Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Foundation Webcrawlers are to be constantly searching for evidence of SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects. In case an instance is discovered, the media is to be taken down by interacting directly with the platform's associated owners. Any instances that are not taken down in time are to be hidden and covered by a link of the uncorrupted media. This has proven to be effective short term. Total eradication of SCP-XXXX has been unsuccessful thus far. Through personal interviews disguised as simple surveys of mundane topics, subjects in the media depicted are now assumed to be unaware of SCP-XXXX's influence, and are to be considered living their lives normally.

Any instance of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be recorded and/or downloaded when possible for Foundation research.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a collective term for an internet-based anomaly that targets videos with a common theme of craftsmanship. This includes wood & metalworking, welding, construction, and in one case, origami.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects manifest within several hours of noticed contamination, usually in the form of a corrupted link or web address, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. In the case of videos, the subject, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 in the video is depicted in a very unusual manner. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 show signs of nervousness, including extreme perspiration, redness in ears and face, shaky breathing, visible trembling in hands, and a look of fear on the subject's face (including wide eyes, dry mouth, and rapid eye movement).

SCP-XXXX-1 also contains several oddities in the manner the video is filmed. The camera quality is noticeably worse in quality, with less definition and an unbalanced camera (as if it were filmed by an inexperienced hand). The room or area the video is filmed has very dim lights and next to no outside noise, except in rare cases. The following oddities are consistent with all media seized by the Foundation.

  • Very low quality in materials used (scrap wood, rusted metals, etc.)
  • Faulty, damaged, and/or makeshift tools.
  • Various injuries on SCP-XXXX-2's hands, arms, and face.
  • Video ending abruptly upon completion of the object being made.
