The Jealous Pen - Mattlob

SCP-XXXX - The Jealous Pen
Class: Safe

The Jealous Pen
SCP-XXXX is a regular fountain pen that is contained within a simple, black, shiny and metallic casing with an average sized tip. Analysis of the metal show that it is made of a mixture of iron and aluminium. For an unknown reason, it looks as if it has be created in sections where each section is either aluminium or iron. SCP-XXXX weighs an average of 40 grams and it appears to change weight at different times of day. Attempts to melt down the metal has proven fruitless and SCP-XXXX suffers no damage after repeated exposure to temperatures of 100 degrees celsius and above.

It can be taken apart the same as a normal pen but all tests have shown that the pen requires no ink cartridge. Any attempts to add ink cartridges of different brands and sizes has resulted in the cartridge being teleported back out of the pen into the closest free space within 15 feet when it is set down. Tests show that if there is no free space within 15 feet then the pen creates a new space that fits the exact dimensions of the ink cartridge inserted.

The current owner of SCP-XXXX will be known as SCP-XXXX-1 and their name will be noted down and available to all security guards. As of writing this document, the owner of the SCP is [Data Redacted].

SCP-XXXX will write in red ink, despite the lack of cartridge, which is drawn from an unknown location. Studies of the ink shows that it contains the same chemical compound that is sold by the brand Parker but with an extra unknown chemical. The mystery chemical is unknown as isolating it has proven difficult but preliminary tests suggest that it is harmless to humans.

The owner of SCP-XXXX will try to keep the SCP on their person at all time but tests show that they can be separated without any adverse effects. However, once SCP-XXXX-1 is offered a different pen to be used, when writing on certain surfaces, the subject will become anxious and will attempt to refuse the pen. This affect appears to be a symptom of becoming the owner of SCP-XXXX. Tests have shown that the owner will still become anxious even when the result is unknown to the subject. The use of a pencil or other writing implements that do not contain the word "pen" within their name have proven safe to use by SCP-XXXX-1. Pens have also proven safe to use but can only write on any surface where SCP-XXXX will not work, such as: whiteboards, concrete, plastic and metal.

When SCP-XXXX-1 does write with a different implement, as stated above, SCP-XXXX appears to levitate of its own accord and will then fly towards SCP-XXXX-1. Once it reaches its target, SCP-XXXX will then embed itself within the heart of the subject and kill them instantly. During this process, SCP-XXXX sustains no damage and will not be dirtied in any way. The SCP will then pull back out of the hole and will wait until another owner is appointed. While it is in this state, SCP-XXXX will emit a faint telepathic signal that will draw nearby humans to come and look for the SCP. When found, the new SCP-XXXX-1 will notice SCP-XXXX and will be unaware of anything else in the area. They will then approach the SCP and remove it from the corpse and remark "Ooh, what a nice pen" before pocketing the SCP and returning to what they were doing.

When questioned about the acquisition of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 will remark that they found it lying around and that they liked the look of it and took it. They will have no knowledge of the surrounding area and will claim that they noticed nothing out of the ordinary. When SCP-XXXX-1 reenters the area where they found SCP-XXXX, they will react in a normal manor to when someone would witness something horrible.

Tests show that SCP-XXXX moves at a speed of 10 miles per hour when moving through the air but reduces its speed to 6 miles per hour when passing through any solid surface. Repeated tests with materials such as: paper, wood, lead, Kevlar and diamond produce the same result. The width of the material also does not change the speed of SCP-XXXX but does effect the duration that it is slowed down. When passing through human tissue and bone, the speed is also reduced to 6 miles per hour but it is reduced to 2 miles per hour when going through the flesh and/or bone while attempting to pierce the heart.
