Close-up of the entrance to SCP-####, situated down the 'throat'.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be contained within Site-####, specially constructed at the entrance to SCP-####. Site-#### is to remain disguised as a small geological survey building to deter any public interest. Site-#### must always be staffed by three researchers of clearance Level 2 3 with a CRV of no less than 70. Any signs of Cognitohazardous effects on staff are to be reported immediately to project lead Dr. Benjamin Avery Dr. Frederick Weston. Any attempt made by Foundation personnel above D-class to enter SCP-#### is to be met with force.
Any locals found within 200m of the entrance of- or attempting to gain access to SCP-#### are to be apprehended, questioned, administered Class-A amnestics and delivered to the village of [REDACTED] to be released. Use of force is authorised only when necessary. Light personal defence weapons are provided on-site in a secured lock-box.
Any demonstration of prior knowledge of an 'Antique Oil Lamp' by any Foundation Personnel or civilian in any capacity is grounds for detainment, questioning and report to a Director of Security Clearance LVL4.
[Special Containment Procedures updated ██/██/2020 following Event-####-A. Object Class revised from Euclid to Esoteric.]
Description: SCP-#### is a cave of unknown dimensions located in [REDACTED]. The entrance to the cave is set into a rocky formation, the face of which loosely resembles the countenance of a member of the genus Panthera. SCP-#### emits a cognitohazardous effect up to 200m from the entrance. The effect induces in subjects an intense curiosity directed at the cave, and some affected subjects have reported hearing a 'deep, raspy voice' conveying the need to find a person 'whose worth lies far within'. SCP-####'s effect also induces hallucinations in some subjects, inclusively being 'bright orange light in the 'eyes' and 'mouth' of the rock formation'.
SCP-#### was first brought to Foundation attention when a tourist Caving group disappeared without explanation in the region of [REDACTED], Saudi Arabia. Two Foundation agents were lost in attempts to search SCP-#### after all electronic surveillance efforts failed. Since then Foundation personnel above the level of D-class have been prohibited from entering SCP-####. Ongoing experiments involving D-class subjects are directed at the discretion of Dr. Benjamin Avery Dr. Frederick Weston as project lead.
Prior to the events detailed in Addendum ####-1, any attempts to enter SCP-#### proved fruitless. Upon leaving the sight of external observers, all subjects entering the cave would emit an exclamation of surprise before falling completely silent and unresponsive. During a closure event the tunnel portion of the entrance collapses, and remains closed for a period of 13-42 hours. After said period, any aggregate blocking the entrance rapidly crumbles and deteriorates into sand, once again opening SCP-####. Efforts by Speleologists and Geologists to analyse the aggregate and surrounding cliff face have failed to produce any anomalous results.
Addendum ####-1: Update ██/██/2019
Following reports from D-class subjects involved in experiments on SCP-####, Dr. Benjamin Avery began filing requests for D-class based on evaluations of their morality. Successful egress of several D-class subjects from SCP-#### and correlations between them has led Dr. Benjamin Avery to conclude that SCP-#### has some measure of ability to determine a subject's depth of character and allow admittance based on the result. Whether SCP-#### is itself sentient remains unknown, and any attempted communication has failed. Pertinent Test Logs are documented herein, with analyses by Dr. Benjamin Avery.
Test H - ██/██/2019
Testing Personnel: Dr. C. Jones and Dr. A Whitley.
Subject: D-class 81945 'Martha'. Female. 5 counts Grand Theft Auto; 9 counts Drug Trafficking. Above-Average Morality Index score.
Procedure: D-class not made aware of SCP-####'s anomalous nature. D-class instructed to enter the 200m cognitohazardous zone and report anything out of the ordinary.
Results: D-81945 reports a raspy voice speaking of a diamond in the rough and orange light emanating from the 'eyes' and 'mouth' of the rock formation. Subject instructed to move forward half of the remaining distance to SCP-####. Subject instead continues all the way into SCP-#### despite threats of termination from Dr. A Whitley. Subject disappears into the cave but does not emit expected exclamation of surprise. After a period of 126 seconds, a 'roar' can be heard emanating from the cave, and SCP-#### closes as normal.
Analysis: So we finally attained a different result! Filtering D-class by morality seems to have provided a better outcome, but more testing is needed for us to learn anything about this curious anomaly. I will also be filing for D-class with CRV scores high enough to resist SCP-####, perhaps eventually we can get a clear idea of what the cave contains.
Test I - ██/██/2019
Testing Personnel: Dr. C. Jones and Dr. A. Whitley.
Subject: D-class 83119 'Callum'. Male. 9 counts Breaking & Entering; 6 counts GBH- n.b. all counts involved in vigilante rescue of abused animals. High Morality Index score.
Procedure: D-class instructed that SCP-#### has an anomalous nature, and equipped with one (1) remote surveillance camera worn on head and one (1) short-range radio for communication. D-class instructed to enter the 200m cognitohazardous zone and report what they feel, before being directed to enter and observe.
Results: D-83119 reports similar cognitohazardous effects but shows some resistance to the urge to enter. D-class is instructed to continue on and enter SCP-#### and, in the case of loss of contact, to observe and exit after an estimated one minute. Total loss of contact occurs as D-class descends into the cave. 'Callum' exits through the mouth of the cave exactly eighty-four seconds after loss of contact. Subject reports vast cavern filled with mounds of jewellery from various cultures and time periods. Subject also claims that a stronger voice was heard upon entering, advising him to 'Touch only the lamp'. No sighting of any form of lamp reported. SCP-#### closes as normal upon exit.
Analysis: It appears that this cave contains a veritable treasure hoard. My leading theory is that the anomalous effects of SCP-#### are a defensive mechanism for the grand stash. The mention of this lamp appears to be significant- future tests must focus on the search for it. Perhaps it will unlock the secrets of the cave?
Test J - ██/██/2019
Testing Personnel: Dr. C. Jones and Dr. F. Weston.
Subjects:
D-class 83119 'Callum'. Male. 9 counts Breaking & Entering; 6 counts GBH- n.b. all counts involved in vigilante rescue of abused animals. High Morality Index score.
D-class 79968 'Georgina'. Female. 9 counts Impersonating Police Officers; 7 counts unlawful citizens arrest; 5 counts Evading Arrest. High Morality Index score. High CRV score.
Procedure: Both subjects made aware of SCP-####'s anomalous effects. Both subjects provided with one (1) empty satchel each. Both subjects instructed to observe interior of cave. D-class 'Georgina' designated as runner to relay verbal instructions between Testing Personnel and D-class 'Callum'. 'Callum' to remain inside SCP-#### for the full duration of the test in an attempt to keep the interior available.
Results: Test initially functionally similar to Test I. One minute Fifty-six seconds after both subjects have entered SCP-####, 'Georgina' returns and describes a similar environment as was described in Test I. Subject instructed to return to SCP-#### and collect a piece of treasure to deposit in provided satchel. Thirty-nine seconds after subject re-enters SCP-####, a roaring sound emanates from the cave, and SCP-#### closes as normal.
Analysis: I now have strong evidence that removal of treasure from SCP-#### results in a closure event. Further Tests will attempt to ascertain the extent of the cave and begin searches for the previously mentioned 'lamp'. This is fascinating work.
Test M - ██/██/2020
Testing Personnel: Dr. B. Avery and Dr. F. Weston.
Subject: D-class 85194 'Allan'. Male. 12 counts Petty Theft; 4 counts Impersonating a Royal; 9 counts Fraud. High Morality Index score. Above-Average CRV score.
Procedure: D-class given in-depth knowledge of SCP-####'s anomalous effects and the results of pertinent previous Tests. D-class instructed to enter SCP-#### and continue search for the 'lamp' for a maximum of Ten minutes- one (1) mechanical wristwatch provided for timekeeping. D-class to be provided with one (1) notepad and accompanying pen to record movement and points of interest.
Results: D-class 85194 enters SCP-#### without incident and remains inside for Nine minutes and Thirty-Eight seconds. 'Allan' returns with a detailed recording of journey written down along with a hasty sketch of an antique Persian-style Brass Oil Lamp. Subject describes lamp as finely engraved and embossed, and reports that it is situated on top of a tall column of rock. Subject administered Class-A amnestics and detained in Site-####'s holding cell.
Analysis: We're so close now! I've been doing a lot of research into folklore and rumours, anything to do with a legendary lamp. What I've found so far points to potentially another anomalous object, and now I know just the D-class to fetch it for me. Such a discovery will almost certainly require moving to a high-security- and highly-funded- facility.
Test N - ██/██/2020
Testing Personnel: Dr. B. Avery and Dr. F. Weston.
Subject: D-class 85194 'Allan'. Male. 12 counts Petty Theft; 4 counts Impersonating a Royal; 9 counts Fraud. High Morality Index score. Above-Average CRV score.
Procedure: D-class brought back up to speed on SCP-####'s anomalous effects and pertinent previous Tests. D-class provided with previous Test's notepad and instructed to find and retrieve the Antique Oil Lamp from SCP-####. Subject provided with one (1) satchel for transport of cargo.
Results: D-class 'Allan' expresses mild confusion as to the origin and familiarity of the contents of the notepad but continues with the Test regardless. Seven minutes and Twenty-nine seconds after loss of contact with D-85194, subject egresses from the cave opening in a state of elevated stress. Subject mostly incoherent, but manages to report entity of giant proportions appearing immediately following an attempt to clean dust from the lamp. 'Allan' administered Class-A amnestics and detained once more.
Analysis: Anomalous nature of the Antique Oil Lamp is a near certainty. Evidently this anomalous entity was either not interested in harming D-85194 or was incapable of doing so, as the subject escaped with no injuries. However progress has been slow and- with a quick re-write of SCP-#### protocol- I will be joining D-85194 on the next Test as an observer. I simply must unlock the secrets of this lamp.
Addendum ####-2: Update ██/██/2020
Following EVENT-####-A and the loss of Dr. Benjamin Avery, Dr. Frederick Weston has been promoted to Security Clearance LVL4 and placed in charge of the containment of SCP-####. MTF Mu-13 is to be on standby for rapid deployment should a containment breach of Site-#### occur.

SCP-#### RESTRICTED TEST LOG; EVENT-####-A
Test O - ██/██/2020
Testing Personnel: Dr. B. Avery, Dr. A. Whitley and Dr. F. Weston.
Subject: D-class 85194 'Allan'. Male. 12 counts Petty Theft; 4 counts Impersonating a Royal; 9 counts Fraud. High Morality Index score. Above-Average CRV score.
Procedure: D-class brought back up to speed on SCP-####'s anomalous effects and pertinent previous Tests. D-class provided with previous Test's notepad. Dr. B. Avery to accompany D-85194 into SCP-####, and provided with one (1) Portable Magnetic Reel-To-Reel Tape Recorder for testing a voice log recording. Recovery of potentially anomalous object 'Antique Oil Lamp' considered top priority.
Results: D-85194 'Allan' and Dr. B. Avery enter SCP-#### without incident. Sixteen minutes and Fifty-one seconds later a closure event occurs. Contact with and recovery of D-85194 and Dr. B. Avery unsuccessful. Test recorded as critical failure.
Analysis: [N.b. following the absence of Dr. B. Avery, Dr. F. Weston has provided Test analysis]. That damned fool wouldn't listen to any of our warnings about SCP-####. We were suspicious of his intent and the possibility of his being compromised by the cognitohazardous effect but he would hear none of it and pulled rank, threatening to have us busted down to Janitors at Site-19. Well there was a closure event after he left. I'm not sure if we can recover anything but we're going to try and find out.
SCP-#### RECOVERED TRANSCRIPT; EVENT-####-A
SCP-####-Test-O Audio Recording Transcription
Voices of Dr. B. Avery and D-85194 'Allan'
Foreword: The magnetic tape recording machine which yielded this recording was recovered by a D-class subject following the failure of SCP-####-Test-O
<Begin Log, 18:30>
Dr. B. Avery: We are entering SCP-#### presently. I can feel a tug in my mind pushing me on, merely anticipation after so many long months of observation and research surely! Myself and D-85194 are heading down a steep slope of rough rocky terrain.
D-85194: You know you can just call me Allan down here, there's no Director to answer to.
B.A: Silence subject, this is an official log of events. I wouldn't expect you to understand, just follow that written log to the lamp.
D-85194 grumbles incoherently
B.A: Here we are, the first chamber as detailed in the written log from Test M. There are mountains of jewellery, ingots of various precious metals, valuable gemstones and strange artifacts all over the place. According to the written log there should be a secondary chamber right arou- There! Come, D-85194.
D-85194: Nothing good ever came from chasing mysterious magic treasure, mister.
B.A: Need I remind you that failure to comply with Foundation Personnel instructions will result in termination? Or would you like little Annie to grow up without a father? …I thought not. There's the pillar- up you go. And only grasp the Lamp by the handle until you return it to the ground.
D-85194: [Distant] Yeah mister the rock up here near the top is not so stable, gonna be a tricky climb down for sure… there we go! Okay the Lamp is in the satchel, coming down now. Hey maybe this won't turn out so bad aft-
A scream is heard
B.A: ALLAN NO THE LAMP!
There is a grunt followed by a wet crunching sound
B.A: Oh I caught it thank god- wait the lamp is getting warm and shaking. Okay I deposited it on the ground. D-85194 is non-responsive, presumed dead. The lamp has begun emitting a faint blue mist, which is getting stronger by the second. There seems to be something forming in the- no, no that's impossible. Oh my god it's getting bigger. I need to get out of here!
Sounds of hurried movement follow as a booming, unintelligible voice rings out. Dr. B. Avery grunts and emits an exclamation of surprise before a crash with the distinct sounds of cascading coins.
B.A: Oh nonono, I fell on the treasure… I WASN'T TAKING IT YOU HEAR? I'M OF PURE HEART AND SOUL! HAVE IT BACK! I'm out of here, I just need to get to- is that LAVA!?
A huge rocky crash can be heard before the recording abruptly stops.
