Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX currently is being contained in locked standard storage room B-212 in the storage wing of Site-███.
Testing of SCP-XXXX must take place in an area approved by a Level 3 Researcher. Subjects being tested on SCP-XXXX should have their vitals monitored at all times. Security personnel and sedatives are to be ready at all times during testing, as well as a form of physical constraint, should the subject become an active instance of SCP-XXXX-A.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 91cm x 190cm white innerspring mattress. SCP-XXXX is in pristine condition and does not appear to show any signs of use or deterioration. Stains or markings on SCP-XXXX have been reported to disappear after approximately four minutes and revert to the institutional white state it was in before.
SCP-XXXX was discovered 8/25/18 in the city of ██████, Illinois. SCP-XXXX was located in a roadside motel, where several murders occurred. The murders were all tied to customers who stayed in Room B████. Multiple police investigations were tied to the room and the bed, which attracted the attention of the Foundation. Foundation agents successfully confiscated the mattress after a thorough investigation of the room and the murders that occurred in the hotel. Investigations done correlated the mattress with no unusual origin, having been manufactured by ███████ in the ███████ factory at ███████, Illinois, then ordered online by the motel via Amazon.
SCP-XXXX is capable of influencing the dreams of human subjects who sleep on it. Reports of the influenced dreams are consistent, with the subject usually 'awaking' on SCP-XXXX and observing the same surroundings as before they went to sleep. This 'dream' or 'world' will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. Most subjects report wandering around SCP-XXXX-1 to find the area completely devoid of life. Subjects who have left the structure within SCP-XXXX-1 that SCP-XXXX is housed inside of have reported a lack of sky, usually in place, a black intangible void. Whenever outside, all subjects have reported a black fog or mist that permeates the outside area. Most subjects are deterred from this fog, as it usually invokes the fear of the unknown. Because of this, subjects usually stay within the area in which SCP-XXXX is easily accessible. Subjects have reported being able to 'leave' SCP-XXXX-1 by locating and sleeping in SCP-XXXX within SCP-XXXX-1. This will result in the subject actually regaining consciousness and waking up, leaving SCP-XXXX-1.
A few subjects who have entered SCP-XXXX-1 have interacted with the 'fog void' observed in all instances of SCP-XXXX-1. Results have varied. See Interview-097.
Subjects' perception of time has been seriously impaired while inside of SCP-XXXX-1. Most subjects sleep on SCP-XXXX for approximately four hours, the highest recorded being only six hours. Subjects, however, report having been inside of SCP-XXXX-1 for only an hour. These reports are consistent, with almost all subjects having reported being inside of SCP-XXXX-1 for an hour, with few exceptions (See Interview-105).
Occasionally, subjects testing SCP-XXXX wake up in a state of extreme agitation. These subjects are to be referred to as SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-A are to be sedated and restrained immediately, as subjects in this state have exhibited extreme homicidal tendencies, resulting in an incident where █ personnel were brutally injured, one suffering a fatal injury. The given SCP-XXXX-A instance was terminated by security personnel. Incidents involving SCP-XXXX-A have resulted in the subject being sedated, and falling into coma.
Testing on SCP-XXXX is still inconclusive but is open to all personnel. All experiments involving SCP-XXXX must be approved by a Level 3 Researcher.
Interview-097 was conducted after an experiment involving SCP-XXXX was requested by Dr. ██████ and approved by Dr. ████████ to take place inside of a remote shack approximately █ kilometers away from ██████, Illinois. Subject slept on SCP-XXXX for approximately four hours and twenty-two minutes.
Interview-097 9/4/18
Subject: D-82066
Subject was instructed to sleep on the bed and attempt to breach the fog within SCP-XXXX-1. Subject had sufficient knowledge on SCP-XXXX and the subject's participation was voluntary.
<Begin log>
Subject: Is it on?
Dr. ██████: Yes. What did you do inside of SCP-XXXX-1?
Subject: Well. [Subject pauses for a moment] I left the shack and walked around for a bit. It was a little scary because instead of field, I just saw this black endless void.
Dr. ██████: Black endless void? Please explain.
Subject: It was like this sort of a black fog that covered most of the area in front of me… the tree line.. I couldn't see past it.
Dr. ██████: What did you do after witnessing this black fog?
Subject: I approached the fog and my gut was telling me to run away… I.. [Subject begins to mutter incoherently, losing their composition]
Dr. ██████: Please stay with me. What did you see on the other side?
Subject: [After several moments of silence] There wasn't an other side.. I walked through and I started to hear awful things.. monsters shrieking in the distance. At first, the sounds were really faint. But I was there for too long… I couldn't see a single thing, either…
Dr. ██████: What happened while you were in the fog?
Subject: [Subject's voice begins to raise with apparent emotional distress] I.. I got lost! The sounds, the monsters, they were getting closer to me! I had to run! I kept running, trying to get away from the sounds. The fog seemed to be slowing me down, though! I thought I was dead, but I soon got out and saw the shack. The fog seemed to be closing in on the shack, so I hurriedly ran to the shack and slept on the bed, like you told me to do whenever I wanted to leave. I still want to leave. Can I please go?
Dr. ██████: Thank you for your cooperation.
<End log>
Note: More research will have to be done around the 'fog void.' As described by Subject D-82066, the fog wall is able to be breached however seemed to go on forever. Increasing distance within the black fog results in sounds of 'monsters' being heard. After going back and exiting the fog, the fog appeared to be closing in on the only clearing. More testing will need to be done to verify this information.
Interview-104 was conducted after an experiment involving SCP-XXXX and Dr. Lee. The experiment was approved to take place inside a small structure which was located approximately twenty-two (22) meters from a local Walmart in the city of █████, Illinois. Upon waking up from SCP-XXXX, Dr. Lee was immediately identified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-A. Sedatives were immediately administered, and Interview-104 was conducted with Dr. Lee while he was in this state.
Interview-104 9/10/18
Subject: Dr. Lee
<Begin log>
Dr. ██████: Please explain what you saw in your dream.
Dr. Lee: [EXPLETIVE]
Dr. ██████: Stay with me, Doctor. What did you see in your dream?
Dr. Lee: [EXPLETIVE] YOU AND [EXPLETIVE] THIS
Subject proceeded in a self-termination attempt by violently banging the back of their head on the wall. Security personnel immediately responded by administering more sedatives. Subject lost consciousness.
Dr. ██████: Unfortunate. We will have to try this later when the subject regains consciousness and is restrained.
<End log>
Note: Although subject was sedated to reduce their ability to cause harm, it instead attempted to cause harm to its self. All future sedatives used are to be stronger.

Interview was conducted after subject Dr. Lee was identified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-A, interviewed, and heavily sedated. The experiment was concluded with all personnel and SCP-XXXX relocating to a secure chamber in Site-███ after the subject was showing signs of awaking from the coma.
Interview-105 9/11/18
Subject: Dr. Lee
<Begin log>
Dr. ██████: Hello, Doctor. How are you feeling?
Dr. Lee: Yes, hello. I am feeling very drowsy.
Dr. ██████: Interesting. You were sedated because you were deemed a danger to yourself and personnel. After awaking from SCP-XXXX, you were identified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-A.
Dr. Lee: I see.
Dr. ██████: I would like to ask you a few questions concerning your experience inside of SCP-XXXX-1.
Dr. Lee: Very well. Go on.
Dr. ██████: How long were you inside of SCP-XXXX-1?
Dr. Lee: I can recall being inside of SCP-XXXX-1 for a few hours, possibly two or three.
Dr. ██████: What did you do inside of SCP-XXXX-1?
Dr. Lee: I traveled outside of the structure SCP-XXXX was housed in. I went inside of the Walmart. As expected, the entire building was unattended. The first thing I noticed was a lack of lighting. There were various carts with items in them in some spaces inside the Walmart. All electronic devices within the structure did not respond to input, as if they were frozen.
Dr. ██████: Noted. What did you do after exploring the WalMart?
Dr. Lee: I traveled outside and proceeded to breach the surrounding fog after about an hour of exploring the Walmart.
Dr. ██████: What happened when you breached the fog wall?
Dr. Lee: I at first could hear faint noises of various creatures. I will admit that I was starting to get very anxious. I continued walking in the black fog.
Dr. ██████: You were aware that you were only in a dream, yes?
Dr. Lee: Correct. I knew I was not in any danger due to the nature of dreams. I continued walking and never found a clearing in the fog. However, I soon encountered a parked car. At this point, the shrieks of seemingly large creatures in the distance were very audible. The door was wide open. I entered the car and attempted to operate the vehicle with the use of keys left in the center aisle. The car was inoperable, so I got out and continued to walk forward.
Dr. ██████: Did you encounter anything else while in the fog?
Dr. Lee: I cannot remember that clearly after the car. However, I do remember feeling a sudden sense of intense dread. I remember… seeing tentacle of some sort in the fog. It looked like rusted metal, but moved in an organic way. I think it grabbed my leg… [Subject trails off and remains silent for about 30 seconds.]
Dr. ██████: What happened after you were grabbed?
[Subject did not respond. After a few seconds, it became apparent that the subject lost consciousness. Medical evaluations revealed that subject is in a coma.]
<End log>
Note: Room ████ in the medical wing of Site-███ has been reserved for Dr. Lee. Dr. Lee is to be constantly monitored, and upon waking from the coma he is suffering, he is to be interviewed immediately. Dr. Lee is as of now the only subject to awake from a coma and be interviewed before unfortunately falling into coma again.
Interview-105 was conducted after subject Dr. Langston, a close friend to Dr. Lee, agreed to participate in an experiment involving SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX was brought back to the same location that was used in the experiment involving Dr. Lee. She slept in SCP-XXXX, and after waking up about two hours later, was ready to participate in an interview.
Interview-105 9/13/18
Subject: Dr. Langston
<Begin log>
Dr. ██████: Hello, Doctor. How are you feeling?
Dr. Langston: I feel tired.
Dr. ██████: I am prepared to ask you a few questions concerning your experience inside of SCP-XXXX-1.
Dr. Langston: Oh right, that. Okay.
Dr. ██████: Were you aware that you were dreaming?
Dr. Langston: No.
Dr. ██████: Where were you in your dream?
Dr. Langston: This small house. I also went over by the Walmart.
Dr. ██████: Did you encounter any sort of fog wall?
Dr. Langston: Yes. My dream, as I can recall, is typical of SCP-XXXX-1. There was, however, one thing different. I breached the fog, and only wandered for a small amount of time. In that time, I heard the agonizing screams of Dr. Lee. I recognized his voice, but I've never heard anyone in such pain. After a while of being in the fog, the screams stopped. It was silent.
Dr. ██████: Interesting. What did you do while you were in the fog?
Dr. Langston: I became aware that I was in a dream, or something. The thing that got to me was how remarkably real this place was. I get regular dreaming, but this felt like I was actually there, and the screams I heard in the distance gave me reason to retreat back into the clearing.
Dr. ██████: I assume you returned to SCP-XXXX?
Dr. Langston: Yes, but not after noticing that the clearing was becoming smaller, as if the fog were closing in. I'm pretty sure it was. The Walmart was gone.
Dr. ██████: Did you ever encounter Dr. Lee?
Dr. Langston: No. Like I said before, I only heard screams when I was inside of the fog. And, I swear to god that it was him.
Dr. ██████: Thank you for this information. We will now be returning to the facility.
<End log>
Note: The situation regarding Dr. Lee and Dr. Langston is currently being studied. Interestingly, ever since Dr. Langston participated in that experiment, the blood pressure of Dr. Lee has risen considerably, with other life signs exhibiting abnormal changes as well.
