Special Containment Procedures: Any house in which an opening to SCP-XXXX-1 is discovered should be evacuated and claimed by the Foundation. Each SCP-XXXX pantry is to be padlocked shut, only opened once a week for feeding. During each feeding, twenty pounds of commercial cereal bars are to be placed inside each instance. If this does not suffice to stop SCP-XXXX-2 attacks, more cereal bars should be added until the entities are no longer hostile.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of seven pantries found across North America, which, upon opening, are lined with shelves. At the far end of each pantry, the walkspace turns sharply to one side, revealing a passageway with no apparent ending, designated SCP-XXXX-1.
Upon exploration, the passage widens out from five feet across at eight, and the walls take on a rougher structure, although still made of the same material. At approximately two miles in, each passageway begins to branch off, often several times. Each branch eventually leads to another instance of SCP-XXXX, the material of the wall changing abruptly halfway to the next instance to match the material of its making.

Several small entities, designated SCP-XXXX-2, inhabit the series of passages. SCP-XXXX-2 are the size of a house cat, with six small limbs ending in hooked claws. Strangely, SCP-XXXX-2 instances emit little to no body heat. Instances tend to be docile, and even wary of humans, as long as they have enough food. SCP-XXXX-2 subsist on the food stored in these pantries, using their limbs and claws to open items such as cans and bottles.

When SCP-XXXX-2 instances do not have enough food, they become hostile and will attempt to find and kill any life form nearby and consume it. However, due to their size, they are not a threat to humans. If sufficient force is applied, however, a group of SCP-XXXX-2 may manage to break down an SCP-XXXX door and forage around the house and neighborhood. For this reason, instances are to be provided with food weekly.

Overpopulation of SCP-XXXX-2 has not proven to be an issue, as instances have a relatively short life span of half a year, and do not seem to produce more than two offspring in their lives.

Interviewer: Dr. Lyons

Foreword: Dr. Lyons interviews the team leader following the investigation of SCP-XXXX by MTF Unity Psi-7.

Dr. Lyons: Please explain what happened when you entered the house.

Agent Rooney: Well, first off the door was unlocked. Whoever lived there got out in a hurry. As soon as we got in one of those cat-things jumped at us.

Dr. Lyons: SCP-XXXX-2? Why do you say it looked like a cat?

Agent Rooney: It had the ears and all, ‘bout the same size as a housecat I think. Damn thing had six legs, though. I fired at it, and it booked it to the kitchen, probably to the pantry. Thing was left wide open, there was all kinds of garbage on the floor.

Dr. Lyons: Garbage?

Agent Rooney: You know, food wrappers. Further in we found a dead dog— or the bones of one.

Dr. Lyons: How did you proceed to enter the space?

Agent Rooney: Well, after we got a few steps in it was obvious it was one of those spatial anomalies. Dark, too, but our damn flashlights wouldn’t work. I thought the batteries were low or summat, but it worked just fine when I went out and checked. Same for the rest of the team. We had to go back, get some infrared goggles. Thought those would help us look for those cat-things, but you know what? They don’t even show up, hardly.

Dr. Lyons: They don’t emit any body heat?

Agent Rooney: Nah. They showed up fucking green. We just saw ‘em when they moved.

Dr. Lyons: Wouldn’t it have been easy to pick them out, since it was just a plain hallway?

Agent Rooney: The thing roughened up. Like we were in a cave of sorts, even the floor was bumpy. Then the thing turned into a goddamn maze.

Dr. Lyons: Pardon?

Agent Rooney: It branched off into a bunch of halls. We followed one of them— well, we tied some string to a stalagmite thing. There were stalagmites made out of fucking plaster and wood… anyways, it just led to another goddamn pantry. We left in Ohio and came out in Idaho.

Dr. Lyons: How long did it take to get from one to the other?

Rooney shrugs.

Agent Rooney: One, two hours?

Dr. Lyons: How did you deal with the XXXX-2’s?

Agent Rooney: Actually, there weren’t a lot of them at first. After we shot a few times at them, they kinda laid off. Anyways, we flagged up that place in Idaho. There was still someone living in that house, they hadn’t had an issue with the XXXX-2’s yet. We cleared ‘em out and yeah. Once that location was secure, one of you guys had us get some food, go back in, follow all the halls. You know, see if there were any other locations.

Dr. Lyons: You found five more, correct?

Agent Rooney: Yeah, no thanks to the dash-two’s.

Dr. Lyons: I thought you said you didn’t have any problems with them?

Agent Rooney: It was our rations. They wanted the food. We actually had to camp in there one night— next morning most of everything was gone, just a bunch of wrappers. I think the damn things were just hungry.
