Special Containment Procedures: Servers are already reinforced against invasions of SCP-3824; however, It may still be introduced through opening emails from unknown senders, downloading software, or browsing sites (outside of the Foundation server) with a surplus of pop-up ads.

All staff must use a Foundation-approved ad-block, VPN and anti-virus in order to prevent viruses and other undesirable foreign entities from entering the Foundation servers. Reports of SCP-3824 ads appearing for civilians must be immediately responded to by administering the required amnestics and contacting MCD to inform them of the incident

Urgent Update:

Staff are not to click on any ads created by SCP-3824 under any circumstances.

Description: SCP-3824 is an undetectable anomalous force that covers the entire planet and constantly tracks the actions of all members of the 'anomalous community' (all those who are aware of the existence of anomalies) as a real-life counterpart to digital 'cookies', which follow user's activity on the internet and employ the gathered information in order to supply suiting advertisements to users.

Ads supplied by SCP-3824 are usually similar to those found on fraudulent websites: they feature evocative titles and colours, and usually lead to a scam or virus when clicked on.

When an individual being actively tracked by SCP-3824 accesses the internet, the user will be supplied with fitting advertisements provided by anomalous retail companies such as Marshall, Carter and Dark.

SCP-3824 was originally a project proposed and developed by the Foundation's Accountancy Division in order to increase funds. An attack on the Foundation servers, carried out by an unknown person or persons under the employ of MCD, managed to retrieve a large quantity of data concerning Foundation developments. Upon learning of this development, MCD managed to penetrate Foundation server defences and steal SCP-3824 for their own uses. The project was still in developmental stages at the time and MCD adapted the anomaly to be much more widespread and intrusive. MCD now sells ad-space to other retail-based GOIs and SCPs. Re-acquisition of the SCP's code in its current state is to be considered an utmost priority in the event of a hacking attack on MCD data.
