Special Containment Procedures: There is to be a 3 foot high gate surrounding SCP-001. Only those scheduled for exploration of SCP-001-1 may enter the pond. No civilians are allowed to be near SCP-001 during exploration of SCP-001-1.
Description: SCP-001 is an opaque black pond in the Amazon Rain Forest. SCP-001's liquid feels and tastes like water. If anyone is submerged within SCP-001, they are immediately transported to SCP-001-1, which is a giant city on an island surrounded by the black liquid. The city looks similar to Manhattan, only much bigger. The inhabitants of SCP-001-1 are humanoid entities designated as SCP-001-2, and have the IQ of humans. Most instances of SCP-001-2 are friendly to each other and any outsiders, and will usually redirect any visitors to a pond in the middle of the city made out of the same black liquid if asked for a way to escape. Going through this pond will take the visitor back near SCP-001 in the real world.
The SCP-001-1 civilization is far more advanced than us, using technology for many things, and has been using wind turbines for energy. No fossil fuel plants have been found in SCP-001-1. The most popular part of SCP-001-1 is their robots. They come in all shapes and sizes, with some resembling robots that exist in the real world, plus original ones. It was discovered that SCP-001-1 uses the black liquid to power most of these robots. SCP-001-1 has been calling this liquid "Xandlex" (zz-and-uhl-ex).
Addendum 001-01: Traces of Xandlex have been found in the power source of SCP-8654. This possibly means that SCP-8654 was created by the SCP-001-1 civilization.
