Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is inherently uncontainable due to its sporadic ability to manifest, although rates of exposure can be significantly minimized by architecture and city planning that yields low volumes of space which can have an elevated affinity for manifestation of SCP-XXXX instances. Methods of doing such include adequate spacing of trees in or around urban structures so as to not allow sunlight to cast multiple overlapping shadows of individual flora (particularly trees) onto man made structures, as well as positioning of public transit and recreational activities within urban centers to reduce the amount of time that the public may be exposed to affected areas.
Efforts to identify active SCP-XXXX instances are undertaken via monitoring of social media for atypical behavior usually in the form of environmental activism in individuals who have expressed little to no interest in such things prior. SCP-XXXX instances will typically affect a number of people within the first week of extant presence, though the exact number can vary depending on the population density of affected areas. Upon an up-trend in potentially SCP-XXXX indicative activity being identified amongst a number of individuals, the movements in months prior of the individuals are closely examined for locations of commonality between them, any commonalities with a possibility to be hospitable for SCP-XXXX are to be surveyed over a twenty four (24) hour period by a purpose-built artificial intelligence by installation of a camera with a three hundred and sixty (360) degree field of view at an elevated vantage point; when the active aspects of transmission (see below) are positively identified by the AI surveillance, field agents are to cordon off the affected aspects from view by the public within safe viewing hours for a period of seventy two (72) hours and lapse in activity confirmed via digital surveillance. In the rare instance of persistent SCP-XXXX transmission, then all physical aspects are to be razed and replaced by SCP-XXXX resistant design.
The active aspects of SCP-XXXX transmission following manifestation are as follows, and varies between individual instances although exposure time to induce influence is static;
1.) Active transmission time:This value corresponds to the daily window(s) of time in which affected architecture will yield the cognitohazardous pattern by overlapping shadows of individuals comprising the source locality; i.e. 1500-1900 hours.
2.) Source locality: This will typically be a number of vertically growing flora, primarily trees, whose shadows will form the cognitohazardous image responsible for SCP-XXXX transmission when made to overlap with one another within the active transmission hours. Exposure significant enough to present with symptoms is typically achieved by repeat direct viewing of this image on imprinted projection surfaces.
3.) Projection surfaces: This will be the surface upon which the image is cast within the active transmission time so as to not distort the image
Known sites of SCP-XXXX manifestation are to be cordoned off from view by the public for no fewer than three (3) days with lighting made to cast no shadows of affected flora onto architecture for the entirety of quarantine.
