Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 7m x 7m standard holding cell (currently located in Site 64). The walls are to be lined with noise-resistant material. In the case of the noise-resistant material being damaged, approval of at least one (1) Level 4 personnel is required, and the personnel entering the cell to replace the material must wear Foundation-approved noise-dampening headphones due to the nature of SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a smaller victorian-style birdcage made of copper that houses two small, yellow parakeets that look identical to each other (Referred to as SCP-XXXX-A and
SCP-XXXX-B, respectively). The birds are shown to have an uncanny level of coordination, each seeming to follow the same movement pattern each day observed. The true anomalous property of SCP-XXXX is that it seems to have the ability to bestow a deep depressive state on D-Class personnel who hear the yellow parakeets sing. D-Class personnel have reported to fall deeper into depression the longer they hear the song produced by SCP-XXXX. It is first reported by subjects to feel a melancholic emotion, which turns to sadness, and then finally to a depression in which the subjects believe that every person they know is dead. The 2 incidents in which a D-Class personnel have been exposed to SCP-XXXX have required a month of consoling in which they have reported a deep feeling of disassociation from the real world and a lingering depressive state. Dr ██████: Is that correct?

D-236: Yes.

Dr ██████: And you remember the experience? (Subject nods) Good.

Dr ██████: So would you still report feeling of discomfort thinking about the experience?

D-236: No.

Dr ██████: No? Really.

D-236: It doesn't seem like it even happened most of the time. Only when I start to feel it.

Dr ██████: Feel what?

D-236: Just sometimes. I feel it again like I said last time.

(D-236 begins to fidget with apparent discomfort.)

Dr ██████: You mean how it seemed like everything was just objects?

D-236: Yeah. Just, like, how people didn't seem like people anymore.

Dr ██████: What do they seem like?

D-236: Just… Like you said, objects.

Dr ██████: Okay.

(Dr ██████ writes on clipboard)

Dr ██████: And do you feel any additional discomfort, say, doing normal tasks?

D-236: Yes. I feel uncomfortable in my own skin, I guess? I can't really think of a way to describe it. Just, like I have to be something that I can't. It's like… My body is restricting me from… living.

D-236: Yes.

Recovery of SCP-XXXX: SCP-XXXX was discovered in a tall Victorian-style home in lower Michigan alongside SCP-XXXX. A long-time neighbor reported that the home had been abandoned for at least 30 years at the time of SCP-XXXX's discovery. SCP-XXXX was initially discovered with a bleached flower-print cloth drawn over it. It should be noted that SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B were observed "sleeping" or in a dormant state at the initial discovery of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B "woke" at approximately 5 minutes after the cloth was removed from the cage and both SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B have been active since.
(NOTE: Attempts to put the cloth back onto SCP-XXXX have been unsuccessful at putting SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B back into stasis.)
