A top-down view of SCP-XXXX

Special Containment Procedures: At present, SCP-XXXX is stored in a secure locker at Site-██. Due to its anomalous composition, no additional containment maintenance is required.

Following Incident A-21, all further testing of SCP-XXXXs primary effect has been limited to Level-4 or higher personnel, requiring special validation from the Ethics Committee. Unless specified otherwise, usage of SCP-XXXX on subjects who have developed a natural relationship is strictly prohibited. Breach of conduct will lead to immediate disciplinary action.

Due to the mnemonic effects of SCP-XXXX, and its prevalent potential to be used as a potent Class-C and Class-H amnestic, a request for relocation to Site-██ and utilization as a promising countermeasure to [REDACTED] has been filed and is currently under review.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a pair of medieval scissors, unconditioned, of unusual composition and unknown origin. Whilst made from seemingly regular iron, it is unsusceptible to the process of rust and corrosion. As discovered by the use of an electron microscope, SCP-XXXX ultrastructure harbors an anomalous constellation of atoms, denoted as a new, fifth allotrope type, temporarily labeled ζ (Zheta). Defying the concept of equilibrium, all iron particles inside the respective ion-lattice are bound in strong, electromagnetic pairs, bringing about the scissor's abnormal hardiness to weathering and external forces. Recreation of allotrope ζ has been, to this day, proven unsuccessful.

These properties have made it exceedingly hard to pinpoint the exact date of creation; whilst its design correlates with other historic sources, and is in line with tools found around the years 700-480 B.C, no damage was found even down to a microscopic level. As such, SCP-XXXX could have very well been created in the modern century. The only hint to its true origin is validated by the insignia on one of its blades, "ΑΤΡΟΠΟΣ ΕΝΑΙΡΩ ΕΡΩΣ", which directly translates to "Atropos has slain Desire" or "Atropos killed Eros"¹.

SCP-XXXXs 'primary effect' is the unconditional ability to sever the emotional connection between two people of close relation. Upon touching the scissor's surface, immaterial threads of various colors and thickness become visible only to the beholder amidst groups of people no further than 10ft apart (Addendum A). They are intangible by normal means, vanishing from sight once the holder ceases physical contact with SCP-XXXX or are stretched to their limit. Additionally, the user grows an exponential craving to split these threads apart, under the condition that he maintains physical contact with the scissors.

Severing a strand with the use of SCP-XXXX's blades causes even the deepest interpersonal affection between the subject pair to disappear, preventing the development of new fervid feelings. Memories harboring great sentimental value are removed, leaving an inconclusive, incomprehensible jargon of information to fill the holes (Addendum B). There hasn't been a single instance in which the scissors were unable to cut both the figurative and symbolic link between people. This includes the strongest bonds created by a decadelong relationship, or artificial love formed using chemicals or other anomalous objects (Addendum C).

Addendum Log

Addendum A: This is a detailed record of all observed forms of strands originating from SCP-XXXX subjects. Tests were both held in public space and natural environments, as well as under artificial conditions. Due to the aforementioned circumstances, only subjective interpretations are available. However, with the number of reports made, a common consensus was found. Said strands gradually change their appearance as the relationship between the linked subjects deteriorates/evolves, often in correlation to their color.

Strand Thickness	Description
Very thin (0.2mm to 1mm)	A very recent acquaintance, or a subliminal affection undiscovered by the subjects.
Thin (1mm to 3mm)	A relatively new relationship, ranging from a few days to several weeks, or a flimsy connection between the subjects.
Medial (3mm to 5mm)	An established connection between subjects. Commonly found amidst dating individuals and distant family members.
Thick (5mm to 1cm)	A well-developed relationship, often going back as far as years. Married couples and child-parent bonds frequently harbor this strand width.
Very Thick (1cm to ?cm)	An extensively refined relationship in which both subjects show utmost adoration for one another.
Abnormal (N/A)	Strong variations in a single strand's thickness, often fluctuating from thin to thick as it runs across.
Strand Color
White	A pure relationship, with but little memory associated with the connection. Often accompanied by the "very thin" strand thickness.
Pink	A balanced connection between subjects, with a relatively common constellation of affection.
Red	An intimate relationship, often driven by pleasure. A darker hue correlates with pain.
Green	A relationship based on distrust. Both subjects often show suspicion to one another, but lack evidence of thereof.
Blue	A sorrowful relationship. Grief or strong sympathy exists between the subjects.
Black	Not a relationship. A lie. A dishonest palpitation formed under unnatural means.

Addendum B: [CURRENTLY WORK-IN-PROGRESS]

Addendum C: As specified, SCP-#### has been successfully used to circumvent the effects of SCP-████ on the Site-17 Agent ██████ after incident [REDACTED]. Whilst the anomalous object retained its properties, Agent ██████ developed complete insipidness towards SCP-████, seemingly becoming immune to its memetic dangers. The extent of said immunity is unconfirmed, though, as it is unclear to which magnitude said immunity could have been pretended. However, several further tests were permitted by the O5-Council, awaiting a continued analysis.

Alternatively, wrapping the object in fabric serves as a temporary means of containment. Due to the substantial hardiness of SCP-XXXX, no extensive maintenance is required. Handling of SCP-XXXX prior to the authorization from an ECR² assigned to Site-## is strictly prohibited. Breach of conduct will lead to immediate disciplinary action.

Given SCP-XXXX's mnemonic effects, and its prevalent potential to be used as a potent Class-C and Class-H amnestic, a request for relocation to Site-YY and utilization as a promising countermeasure to [REDACTED] has been filed and is currently awaiting review.

SCP-XXXX should, naturally, not be used for appliances (refer to Incident A12).

A little bin for me to write down ideas and/or changes to the SCP. Obviously not the final product, 'duh. This stuff seems mostly similar, but there are changes in phrasing to better pace the document.

Potential Version 1:
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a secure locker at Site-##. As was legislated by the Ethics Committee on the 14th of February, 2021, all access to SCP-XXXX has been limited to Level-4 and higher personnel. Due to moral gripes, testing with wed, engaged, amatory, or otherwise attracted subjects has been suspended indefinitely. Authorization from an ECR assigned to the site is detrimental preceding experiments involving SCP-XXXX. Breach of conduct will lead to immediate disciplinary action.

Given the mnemonic effects on test subjects prior to test-prohibit 14F, SCP-XXXX's promising capabilities as both a Class-C and -H amnestic have been noted, subsequently allowing relocation to Site-##. A request has been filed and is currently under review.

Contrary to common sense, SCP-XXXX should only be cleaned or polished when it impedes the ability to contain the item.

Potential Version 1:
Description: For the purpose of clarification, SCP-XXXX has been placed in a new branch of items, eloquently categorized as 'Morai'-class. SCP-XXXX is a pair of safe-numen shepherd shears, of unknown composition and speculatory origin. One of its anomalous properties is inherent transparency, making it invisible in discernable spectrums. This is however offset by obscure means, as SCP-XXXX naturally gathers dirt and grime from both physical and metaphysical sources in its vicinity. SCP-XXXXs ability to cut is not impeded by the amount of impurity enclosing it, and caution is advised when handling the seemingly blunt parts of the blade. Testing has shown that the time it takes for the shears to gather muck is greatly reduced when it is in the presence of subjects showing great affection to one another. It is speculated that there is no upper limit as to how much dirt can be gathered, but the effect exponentially stagnates as the shears become heavier than 5lbs.

SCP-XXXX is able to change the 'universal truth' of said fruitless love, hence its relocation as a Morai-class. Whilst the memories of those unaffected do not change, locations and objects related to the relationship do, regardless of whether or not they are of a material kind. This includes, but is not limited to, poetry, pictures, drawings, graffiti, and gifts of any kind. The extent of said change will only go as far as the memory has to be changed to further accommodate the new reality.
