Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept at its discovery site with its top surrounded by a steel container of dimensions 5.0m x 5.0m x 0.2m. This container is to be reinforced, per the pressure placed on it by SCP-XXXX-1's effect on gas molecules. The home connected to the backyard in which SCP-XXXX-1 is stored is to remain under Foundation ownership at all times. Experimentation on SCP-XXXX-1 has been discontinued per these containment procedures.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a circular, net-less trampoline with a diameter of approximately 4.3 meters that is upheld by 6 U-shaped steel support beams, which have sunk into the ground. The trampoline appears to have been manufactured by Airzone, as indicated by a tag sewn onto the blue mat covering its frame. SCP-XXXX is of the "Variflex" model. The included net was left unassembled.

Any matter that comes into contact with the mesh of the trampoline (SCP-XXXX-1) will be launched straight upward at a seemingly random speed between approximately 150 and 300 kilometers per hour. If nothing blocks the path of this upward motion, it will not cease until Earth's exosphere has been breached. If an object blocks the upward motion, the launched matter will continue to move against the object indefinitely, unless said object breaks, is pushed out of the way (in which case it will fall back to Earth), or is pushed out of the exosphere with the launched object.

Objects that are only partially placed onto SCP-XXXX-1 will immediately be severed at the point where SCP-XXXX-1 ends, regardless of the object's volume, mass, weight, density, or percent contact. It is apparent that the launched object's velocity is unrelated to the severing force, as objects that could theoretically resist the force have failed to do so.

All items not considered to be a single unit will be treated separately by SCP-XXXX-1. The human body is treated as one intact unit, however clothing is treated as a distinct entity and is often disconnected from humans wearing it upon contact with SCP-XXXX-1 due to its variable launching speeds. Foreign entities contained within human bodies, such as pacemakers, are treated by SCP-XXXX-1 as distinct. The distinction of units appears to be linked with human psychology, though it is unclear why.

Attempts to destroy SCP-XXXX-1 from above have proven unsuccessful, as all objects that come into contact with it, including the components of fire, are launched upward immediately. Attempts to destroy SCP-XXXX-1 from its underside have also been unsuccessful, as the ground around it appears to be impenetrable.

Addendum: The effect that SCP-XXXX has on matter that comes into contact with it was not originally present, as it was used by the ██████ family for approximately 2 years. The backyard in which it is stored, as well as the corresponding house, were captured by the Foundation after an incident in which Officer █████ responded to a call from the family about a missing child. Based on interviews with the ██████ family, the trampoline must have sunk into the ground on either May 7 or May 8, 2009. It is believed that at this point the trampoline became anomalous and the ground around it became impenetrable. The reason for the appearance of the anomaly is currently unknown.
