Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be observed using foundation satellites when possible. All foundation space stations are to report and monitor any instances of SCP-XXXX that leave the Sun’s corona layer. All migration events of SCP-XXXX to Earth’s upper atmosphere are to be discredited as a common meteorological event that is most applicable to the region of its occurrence.
One Juvenile specimen of the SCP-XXXX species is to be kept at a foundation biological research site for testing purposes No instance of SCP-XXXX is to be kept at any site during any stage of its life cycle following incident___. Juvenile specimens are to be tagged and relocated when entering populated areas.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a species of organism that inhabit the upper layers of the Sun. There is no current taxonomic classification for the species however they are most morphologically similar to Scleropages formosus or the Asian arowana. Adult instances of SCP-XXXX are massive, with the largest recorded individuals reaching over 500 meters in length. Adult individuals rarely leave the Sun’s upper layers, preferring the chromosphere region. Members of the species all have a luminescent golden colouration throughout the body. Male individuals of the species have a distinctive membrane that runs from the anal fin to the dorsal fin. This membrane is normally folded along the body, only used for display and in territorial disputes between individuals.

SCP-XXXX instances appear to consume a diet purely of light energy. The biochemical mechanisms of this metabolic process are not understood. SCP-XXXX instances can be seen basking for several days without movement which has been classified as feeding behaviour.

SCP-XXXX instances form lifelong mating pairs and engage in a mating event every 50 years. During courtship the male’s tail membrane unfolds and begins to glow iridescently. Mating occurs after around an hour after the male begins his display . There are currently 16 mating pairs known. After a 24 month gestation period the pair begins to migrate towards Earth were the female will lay a single clutch of around 3 to 5 eggs in the upper mesosphere. The eggs are 7 meters in diameter, transparent and covered by a layer of mucus. Male instances accompany their mate to the outer orbit of Earth but do not enter the atmosphere. This can be problematic as the male can damage foundation or government equipment in orbit.

Life cycle of SCP-XXXX

Once and adult SCP-XXXX specimen lays eggs in the atmosphere, the eggs are abandoned and the embryo begins to grow over a period of months. Throughout development the eggs begin to sink from the mesosphere to the lower stratosphere where they hatch. Hatchlings of SCP-XXXX resemble the larvae stage of oceanic eel species, with a flattened and transparent body, however they are 10 meters in length on average. It is at this stage that tagging much be carried out by foundation personnel. with GPS trackers.
After 1 year the hatchlings reach their Juvenile size and begin to move into the lower atmosphere. At this stage there is the highest risk of human interaction with SCP-XXXX as juvenile instances exhibit high levels of curiosity towards their environment. Their transparent nature mates them difficult to detect and record. Any media showing instances of SCP-XXXX should be discredited as a hoax and amnestics utilized when necessary.
Once SCP-XXXX instances reach 5 years of age the move to outer orbit and begin to produce a slime that hardens into a cocoon. After a week SCP-XXXX instances emerge with adult body features and colouration. They then begin their migration to the corona layer of the Sun where they will carry out behaviour exhibited by adult instances.

Incident() report
A Juvenile instance of SCP-XXXX which was contained at site() under the supervision of Dr. () was undergoing testing to determine the exact mechanism of the feeding process of the species. When exposed to completely dark conditions for 72 hours the subject became dormant. Class D personnel were sent into the containment unit to observe the specimen however on coming into contact the entity became hostile and attacked several of the personnel and proceeded to breach containment. Re-containment was deemed impractical by Dr.() due to the potential of site wide containment breaches the specimen was terminated using heavy gunfire. The deceased specimen began emitting a bright beam of light that lasted for 24 hours. The following night two instances of adult SCP-XXXX entered the Earth’s lower atmosphere and began rapidly moving to site(). The two entities hovered over the site for 5 minutes then proceeded to attack the facility. All on site weaponry proved ineffective. Most of the above ground section of the facility was destroyed.
Note from former site() director:
We must enforce more strict measures when monitoring juvenile instances of SCP-XXXX in the wild and prevent any interaction with human activity. Who knows when one will be hit by a plane or worse killed on purpose in a populated area! We can’t deal with the parents in a city without severe casualties.
Addendum.1:
Some the largest instances have been exhibiting unnatural behaviour as of _/_/2019. These individuals seem to be moving to the lower layers of the Sun are no longer visible to foundation satellites. Solar phenomenon around the site of entry of these SCP-XXXX instances has increased greatly over the past year. If this is another stage of growth for SCP-XXXX this can be problematic.
