Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in a locked safe at Site-15. All personel involved in containing SCP-XXXX must be weekly evaluated for memetic contamination, and any individual found to be infected is to be treated to Class-B amnestics and moved to another project. Mental Hospitals should be monitored for individuals showing signs of infection, leading to containment of additional instances of SCP-XXXX. New instances shall be recovered by a MTF trained to deal with memetic hazards. Subjects infected by SCP-XXXX shall be considered dangerous and must be restrained prior to the admnistration of amnestics.
Description: SPC-XXXX consists of 6498 contained and an unknown number of uncontained promotion paper pamphlets containing the word "Você Decide" (portuguese for "You Decide") in a font that resembles, althought not being exactly the same, the one used for official publicity of the "Você Decide" TV Show, aired in Brazil from 1992 to 2000. The memetic effect is bound to the reading of the text, even without subject comprehension of the language.
Any human who reads the text starts developing an addiction for the mental process of making choices. The process is slow at first, with the infected subject developing a sense of pleasure from vocalizing the words "I choose to" after describing his next action. This vocal phase lasts exactly one week, at which point subjetcs start experience enourmous pleasure from making day-to-day basic choices, such as what to eat for lunch os which path to walk home. After exactly two weeks of contact, subjects will choose one especific behavior pattern and repeat it until it collapses of exhaustion. After it recovers, it will start to reenact the same pattern, until it eventually dies. Any attempts to interrupt the subject chosen action pattern is met with extreme violence.
SCP-XXXX was first noticed by the Foundation after brazilian authorities started to report on a "devastating new drug". In the slums near the [REDACTED] City Hospital, 786 instances of SCP were found on the streets, with other 5712 instances being recovered afterwards in different regions of the country.
So far, no instances of SCP-XXXX have been found in any other country, even though the show was also aired at least in Portugal, and similar versions exist in many other nations. This leads to the conclusion that, despite the connection, there's no real link between SCP-XXXX and the actual TV show.
