SCP - # "The Piano"

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a 27'10x17'4 studio room. and to be practiced on 6 to 8 hours a day. Subjects must either play and/or practice Classical and/or Jazz Repertoire within these hours to avoid nearby personnel from hearing a ringing in their ears (See Addendum SCP-XXXX-1.4). Entities appearing during sessions must be interacted as though it was a normal Teacher-Student relation.

Description:
SCP-XXXX refers to 2 Objects designated as SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2

SCP-XXXX-1 is a Grand Piano in the shape of a Harpsichord, the brand of the keyboard has been scratched off. It was recovered in Stalingrad, Russia after the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943. SCP-XXXX was brought to the foundation's attention after researchers who were present in the Battle noticed a Grand Piano that was undamaged despite the house around it being decimated. Object was moved to Site 11 on the 4t of February, 1943.

Internally, SCP-XXXX-1 appears to have normal grand piano strings made of Iron. It's structure is similar to a Steinway Harpsichord Piano Model which probably indicates it's been manufactured around the late 1890's to late 1920's. The Frame indicates no Model or serial designation. Externally, It's Brown with standard ivory Black and White keys that are light to the touch.

When a subject plays or practices on the piano, an entity will appear in the room where the piano is placed; entities seem to be embodiments of dead composers depending on the repertoire played and will act as an instructor or guide to the subject, entities appear to be flesh and blood and can interact with the environment around them, said entities are designated SCP-XXXX-2 (See Addendum SCP-XXXX-2-2)

SCP-XXXX-2 are entities that appear when subjects play on the piano at certain times, they mostly manifest as composers. Entities know everything that, speak, and act as the composers they manifest as. They are safe and remain until a piece changes or until a session is over. (See Addendum SCP-XXXX-2. 3).

Addendum XXXX-1.1 : Experiment Log #1
A Class D subject with no experience in Music, nor liking any form of music was placed in the practice room to practice 6 Hours (3 hours in the day and another in the evening). A Suzuki Piano Method Book, a copy of "First Lessons in Bach," and "Hanon - 60 Exercises" was given to him. Upon opening the method book in front of the piano, the subject worked through the first few pages, an SCP-XXXX-2 entity in the form of Leonard Bernstein assisted the subject. The entity appeared again in the afternoon when learning Bach and Hanon. Subject is now required to attend weekly lessons with the Entity.
Note: subject reports high morale after lessons and requests sheet music and music CDs. Approved

Addendum XXXX-1.2 : Experiment Log #2
A Researcher with a background in Classical Music was placed in the Practice Room to practice for 6 hours (3 hours in the morning and another in the afternoon). A copy of Chopin's Complete Waltzes, Bach's 2-Part Inventions, and Clementi' sSonatinas op. 36 were given. Upon practicing a Chopin Waltz, a manifestation of SCP-XXXX-2 in the form of Frederick Chopin appeared and gave her lessons. When Practicing all Bach 2-Part inventions a manifestation of Johann Sebastian Bach Appeared, the Chopin Manifestation disappeared without a trace; The Piano's sound changed into a harpsichord, Lessons with the Bach Manifestation continued. When opening the Clementi Book, a manifestation of Muzio Clementi appeared and the Bach Manifestation Dissipated into an odorless smoke.
Note: Researcher expresses alot Happiness and sense of determination.

Interview Log #1
Interviewer: Dr. Bass
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-2: Rachmaninoff Manifestation

[Begin Log]
Interviewee: (Russian) Shall we begin?
Interviewer: (Russian) yes, (English) but it's best to speak english for the record.
Interviewee: (English) What do you want to know?
Interviewer: Alright, my name is Dr. Bass, and I am head Researcher of your piano, and I have a degree from a Music Conservatory, too.
Interviewee: I am aware of my containment, You're playing is good but needs improvement.
Interviewer: Indeed. Now I like to ask, who you really are? Rachmainoff died many years ago.
Interviewee: We are a manifestation of Dead composers, Music Pedagogues and pianists.
Interviewer: We?
Interviewee: Yes. We.
Interviewer: Do explain?
Interviewee: We are many, we are the composers' thoughts, words, life, and works.
Interviewer: When do you manifest into our world?
Interviewee: When we hear music we appear. A composer, teacher or Pianist who may help the student to perform at this moment. Regardless if they play well, we also like to hear our music being played. We like to help them succeed and play at their best.
Interviewer: Who are the other composers in this piano?
Interviewee: There are some I know and some I don't, There are too many composers from the Baroque to my Era. maybe even earlier. Nice people, quite short, too.
Interviewer: What is it like to live in the Piano?
Interviewee: As everyday? I eat at Cafes, have English Breakfast, Breathe Fresh air in the park.
Interviewer: Alright, do you know any other composer in our time period?
Interviewee: I don't know.
Interviewer: *Plays an contemporary Piece* that was (Expunged) Music
Interviewee: I have never heard that music nor have I heard of her. Her music is simplistic like that Satie fellow.
Interviewer: Well that is all for this interview, would you like anything to say or request?"
Interviewee: "Some coffee as we continue your lesson, please bring your Scarlatti Sonatas later, Either Scarlatti will help you with his work or someone else.
Interviewer: You won't help me?
Interviewee: Czerny, Yes. Scarlatti, No.
[End Log]

Note: It's hypothesized that the world in the piano is a mirror image of ours.

Addendum XXXX-2.3.2: Experiment Log #3 and Interview Log #2
Head Researcher of the Anomalous Musical Instruments, Dr. Bass with a BM in Music Education brought her own copy of Rachmaninoff's Preludes, Czerny's the School of Finger Dexterity, and Scarlatti's Sonatas, She decided to partake in an experiment to interview one of the SCP-XXXX-2 entities. The session lasted 7 Hours (3 hours in the morning and 4 in the afternoon). Upon playing 4 Scarlatti Sonatas a manifestation of Domenico Scarlatti appeared, after some lessons with him, Dr. Bass asked for an Interview to which the manifestation obliged:

Interview Log #1
Interviewer: Dr. Bass
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-2: Scarlatti Manifestation

[Begin Log]
Interviewer.: Hello
Interviewee: Greetings
Interviewer: My name is Dr. Bass, i'm-
Interviewee: I know who you are.
Interviewer.: Alright, I'd like to ask, why does this keyboard change from a piano sound to a Harpsichord sound depending on the piece?
Interviewee: it depends on who the composer is, if it's from my time, expect the sound to be an early Pianoforte or Harpsichord.
Interviewer: I'd like to know about the Harpsichord battle between you and Hande-
Interviewee: He is a decent organist, but I come on top. He will tell you "I won" but he doesn't want to admit defeat (Laughs).
Interviewer: And Maestro Johann Bach?
Interviewee: he is a master at everything. A man who played for many a king, men of his nature who can improvise 2 to 4 voices geniuses.
Interviewer: on the note of composition, what do you think of jazz?
Interviewee: It's rubbish, but the fact that there's a counterpoint, it's ruined by the rubbish they play.
Interviewer: Do composers before your birth exist in the Keyboard?
Interviewee: Too many of us exist, too many for me to mention and many i don't even know,
Interviewer.: Alright, that's all for now. Would you like to say anything for the record?
[End Log]

Note: Accounts from the Harpsichord battle between Handel and Scarlatti Checks out.

Addendum XXXX-1.2: Experiment Log #4
A researcher with a Bachelor's of Music, majoring in Piano Performance was instructed to play a Piano Concerto of his choice, instructed to bring the sheet music (Either for 2 pianos or the entire score including the orchestra) and a class D personnel who was given the job of Page turner. A Copy of Anton Rubinstein's op. 40 was brought. Upon starting, Orchestral music was heard as the Performer was ready, though both startled and confused, they continued until it was the researcher's queue to play his sections. No manifestation was observed until the end of the first movement when a manifestation of Rubinstein appeared and applauded the performer and the page turner although he was critical of his work, he admired their interpretation. Upon asking where the orchestra came from, the manifestation said "The Piano" and disappeared.

Addendum XXXX-1.4: Experiment Log #5
No sessions were done in a span of a week, a loud ringing was heard by personnel and subjects near a 100m radius. A ringing could not be recorded. Subjects and personnel inspected had no anomalous and/or medical problems. It's unknown how the ringing starts but upon a 6 hour session the ringing disappears.

Addendum XXXX-1.5: Experiment Log #6
Some amateur compositions and compositions from living composers were played. No anomalous activities, thus manifestations only appear when a composer has died. However if the piece is written in the style of Baroque, the piano's sound will change that to a harpsichord.
