Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within an enclosed glass perimeter, with dimensions of 3m * 3m * 4m. Under no circumstances (aside from previously granted permissions of testing) shall anyone enter the containment chamber. Anyone who enters the chamber outside of these conditions is to be terminated at the earliest convenience of foundation personnel as an act of mercy.
It is important to note that the existence of SCP-XXXX's glass chamber is unnecessary for containment. SCP-XXXX has not been observed to move on its own, or with assistance via instances of SCP-XXXX-1. Said chamber exists specifically for the safety of foundation personnel.
The Foundation will not replace the chamber again if it is broken. Repeat instances of event XXXX-E-42 occur far too often, and further instances will not be tolerated.
Description: SCP-XXXX resembles an Olympia SGE-30 Electric Typewriter from the mid-1970s. Current sample studies indicate that SCP-XXXX is much older, with estimates between 2000-4000 years of age. More accurate carbon dating has proven impossible as a result of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties, more specifically its ability to regrow and █████ pieces of itself. Leading Researcher Dr. Malcolm has theorized that the oldest portions of SCP-XXXX would exist at the center of its structure, though this has never been verified.
It is not currently understood how SCP-XXXX took on the form of a 20th century electric typewriter, however it is hypothesized that it may have done so due to its ability to [REDACTED]. Further study on the matter is currently awaiting approval.
SCP-XXXX has the anomalous ability to possess any individual that comes within a one meter radius (known as SCP-XXXX-1), provided SCP-XXXX is not in use by an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 at the time. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 appear to lose all cognitive ability, though current research cannot confirm this due to behaviour of instances of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 specimens have been observed to - in all instances except one (see Addendum-XXXX-E-36) - desire nothing but to continue SCP-XXXX-2 (a series of novels written thus far by various instances of SCP-XXXX-1, informally dubbed "Tales of Lynorria" by staff). Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will resume writing immediately after they begin interacting with SCP-XXXX, even without any prior knowledge to the lore established by SCP-XXXX-2. Due to this, it is assumed that SCP-XXXX is sapient, has the ability to possess individuals, and that anyone who becomes an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 forfeits control of their body to SCP-XXXX. It is unknown whether SCP-XXXX has some link to SCP-696, and due to the Neutralized nature of SCP-696 it is unlikely that a connection will ever be established, provided one exists.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will go to extreme lengths to ensure their writing session remains uninterrupted (see various Incident reports; Addendum-XXXX-12, Addendum-XXXX-E-36, Addendum-XXXX-57). Upon the death of an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, (most often due to dehydration, starvation, or circulatory issues as a result of being sedentary for an extended period of time) the body will begin to rapidly decay. Muscle will rot at a rate of ███, and limbs will often rot and detach from the deceased individual in a way resembling the advanced stages of Gangrene. Eyes will also ████████ ████, before ███ ██████ ██.
SCP-XXXX-2 has not been observed as a prevalent cognitohazard or infohazard. The largest evidence toward either of these possibilities is that most who hear of its existence possess a great desire to read it, though it is unknown whether this is an anomalous property possessed by SCP-XXXX-2 or a genuine interest in the material. As part of an ongoing experiment, three printed and bound copies of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be placed in circulation among D-Class personnel. Another copy may be accessed by researchers and other personnel upon request, if one wishes to read SCP-XXXX-2.
Note From Dr. Malcolm: I honestly can't wait until the next entry in SCP-XXXX-2 is finished. It's a relief that the series doesn't seem to go through multiple drafts or anything, as its made this whole process so much faster than I would've expected.
I seriously recommend anyone give it a read if you have the time. Honestly it's better to get into it now than wait for the eighteenth or nineteenth installment to release. There's enough fantasy adventure to sink your teeth into as is.
As of right now, Dr. Malcolm has requested an increase in testing of SCP-XXXX. The request has not been granted.
Addendum-XXXX-12:
I WILL CONTINUE FROM HERE, BUT I SERIOUSLY HAVE TO GO TO BED RN. A MAJORITY OF THE ARTICLE IS COMPLETE, HOWEVER. SO JUDGE AWAY! SCP REMAINS UNNAMED BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHICH NUMBER IT WILL BE WHEN I'M FINISHED. OBVIOUSLY ALL "XXXX"s WILL BE REPLACED WITH THE CHOSEN NUMBER IN THE FINAL DRAFT.
