Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX housed at site ▀▀▀ and requires level 3 clearance or above for access. Object is to be contained in a 2m x 2m x 2m Cell. See List A for restricted Items not permitted within 1m of object.
Research staff are not permitted to view instances of SCP-XXXX-1 directly, or indirectly, without successfully passing a psyche-evaluation screening for addictive personalities. and likelihood to develop obsessive compulsive disorders.
Research staff are not permitted to handle any instance of SCP-XXXX-1, except under special circumstances granted by Site Director ▀▀▀▀, or someone with equivalent security class. Certain D-class personal may be permitted to physically manipulate SCP-XXXX-1.
All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be incinerated after testing. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 that are deemed necessary to house, are to be kept in a small sealed opaque container, inside of a containment unit to be given a quarantine radius of 4m x 4m x 4m.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1A, or SCP-XXXX-1B, are both permitted common D-class housing units, but may require further special containment procedures on a case by case basis, such as sedative, amnestics, non-lethal force, lethal force, and termination. Entities are not be allowed contact with SCP-XXXX-1 outside of research purposes.
Addendum
As of ▀/▀/20▀▀ testing on SCP-XXXX and all subsequent variants has ceased, pending new technology that may help explain the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX.
All personnel beyond this date who come into physical contact with SCP-XXXX-1 are to be given a class A, to class C amnestic, are to be removed from the site, and are to be sent to a foundation approved addiction counselor to help them cope with any possible memory of SCP-XXXX-1, and related urges to interact with the entity. Personnel are forbidden from returning to site ▀▀▀, and must be reassigned. Any personnel that are successful in making secondary contact with SCP-XXXX-1, are to be immediately removed from site ▀▀▀, and placed under constant surveillance. Additional measures may be taken as necessary, including but not limited to, sedation, amnestics, physical restraint, and termination.

Description:
SCP-XXXX Is a kitchen sink located at site ▀▀▀, and is physically mundane in nature. However, when an object from list A interacts with SCP-XXXX by being placed within 1m x 1m x 1m of the entity, it takes on a number of anomolous properties, and is thenafter categorized as SCP-XXXX-1.
List-A objects become visibly "dirty" immediately upon coming in contact with SCP-XXXX's anomalous zone. Matter attached to SCP-XXXX-1, classified as SCP-XXXX-2, appears to be organic material, resembling leftover food, but that cannot be verified, as attempts to remove the matter from SCP-XXXX-1 have proven to be impossible. Physically, no other alterations can be discerned, and SCP-XXXX-1 is otherwise indistinguishable from any object from list A.
It is currently unclear how instances of SCP-XXXX-2 manifest, as even a frame by frame video of SCP-XXXX-1 displays it transitioning from "clean" to "dirty" with no progression between the two states.
SCP-XXXX, along with 32 units of SCP-XXXX-1, were discovered in the home of ▀▀▀▀ ▀▀▀▀ located at ▀▀▀▀ ▀▀▀▀▀, after neighbors reported a foul stench being emitted from the house, and attempts to reach the owner were futile. Upon investigation from local authorities, the owner was found dead in front of his kitchen sink, having died from dehydration. Autopsy reports his hands had been submerged in water for an extended amount of time, and were also subject to prolonged friction, causing severe loss of tissue.
The officers onsite reported experiencing the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX-1, detailed below. The report by the officer, and a detailed log of the event, can be read in Event Log# EL/XXXX-1, and Event Log# EL/XXXX-2
Individuals who approach within 3m of any instance of SCP-XXXX-1, but cannot see the entity, report feelings of unneasiness, mild anxiety, and a foul smell. This is further intensified by SCP-XXXX, and multiple instances of SCP-XXXX-1 in the same area, within 1m of each other. During testing, personnel placed within 3m or closer of SCP-XXXX, while containing at least 1 or more instances of SCP-XXXX-1, have experienced panic attacks, vomiting, sweating, and had auditory hallucinations. Hallucinations vary, but all include the sound of something wet, or "juicy" being squeezed, stepped on, or somehow compressed, in order to release fluid.
Individuals who physically view any instance of SCP-XXXX-11, feel physically compelled to "clean" SCP-XXXX-1 entities. Despite feelings of varying anxiety, many will attempt to do so for approximately 5-30 minutes, until they eventually become frustrated due to lack of progress, and give up for approximately 24 hours. At this point, individuals are re-classified as SCP-XXXX-1A. During this time period, subjects report feeling highly depressed, unmotivated, and attempt to isolate themselves from social contact. After this 24 hour period, they enter a secondary stage; where they will again feel compelled to clean SCP-XXXX-1, regardless of their distance from the entity. Subjects, on average, feel compelled to do so for a week, and experience extreme impatience, anxiety, and irritability, and will continually demand to "clean" the entity at any chance they get, until they make contact with an SCP-XXXX-1 entity, or symptoms subside.
Subjects shown instances of SCP-XXXX-1 during this period, often become violent, and make exceedingly more dangerous attempts to re-establish contact with the entity, at wherever they knew it to be last located. This has resulted in the termination of multiple personnel for failure to comply with verbal directives, often times posing a threat to the safety of other research and security staff.
No symptoms have been recorded in SCP-XXXX-1A lasting longer than approximately 32 days.
Subjects who make secondary contact with SCP-XXXX-1, are then classified as SCP-XXXX-1B. The Subject will continue to fixate on SCP-XXXX-1's existence up until [REDACTED]. If allowed, the subject will make routine attempts to clean SCP-XXXX-1 throughout the day, with each attempt increasing in length, and desperation until the subject [REDACTED] while attempting to clean SCP-XXXX-1. Separation from SCP-XXXX-1 while subject is conscious, is not possible without restraining or sedating the subject, as the subject will fight fiercely to maintain in contact with the entity. Subjects who are successfully removed from SCP-XXXX-1's vicinity, suffer from varying degree's of mental degradation, believed to be linked to the amount of time exposed to the entity, and the results of their pre-exposure psyche tests. SCP-XXXX-1B subjects have not fully recovered as of ▀▀/▀▀/20▀▀.
Destruction of all known SCP-XXXX-1 entities seems to have no effect on SCP-XXXX-1B entities. Even if subjects are made aware of the destruction of SCP-XXXX-1.
Event Log EL/XXXX-1 is a police report filed by officer ▀▀▀▀ after being detained by foundation personnel.
Event Log# EL/XXXX-1
Incident number:20-▀▀-▀▀▀▀
Date: ▀▀/▀▀/20▀▀
Time:1500HRS
Investigating officer: Trooper ▀▀▀▀▀
Location: [REDACTED]
INCIDENT:
On ▀▀/▀▀/20▀▀ at approximately 1500HRS this officer was on patrol and was dispatched to a do a wellness check at ▀▀▀▀. Ensign Officer ▀▀▀▀▀ accompanied me. Upon arrival we made an attempt to communicate with any residents inside the domicile, before noting a peculiar smell. Officer ▀▀▀▀ recognized this as decomposition, which gave us reasonable grounds to enter the domicile. Attempts to enter the home without damage to property could not be made, so entry into the home was forced. Upon entering the domicile, we found one (1) individual, laying prone, in front of their Kitchen sink. Checking for vitals was interrupted as officer ▀▀▀▀▀ attempted to clean the dishes located in the occupants sink. Upon closer inspection, I also decided cleaning of the dishes should be prioritized. This resulted in a confrontation between me and officer ▀▀▀▀▀ who drew his baton in protest to my interference. I struck the other officer twice in the left jaw, and then restrained and placed him in handcuffs due to his non-compliance with verbal directives from a higher ranking officer. I proceeded to continue cleaning the dishes. He then began to yell expletives at me for the next 10 minutes, before beginning to sob. After being unable to remove any mess from the dishes, I shot Ensign officer ▀▀▀▀▀ twice at point blank. I then went outside, and informed dispatch of the situation, and waited for other officers to arrive on scene.
It was at this point, foundation personnel working undercover at ▀▀▀▀▀▀ dispatch center, dispatched undercover Field Agent ▀▀▀▀▀ to respond to reports of the anomalous activity. Paramedics were not dispatched due to the likelihood of a hazardous environment.
Event Log# EL/XXXX-2
Field Agent: ▀▀▀▀▀.
Date: ▀▀-▀▀-20▀▀
Time: 15:43
Agent responding to suspected anomalous activity at address [REDACTED]. Upon arrival, located officer ▀▀▀▀, who was sitting in their patrol car. Originally unresponsive in my attempts to address him, when they eventually responded, it was with as little effort as possible. At that point I advised the officer that it would be best if he allowed me to disarm him, and place him in handcuffs. Officer ▀▀▀▀ complied, and I placed him in the back of my patrol car.
I then began to move toward the domicile. From the vehicle, I could smell rotting flesh. However, once I was inside the home, I noted an overwhelming unidentifiable stench, and felt physically ill, as well as highly anxious. After taking a moment to recover myself, I pressed forward despite feeling extremely uneasy.
Almost immediately, despite having found two bodies in the kitchen, my attention was fixated on the sink. Resisting urges to interact with it, I studied the two bodies, and noted that it appeared both had possible physical interaction with the sink.
I then exited the domicile, and called in for a containment unit. Officer ▀▀▀▀ was also detained and called in for questioning by the foundation.
MTF Epsilon 6 assisted in the retrieval of the entity.
In order to retrieve SCP-XXXX, the neighborhood surrounding the site had to be evacuated under the guise of a gas leak, for fear of a mass breach. Excavation teams then came in and removed the entity with construction equipment, as directly coming in contact with the entity, had proved to be dangerous.
During recovery, a number of field issue water bottles came into close proximity to SCP-XXXX and altered their structure to the likeness of SCP-XXXX-1. This caused approximately ▀ MTF units to become compromised, and attempt to interact with SCP-XXXX. Leading to ▀▀ injuries, and ▀▀ casualties.
The entity was eventually lowered into a large crate, and transported to site ▀▀▀ where it could be studied.

Interviewer: So. Why don't you tell us what happened.
Interviewee: …
Interviewer: Please, answer the question.
Interviewee: … I shot my partner.
Interviewer: Yes, we know that. We would however like a full recounting.
Interviewee: You have my report. What else do you want.
Interviewer: Your report is… Cold. It lacks emotion. As it should. It should be objective. But what we want the subjective view. We want to know how you felt. What you thought.
Interviewee: Who is "we"?
interviewer: Unimportant. Please answer the question.
Officer pauses for a moment, seemingly uneasy, before speaking.
Interviewee: I felt uncomfortable approaching the kitchen. But, it wasn't the first time I'd felt this way around a body.
Interviewer: So, you believe your source of discomfort stemmed from the body, then?
Interviewee: Yes, what else would it be?
Interviewer: Continue your recounting.
Interviewee: … I heard something strange, and saw my partner furiously washing the dishes above me. I felt… I don't know. Like he needed my help. Really badly. So, I did.
Interviewer: And then?
Interviewee: And then he fucking freaked out on me. Never seen him act like that before, started yelling at me about how it was his "job" to clean'em. I just wanted to help him, so we started to argue about that. He went to pull out his nightstick and I clocked him twice in the face. He went down like a sack of potatoes, so I cuffed him and left'em there while I continued doing the dishes.
Interviewer: Why did you continue washing them?
Interviewee: They were fucking filthy? Absolutely atrocious. But I couldn't get them clean. I kept trying, and trying, and trying to wash those goddamn dishes and they wouldn't come clean. And I just kept hearing Officer yell and scream, it all became so much that I just-I snapped. I was furious. At him. At the dishes. At the dumb ass dead on the floor. So I shot him. And then… I just felt empty. Still do.
interviewer: What made it seem appropriate to use lethal force against your co-worker?
Interviewee: Honestly? Nothing. I was just so fucking angry. None of it makes sense to me.
The officer leans over the desk, resting his forehead on the desk and running his hands over his head, stopping at his neck. He then begins to cry softly.

Officer ▀▀▀▀▀ Was then placed under surveillance in order to be monitored for anomalous activity. After nearly 20 hours of inactivity, but approximately 24 hours since exposure, subject became very irritable, and began yelling at staff to let him get back to his job. He began pacing, picking at his skin, and striking the walls with his feet, and hands. At this point, we re designated officer ▀▀▀▀▀ as SCP-XXXX-1A, and brought him back into the interview room. 3 security personnel were required to detain him, due to his training, and experience as an officer. SCP-XXXX-1A is then restrained to his chair in the interview room.

Over the next 5 days, subject can be seen becoming increasingly more aggressive and anxious, resorting to self harm, and destruction of property. SCP-XXXX-1A was administered sedatives every 4 hours, and had their mental state checked every 8 hours. After 12 days, SCP-XXXX-1A mental state returned to pre-exposure. Sedatives no longer required to house subject. Subject again pulled in for an interview.
