: Due to the extensively graphic nature of these events resulting in post-traumatic stress for those who were required to review the footage, including Dr. ██████████, video records and un-redacted experiment logs that include details of this behaviour now require Level 4 authorization to access.

Dated: 03/18/1992
Extensive examination of our findings has been completed and the results are troubling, to say the least.
While the anomaly does not appear to be biological in nature, if we were to review the data we have regarding SCP-XXXX from a biological standpoint, it appears to exhibit some similarities to common parasites found in mammals.
For example, parasites commonly feed upon food or nutrients from its host to meet its own nutritional requirements, which has the by-product of inflicting its host with minor to severe nutritional suppression. If we were to apply this to SCP-XXXX, it leads one to believe that its behaviour is a form of “feeding” and allowing its “host” to “feed” on the remainder of its victims. While only a working theory, the data is consistent with the theory being true, given its relationship to its “host” anomaly in its direct proximity.
With that theory in mind, the anomaly appears to have an aversion to consumption of victims with high levels of the cortisol and/or epinephrine hormones and creates an environment where it can attempt to reduce the levels of those hormones in its potential victims. The current hypothesis is that looking at it prematurely renders that outcome an impossibility and it therefore kills its intended prey, depositing the whole corpse for its “host” to consume. When its requirements are met, however, it will [REDACTED]
Also, like parasites, the anomaly appears to grow when it is “fed”, as the area of effect for SCP-XXXX-1 has grown in size by 13 cubic centimetres since it was first discovered. I hypothesize that the inverse is also true and that the anomaly can be neutralized through what can best be described as starvation. However, given its slow rate of growth, it would likely take several decades to neutralize it in such a manner.
Where the anomaly diverges from a common biological parasite is in its full sapience, its cognitohazardous behaviour and its ever-present aversion towards being discovered, but given that its “host” is also an anomaly and consumes humans, this may be some form of evolutionary necessity it developed to maintain long-term survival. Also unique is that it is entirely immobile, suggesting it has not yet evolved to a point where it can follow its “host” if it is re-located. We have also not yet discovered the method by which it replicates itself, as parasites are known to do.
With all these data points in mind, it is my expert opinion that SCP-XXXX-1 is one instance of an invasive and parasitic antagonist “species" to other anomalies that exhibit stationary and predacious behaviours. Therefore, I have 2 recommendations:
- The Foundation should perform a full re-examination of the recovery and/or containment locations of other immobile predacious anomalies to search for other potential instances of SCP-XXXX
- The Foundation should permit experimentation on moving and attempting to replicate instances of SCP-XXXX, as understanding how the anomaly might replicate will aid in prevention of further instances of it and its behaviours could greatly reduce the number of civilian fatalities from exposure to more dangerous anomalies that we cannot currently contain effectively
- Dr. ██████████
Note: While we applaud Dr. ██████████’s diligence in examining the traits of this anomaly, we are in disagreement that there is reason to suggest that the anomaly is anything less than unique at this time and will neither be conducting an investigation of prior discovery locations and Sites nor approving the request to experiment on the anomaly for the purpose of replication.
Please advise Dr. ██████████ to continue his research and bring us further evidence to corroborate his conclusion so that we may re-open deliberation on this matter, with a stern reminder that incorporeal anomalies do not conform to standard biological or taxonomical parameters and should not be researched within such frames of reference when possible.

Subject: Reconsiderations of Final Report RE: Analysis of SCP-XXXX-1
To begin, please accept our apologies for our earlier dismissal of the recommendations in your report. Our history makes clear that not even we are infallible.
Reports from Guadalajara, Mexico showed continued anomalous activity at the location of a neutralized anomalous predator and exploration of the location has led to the discovery of an anomaly matching all the characteristics of SCP-XXXX, including what you refer to in your research as Anomalous Behaviours Alpha through Delta.
We have designated this discovery as SCP-XXXX-2 and provided all available research on SCP-XXXX to our Mexican operatives in the region. Given that minimal effort was required to ensure it posed no threat to the civilian population, we believe it will provide you with the ideal conditions for testing your theory with regard to neutralizing SCP-XXXX by performing bi-annual experiments for signs of any diminishment of SCP-XXXX-2 from prolonged lack of exposure to life forms.
We have also begun an extended canvasing of all locations which contain or contained a predacious anomaly for evidence of any further instances of SCP-XXXX, per your recommendation, in the hopes of understanding the required scope of containment. This will also extend to all Foundation Sites and they will be briefed accordingly.
We ask that you begin an analysis on the potential means of reproduction of SCP-XXXX. While we continue to disagree that SCP-XXXX could be used for containment as you have recommended, it is imperative that we understand how this creature comes into existence to ensure full containment of all current and future instances of SCP-XXXX.
We thank you for your diligent service to the Foundation and expect great things from you in the future.

Subject: Site-19 Containment Breach and Immediate D-Class Quarantine
As some of you are aware, Site-19 experienced a minor containment breach 4 days ago when the security alarm was triggered due to the manual closure of security doors and yet again by a then-unknown cognitohazard 17 minutes later. 2 direct casualties and 3 incidental casualties were recorded.
After a full internal investigation and review of all security footage at Site-19, we have concluded that another instance of SCP-XXXX (tentatively designated SCP-XXXX-3) has manifested in the hallway of Site-19 outside the containment cell for an as-yet-undesignated sedentary predator. The evidence to suggest this includes the following events consistent with the abilities of SCP-XXXX:
- 2 personnel were observed walking the hallway and both abruptly stopped walking, standing in place for 17 minutes until they can be seen dying via a full and sudden neck rotation and then deposited in the nearby containment cell
- all entryways and exits were sealed, including those that caused the alarm to sound due to closure of the doors by forcible means instead of via the Site’s security apparatus, thus making containment cells impregnable to the anomalies inside them, preventing access to the hallway and potentially preventing further containment breaches
- the cognitohazard which tripped the cognitohazard alarm is consistent with those performed by SCP-XXXX, with interviews of both personnel and anomalous entities in the hallway at the time who were affected by the cognitohazard indicating altered recollections of the events recorded
Since these events, the section of hallway where SCP-XXXX-3 is located has been walled off completely and the undesignated anomaly it manifested into the proximity of was re-located to another containment cell. SCP-XXXX-3 will not be logged, as the research indicates that by walling it up and thereby fully discontinuing physical contact with other living organisms, it will inevitably perish. All personnel of Site-19 with Level 3 clearance or higher will be advised of its location in the event of unforeseen occurrences, but we believe it no longer poses a threat to Site-19’s security or inhabitants.
The cause of this incident is speculative, but it is believed to be caused by the consumption of D-0911736 by the undesignated anomaly on the 23rd of July. This is considered significant, as the only other task that D-0911736 performed for the Foundation was interacting with SCP-XXXX-2 as part of scheduled testing before being transferred to Site-19.
While we do not yet understand the mechanism by which this occurs, it is believed that any living organism that interacts with SCP-XXXX is somehow either introduced to its reproductive material or used to carry its unborn offspring, which remain dormant until said organism is ingested by an anomaly of a certain criteria.
We have confirmed all living D-Class personnel who have interacted with an instance of SCP-XXXX, quarantined them together in a separate holding facility and re-classified them as E-Class personnel. All test records for these E-Class personnel will be scrutinized to identify any other potential SCP-XXXX manifestations.
Any living civilians who have interacted with an instance of SCP-XXXX will be monitored by Agents until such a time that a solution to this condition is discovered and can be administered to them.
Furthermore, extensive medical examinations and (if necessary) autopsies will be conducted on both civilians and the designated E-Class personnel to find the trait that confirms an individual as carrying the capacity for SCP-XXXX replication and to monitor them for any long-term effects to their exposure.
Until further notice, only the approved list of E-Class personnel are permitted as test subjects for SCP-XXXX. Should your subordinates question this change in procedure, please refer them to me directly.
