Item #: SCP-3529
Object class: Euclid
Special containment procedures: SCP-3529 is to be kept in a locked steel safe. Any corrosion or damage to the safe is to be reported and fixed. The lock on the safe is to be changed every 6 months. Access to SCP-3529 is restricted to Level 2 Level 3 personnel who have had a psychic evaluation in the past 3 months.
Description: SCP-3529 is a standard Bell & Howell autoload-type Super 8 video camera. The physical construction of SCP-3529 appears to be normal except for the film cartridge, which is affixed to SCP-3529 by unknown means. Attempts to remove the cartridge have been met with failure. Thanks to Dr. ████ (see addendum 3529-4) Samples of SCP-3529’s plastic covering has been taken yet appear to correspond to normal Bell & Howell video cameras. The only visible damage to SCP-3529 is an uneven hole cut into the cartridge allowing to access the film inside, how this hole was made is as-of-yet unknown.
The film inside SCP-3529, can only be removed out of the hole in the side of cartridge. The film has no discernable ends and must be cut to remove segments (see addendum 3529-3). The only known process of developing film from SCP-3529 is a modified EM-26 process under a blacklight, note that the blacklight is required for the film to develop an image; This process was found at the site of Incident 3529-A, at the same time as the recovery of SCP-3529.
Any person in front of SCP-3529 that is unobstructed from the waist up experiences severe muscle cramping in the legs and arms, as well as extreme panic. Any exposure under a minute results in the subject being heavily disturbed but unable to explain why they were so afraid. Exposure over one-minute leads to a permanent feeling of unease, insomnia, and occasionally muscle tearing. Subjects exposed for over 5 minutes report being stalked by a tall shadow covered in “hairs” and all appendages coming to points.
The shadow, designated SCP-3529-1, has only been seen by those unexposed to SCP-3529 through film developed from SCP-3529. When SCP-3529 is taping, the subject will only experience the above effects if the person filming expresses displease with the subject’s performance. SCP-3529 has proven to be fatal in some instances although the reasoning for this is not entirely understood. SCP-3529 appears to have no range limit, and its effects rely simply on visibility.
