Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a hypertonic solution. Most of the SCP-XXXXs are currently at Sector-██, where several containers of the most recommended solution, [REDACTED], are. Since SCP-XXXX is physically inert, no further containment measures shall be made.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a plain metallic cylinder standing at about 10.16 cm tall, with a diameter of 2 ½ cm. Upon exposure to a body of fluid, typically water, complete submersion of SCP-XXXX results in the solid becoming invisible to the naked eye. The cylinder is still tangible while submerged, and when removed from the liquid it appears in its normal solid state as if nothing happened.

SCP-XXXX becomes an anomaly when the subject submerging it lets go of the cylinder, letting it fall into the solution. The solid vanishes, becoming intangible. Dr. ███████ believes that the cylinder dissolved into the liquid at a molecular level, quickly spreading throughout. After a time frame of about ██ hours, the examined liquid showed signs of change, having formed a nauseating green hue with a rusted appearance. Contact with stimuli, most notably contact with touch, results in the production of a dense gas, commonly reported to be green, but sometimes yellow. All efforts to replicate the gaseous product have proven unsuccessful.

Upon the testing of subjects with the gas produced by SCP-XXXX, they have been reported to have begun to experience hallucinations within the first 15 minutes. With every reported case of exposure, subjects always describe a vaguely humanoid shadow with an array of around 8 tentacles materializing on a nearby surface, named SCP-XXXX-1. At around 45 minutes into the exposure, the presence of SCP-XXXX-1 seems to dissipate, as seen by the apparent eustress from the subjects around that timeframe. Evaluated mental damage results have fluctuated from mild to severe, with no clear trend. An artist's rendering of SCP-XXXX-1 will be added soon, as no photographic evidence of the hallucination can be properly made.

Addendum: Only around 200 samples of SCP-XXXX have been found, with all suspected locations where more would be found have turned up empty. As of now, around ███ of the 200 samples have been successfully contained.
