Item #: SCP XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP XXXX is to be kept in a secure storage locker with a minimum of two heavy duty padlock, as well as an eight-digit code lock. Each key for the padlock is to be kept on one of the two head researchers for SCP XXXX, with the other having another corresponding key. The code lock combination however is only to be known by the site director with the combination being rotated bi-monthly.

Any personnel, regardless of rank, caught with writing utensil(s) or pieces of paper unauthorized by site director-█████ are eligible for heavy reprimanding, removal from the project along with amnestics, and even termination from case to case. Note: SCP XXXX is NEVER to be opened (apart from select testing) as digitization of the object negate it's anomalous effect. It is to be noted that SCP XXXX is capable of triggering a GK-class "dead greenhouse" scenario or an XK-class "end of the world" scenario if wide spread exposure occurs. This outcome will depend on a multitude of factors including how much of the exposed population is converted to SCP XXXX-1 or XXXX-2.

Description: SCP XXXX is a dangerous cognitohazard that affects humans when fully read SCP XXXX. More specifically, the object is an article written by an unknown author that poses the question "can humanity coexist with nature?". The memetic effect takes place when a subject fully reads the article that isn't digitized. the subject will then hyperventilate and mumble incoherently. It is at this moment that the subject will become an instance of XXXX-1 or XXXX-2 depending on personal beliefs and life choices of the subject.

An SCP XXXX-1 instance will occur if the subject has an incredibly materialistic life, is extremely wasteful, or did something to harm nature (such as over hunt or fish an area or kill a member of an endangered species). Once the subject has become an instance, they will seek to destroy all things deemed "nature" by society and kill any and all animals including pets. When the subject can no longer have access to animals or nature or they are contained and stopped, they will enter a state of catatonia and psychosis, assuming the fetal position and lightly sobbing to themselves.

An SCP XXXX-2 instance occurs if the subject has had a large exposure to animals or the outdoors in their life, had a traumatic experience involving the death of a pet due to humanity in some capacity, or just has a great disdain for humanity. After the initial hyperventilation, they will proceed to kill any and all humans whom the subject has access to, including other XXXX-2 instances. Once they are stopped or lose access to any humans, they will proceed to attempt suicide via a variety of means.

Instances have been known to:

  • Bang their head against hard surfaces
  • Drown themselves
  • Willingly feed themselves to carnivorous or omnivorous animals
  • Starved themselves of oxygen via holding their breath
  • [DATA EXPUNGED]

Test log XXXX-1 6 Feb 20██

Subject: D-5463 is a female in her late twenties who owned a company that heavily affected forests in the ████ area of south Korea. Given this, she should become an XXXX-1 instance.

Procedure: The black bag containing SCP XXXX was placed in the test chamber, after which, the subject was asked to read the document. She complied willingly and after fully reading the document, she is seen rapidly breathing whilst holding the table. While she is hyperventilating, two armed personnel place a plastic plant inside the test chamber and exit.

Results: D-5463, now an XXXX-1 instance, moves to the plastic plant and starts to break it apart. After a minute of breaking the plant, the subject realizes the plant is in fact plastic. The subject enters a semi-manic state of distress and tries to put the plant together, failing to do so. The subject then enters the catatonic state, crying and mumbling much more audibly than other XXXX-1 subjects. The words "I'm sorry" can be heard being muttered from the subject. The subject is now unresponsive. she will be sent to the medical wing for further tests.

Notes: While this does provide some insight in understanding what happens in the subjects catatonic state, I believe that this could very likely be coincidental due to the plant being man-made.

Test log XXXX-2:

Subject: D-6623 and D-6627 were both arrested for the bombing of a commercial fishing port in the State of ██████, Australia. With this in mind, they both should be XXXX-2 instances.

Procedure: Two printed copies of SCP XXXX are placed in two black bags. They are handed to the subjects and the door is sealed. The subjects read the document in full, then start to scream. Both Head Researchers are present behind a one way mirror.

Results: The two subjects proceed to maul each other, until D-6627 dies from blood loss. D-6623 then proceeds to [DATA EXPUNGED] with the body. After which, Head Researcher ██████ leaves for the bathroom to vomit. As they leave, D-6623 then stares at Head Researcher ███ through the one way mirror without prior knowledge of a one way mirror being present. D-6623 then takes a pile of blood and [redacted], mixing them together. The subject then writes the phrase "digofaint natur" on the adjacent wall. Once finished, the subject then breaks the mirror. A level 1 security breach is called as the subject slits his throat, all while maintaining direct eye contact with Head Researcher ███.

Notes: Researcher █████ has requested amnestics and site transferal, which has been granted. ███ on the other hand has refused the offer. All personnel have been given mandatory psychological evaluations and one weeks leave. A new head researcher will be chosen by the end of the next month
