Special Containment Procedures: Scp-6824 is to be contained within a standard equipment locker held shut by an electromagnetic lock, currently being held within Site-77’s Laboratory wing. This lock is to be only openable by Level 2 personnel for matters of testing, in which case it should be immediately escorted to the test site. One security personnel must be stationed alongside SCP-6824 at all times, and in case of containment breach must secure SCP-6824 in any possible outcome. Personnel is not to under any circumstances use SCP-6824 for recreational purposes, nor are they to unlock SCP-6824’s locker until the proper paperwork is submitted and reviewed. SCP-6824-B is not to be removed from SCP-6824-A’s presence for any reason whatsoever. Any individual(‘s) found violating procedures will be reprimanded as seen fit.
Description: SCP-6824 is a copy of the popular family board game Scrabble©1, its origins stemming from the 1949 edition, shortly after James Brunot acquired the manufacturing rights from the original creator. The box appears to be faintly worn but otherwise is in near perfect condition. SCP-6824 consists of an entire box set and on first inspection appears to host no unusual properties, save for its apparent rarity. SCP-6824 holds a number of objects within its covering, detailed below:

SCP-6824 was recovered by The Foundation on ████/ ██/2000 after an undercover operative of MTF Iota-10 (“Damn Feds”) embedded in the Clark County police department reported an unusual 911 call near the ████████. Agents responding to the call found two males; ████████ ████ & his partner, both deceased. Both bodies were discovered having been suffering from severe amounts of decay, and the apartment they resided in appeared to be withering from a number of anomalous effects. ██ anomalous artifacts were discovered, including Mr.████’s corpse, having been suspended in the air and [REDACTED].
SCP-6824 was found on the coffee table, evidently in use, and was collected by agents. Class-A amnesiacs were administered to local police and eye-witnesses, and cover story 14 “Murder-Suicide” was implemented. SCP-6824was transported to Site-77 by Agent ██████ for initial testing and containment shortly after.
SCP-6824’s properties do not appear to manifest unless certain conditions are met, in which case they last until the ‘game’ has concluded. Two ‘players’ are to sit down in front of SCP-6824 on opposing sides. These players do not require any prerequisites to play. Upon preparing SCP-6824 each player must write their name onto SCP-6824-C using the pencil provided, after which they may begin the game as normal. SCP-6824must be played with the objects provided by it; SCP-6824-A, B, or C can not be used separately from each other to activate their function, although they do perform as standard entertainment if used in such a fashion.
Once the procedure is followed, SCP-XXXX's properties begin to appear. Any word placed while the game is in play triggers an unknown effect or object to materialize based on the word that is spelt on the board. Rules that would normally apply in Scrabble, however, such as the max amount of tiles you may hold or where you may place them, do not need to be followed for SCP-6824's properties to manifest.
This effect is primarily (and most intriguingly) present in words which would be otherwise considered ‘fake’ in the context of most known dictionaries and thesauruses. These words, while still considered genuine by the board, can be especially dangerous to researchers and test subjects due to their utter unpredictability. So far a number of tests have been conducted with SCP-6824, each with varying lengths, success rates, and subjects of interest.
Appendum 6824/1 - Recontainment Summary: On [REDACTED], during a containment breach involving a number of instances of SCP-039, two adolescents were found tampering with SCP-6824's containment locker. Having managed to unlock it and unpackage SCP-6824, both began to toy with SCP-6824, in the same manner to that of a small child. Both instances were given amnesiacs and contained, although SCP-6824 was found having SCP-6824-B open and the word ‘Xylzgnk’ spelt on the board. Two rough scratches were also visible on SCP-6824-C in pencil, imaginably SCP-039’s ‘signature’ of sorts.
It is unclear how SCP-039 was able to ‘sign’ SCP-6824-C despite their lack of sight, nor how they were able to open the equipment locker. Nevertheless, Both objects were delivered back into containment and ‘Xylzgnk’ has had no visible effect on the known world to date2
Appendum 6824/2 - Test Logs:Test 1 - ██/██/20██

Procedure: Both subjects are to be placed into a standard containment cell, where they will be directed to spell common English verbs.
Begin Video Log:
Dr.Mandrick: “Please sit down in your designated seat.”
D-1283: “Hey I used to play this all the time! Jenga, right?”
D-2543: “It says ‘Scrabble’ on the box, dumbass.”
D-1283: “Yeah, yeah, whatever. So… when do we start?”
Dr.Mandrick: “Please look at the letters directly in front of you. Now, D-1283, please place the word ‘play’, onto the board.”
D-1283: “Alright? These fucking eggheads man…”
D-1283 proceeds to spell ‘play’ on SCP-6824
D-1283: “That it? Where’s my fucking consolation prize?! God I-”
A billboard, picturing D-1283 dancing in a field of various flowers and captioned “Be Free!”, materializes on the north wall of the cell.
D-1283: “Oh, so you’re fucking with me huh?”
Dr.Mandrick: “D-2543, please spell the word 'run’ onto the board.”
D-2543: “well, I suppose I had a good run.”
D-1283: “[EXPLETIVE EXPUNGED]”
D-2543 spells 'run’ on SCP-6824. upon doing so, D-2543 stands.
Dr.Mandrick: “D-2543 please sit down or you wi-”
D-2543: “Oh shut it Doc, I'm just stretching my legs, just let me…”
Upon stepping forward, D-2543 disappears. Security cameras show D-2543 reappearing still within the containment cell 1.5 seconds later, a 2 meter in diameter splatter of [REDACTED] visible on the wall.
D-1283: “WHAT THE [EXPLETIVE EXPUNGED].”
Dr.Mandrick: “Test concluded.”
Addendum: Not only does it appear that SCP-6824's 'creations’ can vary based on the specific individual, but it also seems to carry a sense of humor. ~Dr.Mandrick
Incident 6824-A: On August 27th 2003, Site 77 suffered a severe blackout due to an anomalous shockwave, and although no containment breaches were made of note, the surrounding Italian countryside was temporarily completely stricken of electricity. Furthermore, Mount Vesuvius began to show severe signs of seismic activity. Fearing that the Volcano may have become active again due to the anomaly, Foundation officials implanted in the Italian government in ███ and ████ began to officialize incentives to evacuate the nearby countryside, to little effect. Mount Vesuvius did not undergo a volcanic event, but several protocols are now primed for a scenario where it erupts.
