Description: SCP-4000 designates a number of unusually preserved archaeological sites located beneath the Rub' al Khali desert in the Arabian Peninsula. Each site is self-contained within a hemisphere-shaped cavern approximately .4 kilometers below the other. These caverns vary in size but all are capable of containing an entire city or even a small country. It appears that each civilization was built over the same general location of the previous occupier.

Caverns are listed in descending order, from most recent to oldest:

+ Cavern 01: al-Mijad 

The ruins of the first cavern resemble a relatively modern Arabian city. Based on architecture and primary source documents, the city was last occupied during the late 1980s and seems designed for royalty and other affluent denizens. Had the city naturally falling into a collapsed cavern it would have been buried in sand but such is not the case.

Documents found within the ruins call it as "al-Mijad" ("The Glory") and state that it was founded during the early 1800s by the House of Faizan, an apparently powerful Middle Eastern royal family that once ruled this civilization. These sources describe al-Mijad as an economic and military "powerhouse" despite its relatively small size. Initially settled by Bedouin, the discovery of a subterranean fresh water supply along with precious, possibly anomalous materials allowed them to quickly thrive.

Though originally Islamic, the denizens of al-Mijad practiced a unique religion seemingly unrelated to any recorded Middle Eastern spiritual traditions.
