Special Containment Procedures: Individuals affected by SCP-XXXX Should be contained in site 23-C. They can be kept in normal cells however it is important to keep SCP-XXXX individuals in rooms with windows and ceiling panels that cannot be opened from within even if out of reach.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a unique cell that develops in victims of explosions 2-6 weeks after they survive a blast. It is extremely rare, in fact there are only 13 recorded cases of victims floating after being involved in various types of explosions. The exact circumstances in an explosion that results in a SCP-XXXX cell development is still unknown. This was initially recorded during World War I and rare cases have been documented ever since though decades have passed between recorded cases. Injured but living patients that had lost limbs or suffered wounds via explosions after a delayed period developed the ability to levitate themselves as if in a 0 gravity environment. Subjects have no control over what direction they move and have to pull themselves or generate momentum via alternate means.
Individuals with SCP-XXXX can enable or disable this ability innately through neural triggers.
SCP-XXXX cells share several similarities to cancer cells. They divide relentlessly as cancer cells do. These cells do not result in solid tumors as cancer cells might however and instead spread throughout the body via metastasis1.
The process of SCP-XXXX growing and spread throughout a hosts body can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks potentially resulting in some or all of the following effects on the host throughout the duration: minor headaches, drowsiness, low energy, visions of the causal event and loss of appetite. It is a consistently minor and safe transformation process despite these symptoms.
SCP-XXXX cells have a temporal connection to the moment of explosion that initially created the original SCP-XXXX cell. When a person with SCP-XXXX “enables” their ability to levitate, they are activating this temporal connection.
Addendum: Only 6 cases of SCP-XXXX are alive and kept in containment presently.
The reasoning behind the ability to levitate because of this temporal connection is only theorized at this point.
These cells can be transplanted into people who have not been victim to explosions. Individuals that have received transplanted SCP-XXXX cells are capable of SCP-XXXX levitation if the cells are allowed to grow and spread throughout the body.
In April 2004 3 SCP-XXXX patients attempted to escape containment. During a routine interview they grabbed doctors and levitated to the tops of their rooms threatening to drop their victims unless set free. MTF were deployed into the situation and determined that the 10 ft fall wouldn’t injure the doctors. They detained these 3 SCP-XXXX patients with non lethal rifles carrying sedatives and one of the lead doctors suffered minor bruising after falling onto a metal chair.
In October 2013 it was discovered that SCP-XXXX individuals have a minor telepathic link with one another. This link is only active within a range of 300-400 feet. They cannot convey thoughts to one another however they have a minor emotional link, this has led to stronger social connections between SCP-XXXX individuals. Besides this strengthened empathy and social connection it is a property of little note.
