Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard 10m x 10m x 8m object containment cell lined with a 5 mm layer of lead and a 3 mm layer of brass. No Containment staff are permitted entry (Without equipment) unless permission is given by a Site Director. A camera must be installed on either corner opposite to the door for testing. Staff personnel require a radiation suit before entry. SCP-XXXX’s effects are only eliminated upon use of Class D amnestics. Testing requires supervision of minimum 2 facility guards with the required equipment listed above.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a glass coffee table supported by a metal base made of an aluminum alloy shaped like a human figure. The chemical structure of the glass portion of SCP-XXXX has not yet been identified. The metal figure that holds up the glass portion can be disfigured and manipulated, but it returns to its original formation in a time that can vary between 20 minutes and 72 hours (the ambient temperature has no effect on the recovery's pace). The piece of glass is indestructible and inseparable from the base.

Anomalous behavior manifests when a primate enters a 5 meter radius of SCP-XXXX. An undetectable transmission is emitted to subjects who enter this radius. When a primate is affected by this signal, they rationalize a reason to either shatter SCP-XXXX’s glass portion or to protect it from being shattered. Rationalization of a given subject’s desired actions towards SCP-XXXX are affected by the subject’s mental health, but whether or not a subject wants to Shatter or Protect SCP-XXXX’s glass portion is not determined by their mental state. research shows that there is a chance for 32% of individuals wanting to destroy the glass, which leaves those who want to protect it as the majority.

Recovery: SCP-XXXX was brought to the attention of the foundation after reports of a “Fighting ring over a table” were filed in Mexico City, during late January of 1998. Participants of the ring were apprehended and amnestics were distributed as required, and a cover story was issued.

The leader, André Sauvera was apprehended by the foundation and was mentally examined. It was determined that André showed multiple psychopathic tendencies after several interviews. His reasoning for forming the fighting ring is unclear. It was determined that he wanted to shatter SCP-XXXX’s glass, but after discovering that shattering it was impossible he took advantage of this discovery. André said that “I know what I need to do, and I know it won't fucking happen.”. André was terminated in Site breach [REDACTED].
