Item #: 5942
Object class: Euclid
Containment procedure: SCP 5942 is to be kept at site ██ in its containment chamber located 100 m below sea level to prevent any exposure to sunlight. It's non illuminated 20 x 20 x 20 m chamber is to be kept at a temperature below 15°C (59°F) with the the multiple cooling devices on 2 backup generators. Two guards are to be positioned outside of its containment chamber equipped with silenced pistols and night vision goggles.
A clearance level 4 is required to enter the containment chamber, a search is also required as to prevent the loss of any important personnel, materials or equipment. Once entry is permitted by site staff, the personnel entering the containment chamber are to remove shoes and be equipped with night vision goggles before the manual doors are opened by site staff and are to remain open until all personnel who entered have left.
Description: SCP 5942 appears to be an abstract statue of a man sat on a 120 x 60 x 70 m block. The figure is sat length-ways with its feet on the block and it's arms wrapped around its knees. The cuboid has an engraving that says "A quite place is a happy place" on the left-hand side of the block. The entire statue appears to be made of a silver-like metal; Exact material is unknown as it is impossible to obtain a sample due to the nature of the SCP.
The anomalous property of the statue is that it causes any object or thing that causes a "disturbance" to dissappear without trace. What the statue considers a "disturbance" is as follows:
- Being exposed to a sound of 76 Decibels or more
- Anything travelling faster than 5mph within a 15m radius
- Being exposed to a light source of 1600 lumens or more
- Experiencing a force of 104 Newtons or more
- Anything causing it's environment to be over 18°C (64.4°F)
- Anything about to cause damage to the statue
How SCP 5942 erases objects and where they go is unknown but we do know that it can't erase everything as discovered in experiment 5942-096(see below).
It also seems that SCP 5942 can get "agitated" if enough "disturbances" occur and will cause it to be more sensitive to them. As of yet, there seems to be no way to reverse this effect.
Other "disturbances" are currently being investigated and this document will be updated when one is discovered.
Additional notes: The sentience of SCP 5942 is unclear and is currently under investigation.
If a "disturbance" is caused by an object, and there is no path from SCP 5942 to the object in question, then all blockages in the direct path from SCP 5942 to the object will be erased. The distance for which SCP 5942 can erase an object is currently unknown.
When SCP 5942 was originally discovered, it was fine with a small amount of sun light, but in our attemt to contain the annomily it got agitated and now if sunlight were to hit SCP 5942, the sun could be erased and could cause an ZK-class event.
Addendum: SCP 5942 was discovered deep in a forest in ████████, Finland after several missing person reports had been issued in the area. A mobile task force was deployed and after several loses of men and equipment the anomalous quality was discovered and safety measures were initiated. SCP 5942 was then contained at site of origin until a transport method was devised and was transported to its current site of containment. The creator of the statue is still unknown.
Experiment 5942-096: On 23/07/██ a termination attempt for SCP 096 was issued; Using SCP 5942 we would erase SCP 096. SCP 096 was placed near SCP 5942 within the containment cell; D-27463, who was positioned right outside of SCP 5942's containment cell and equipped with night-vision goggles, was told to look at SCP 096's face.
The moment SCP 096 started screaming, it's skin, muscles and organs disappeared but its skeleton remained, SCP 096 appeared to be unfazed by this and continued to attack the D-class personnel. SCP 096 was removed from SCP 5942's cell after it had calmed and was returned to containment. Scans indicated that SCP 096's skeletal structure and brain were unharmed, which led to a theory that SCP 5942 knows what it can and can't destroy and will not try to destroy something it cannot and that it must be able to access the object it is erasing. On another note, SCP 096 did not directly attack SCP 5942 which shows that SCP 5942 is either blind or lacks sentience.
