8/██/████
███████, ████████, USA.
Incident type: Info-breach
On the 8/██/████ during annual leave, Senior supervisor and level 4 researcher Dr ██████ █████ was found to have disclosed stories with his two ████ ███████ regarding the foundation, including several anomalous objects. █████ suggests these stories were harmless and “Only told to the █████ as a bed-time story.”
Known anomalous objects disclosed include
SCP-███
SCP-███
SCP-███
SCP-████
Based on the testimony provided by █████ and evidence gathered through later interrogation, these bed time stories were often amicable and thrilling, however still exposed critical information concerning Foundation. Dr █████ states that “[he] made it clear the stories were works of fiction.”
Granted the events that occurred on the 8/██/████, they remained unknown to investigators and the Foundation until the events of 26/█/████. Dr █████'s actions have been determined to be a key factor during INCIDENT 999-202-D.
26/█/████
Site ██
Incident type: Site attack
Foundation casualties: █
On the 26/█/████, Site ██ experienced a large-scale attack led by the townsfolk of ███████, ████████. At 8.██ PM, it is estimated that over ███ ███, █████ and ████████ attacked Site ██ through a ██████████ ██████ that was installed in ████ following procedure ████████-█ and was left undefended based upon its secrecy. Although a majority of attackers were equipped with firearms (Notably those of a civilian or hunting nature), certain members of the group were found to be in possession military grade weapons, armour and ordinance, as well as two instances of SCP-███. The process by which these were obtained is under investigation.
Motion sensors located within the ██████ detected the armed force at 8.██ PM. As they moved down the ██████, a security team were mobilised to intercept. Upon being told to surrender via Site ██’s PA system, the group opened sustained fire towards the door leading from the ██████████ ██████ into Site ██ where, at 8.██ PM, 16 armed guards had amassed on the other side.
CCTV observed as members from the group came towards the door with a specialised breach charge that utilised an initial thermite process, followed by an explosive detonation. The design appeared to be custom built for the door and investigation is ongoing into other possible breaches.
Upon breaching the door at 8.██ PM, security was given permission to use lethal force by Site director █████ █████, the ensuing firefight, lasting 4 minutes and 12 seconds, resulted in security ███████████ a confirmed ███ individuals and wounded ██. CCTV captured █ individuals fleeing the area resulting in the deployment of Xi-3. During the attack, Dr █████ was contacted and immediately approved the deployment of MTF Alpha-1 and Gamma-5 for clean-up and investigation.
Wounded attackers were medically tended to then contained for questioning and interrogation, leading to the discovered that the attack was led by two individuals, ███████ and █████ █████. Their bodies were identified among those ██████████. Investigation into the residences of the two individuals uncovered an obsession with the foundation. This included photos, records, ███ and ███████████ analysis of several researchers and a computer with a number of highly classified documents on it including the SCP-███ ██ █████ containment protocol. (Investigation pending)
As well as extensive documentation and evidence about the Foundation, it was discovered that the number of people involved within the group was far greater than originally thought and through an online blog was reaching █████████ of people daily. Investigation was often slowed due to the extreme hostility displayed by other ██████ residents, which often resulted in aggressive attacks.
Clean-up also revealed a possible link to █████ █████████ involvement, evident via a number of electronic and paper letters sent between the █████ sisters and a known ████ █████████ member (██████ █████). These letters were found to contain a variety of information about the foundation, locations of weapons and supply pick-ups and [REDACTED] (See addendum I-999-202-D-1)
Through a joint effort between MTF Xi-3, Beta-1, Gamma-5 and Mu-4, most all individuals have been tracked and either treated with ██████ or if found resilient, ██████████. To date, this has been the biggest civilian breach and clean-up operation resulting in ████ people undergoing ███████ treatment and a further ████ █████████ across the world.
Task force Beta-1 have since been reactivated with the intentions of [REDACTED]. Meanwhile, a temporary task force (Sigma-7. ████ ██ ████) has been assembled to conduct [REDACTED], as well as lead the development of new containment procedures in case of future info leaks, the designation of such program to be ████████-█.
█████ has since been demoted to D-class (D-█████) and upon his own request permitted to be used in the testing of SCP-████, after which he wishes to be immediately ██████████. Due to his ████ ██████████ at the Foundation and his cooperation, his request was approved by Site Director █████. D-█████ was ███████████ at Site ██ on the 3/█/████.

Incident 999-202-D
[CONFIDENTIAL (05 CLEARANCE ONLY)]
8/12/1991
Polaski, Michigan, USA.
Incident type: Info-breach
On the 8/12/1991 during annual leave, Senior supervisor and level 4 researcher Dr Graham Lynch was found to have disclosed stories with his two young daughters regarding the foundation, including several anomalous objects. Lynch suggests these stories were harmless and “Only told to the girls as a bed-time story.”
Known anomalous objects disclosed include
SCP-999
SCP-458
SCP-261
SCP-2800
Based on the testimony provided by Lynch and evidence gathered through later interrogation, these bed time stories were often amicable and thrilling, however still exposed critical information concerning Foundation. Dr Lynch states that “[he] made it clear the stories were works of fiction.”
Granted the events that occurred on the 8/12/1991 they remained unknown to investigators and the Foundation until the events of 26/4/2004. Dr Lynch’s actions have been determined to be a key factor during INCIDENT 999-202-D.
26/4/2004
Site 19
Incident type: Site attack
Foundation casualties: 3
On the 26/4/2004, Site 19 experienced a large-scale attack led by the townsfolk of Polaski, Michigan. At 8.10 PM, it is estimated that over 300 Men, Women and children attacked Site 19 through a maintenance tunnel that was installed in 1988 following procedure VIGILANT-3 and was left undefended based upon its secrecy. Although a majority of attackers were equipped with firearms (Notably those of a civilian or hunting nature), certain members of the group were found to be carrying military grade weapons, armour and ordinance, as well as two instances of SCP-500. The process by which these were obtained is under investigation.
Motion sensors located within the tunnel detected the armed force at 8.14 PM. As they moved down the tunnels, a security team were mobilised to intercept. Upon being told to surrender via Site 19’s PA system, the group opened sustained fire towards the door leading from the maintenance tunnel into Site 19 where, at 8.20 PM, 16 armed guards had amassed on the other side.
CCTV observed as members from the group came towards the door with a specialised breach charge that utilised an initial thermite process, followed by an explosive detonation. The design appeared to be custom built for the door and investigation is ongoing into other possible breaches.
Upon breaching the door at 8.28 PM, security was given permission to use lethal force by Site director Tilda Moose, the ensuing firefight (lasted 4 minutes and 12 seconds) security terminated a confirmed 288 individuals and wounded 36. CCTV captured 4 individuals leaving the area resulting in the deployment of Xi-3. During the attack, Dr Bright was contacted and immediately approved the deployment of MTF Alpha-1 and Gamma-5 for clean-up and investigation.
Wounded attackers were medically tended to then contained for questioning and interrogation, leading to the discovered that the attack was led by two individuals, Rebecca and Ebony Lynch. Their bodies were identified among those terminated. Investigation into the residences of the two individuals uncovered an obsession with the foundation. This included photos, records, DNA and fingerprint analysis of several researchers and a computer with a number of highly classified documents on it including the SCP-001 XK event containment protocol. (Investigation pending)
As well as extensive documentation and evidence about the Foundation, it was discovered that the number of people within the group was far greater than originally thought and through an online blog was reaching thousands of people daily. Investigation was often slowed due to the extreme hostility displayed by other Polaski residents, which often resulted in aggressive attacks. Clean-up also revealed a possible link to Chaos Insurgency involvement, evident via a number of electronic and paper letters sent between the Lynch sisters and a known Chaos Insurgency member (Declan Brown). These letters were found to contain a variety of information about the foundation, locations of weapons and supply pick-ups and also included a video kept on a VHS tape with the apparent capacity to render viewers resilient to amnestic and memetic effects. (See addendum I-999-202-D-1)
Through a joint effort between MTF Xi-3, Beta-1, Gamma-5 and Mu-4, most individuals have been tracked and either treated with amnestics or if found resilient, terminated. To date, this has been the biggest civilian breach and clean-up operation resulting in 1200 people undergoing amnestic treatment and a further 3947 terminations across the world.
Task force Beta-1 have since been reactivated with the intentions of discovery of any more possible information leaks, in physical or digital form. Meanwhile, a temporary task force (Sigma-7. Know it all’s) has been assembled to conduct psychological evaluations on all Foundation personnel to determine any other breaches, as well as lead the development of new containment procedures in case of future info leaks, the designation of such program to be CALAMITY-1.
Lynch has since been demoted to D-class (D-20216) and upon his own request permitted to be used in the testing of SCP-1230, after which he immediately wishes to be terminated. Due to his long employment at the Foundation and his cooperation, his request was approved by Site Director Moose. D-20216 was terminated at Site 12 on the 3/5/2004.
The anti-memetic and amnestic properties that were described within the documentary were different to any used within the Foundation before, an investigation into it’s origin revealed it largely mysterious in nature and analysis of the video by researchers experienced in psychology have suggested that the video should not help a person with their capacity to resist psychological attacks such as memetics.
The documentary is currently under investigation for possible anomalous properties similar to that of SCP-714. It is currently in unclassified safe storage locker E-19 and has been given the temporary title of "Anomalous item Z-9012" until such time as it can be classified.
NOTICE FROM THE FOUNDATION ADMINISTRATION
Anomalous item Z-9012 has been moved from Safe Storage locker E-19 into direct 05 custody awaiting containment procedures and appropriate title designation.
All personnel who have been involved in preliminary testing are required to visit the infirmary immediately.
— Tilda Moose, Site Director, Site 19
Item#: SCP-8293
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8293 is currently yet to be contained, nor has any method of locating or tracking it's origin been devised. By-monthly psychological checkups are to be utilized in order to discover personnel whom have become infected (hereby referred to as 8293-A). Should an instance of 8293-A be discovered, they are to be debriefed and replaced before having their digital and physical workplace quarantined, packed up before being transferred to Site-2 for processing. Although SCP-8293 does spread outside of the Foundation, its' effects are not considered a high enough priority to allocate foundation assets to the cause. Should an instance of 8293-A be located in the public, they are to be detained and reported to Site Command.
Any civilians or personnel found to be expressing anti-foundation feelings or knowledge are to be assumed infected.
Due to the unknown nature of transfer, it is imperative that no SCP-8293-A be allowed to communicate or talk after being diagnosed.
Description: SCP-8293 is a memetic idea that currently is believed to be transferable through a number of different mediums that would not be normally associated with such an ability. SCP-8293's primary anomalous property is it's ability to manipulate the thoughts of it's host. This manipulation has two main aspects; a mental barrier that resists memetics and amnestics, and the development of anti-foundation morals and thoughts.
It's secondary anomalous property is a slow, but continuous degradation in brain capacity. This process is slow and will not present to a noticeable degree for a approximately 15 years. There is no current known cure, however this process leaves 8293-A instances more susceptible to the primary effect of SCP-8293. As such, it is imperative that all personnel infected are are identified as early as possible.
All testing is to be done at Site-2 by a specialised team, no other site is permitted to undergo an investigation due to the unknown nature of the anomaly.
Item #: SCP-8293
Object Class: Safe (Thaumial pending)
Special Containment Procedures: As of the 5/5/2004, SCP-8293 (Known at the time as Anomalous Object Z-9012), has been kept in 05 possession. SCP-8293 will likely be moved to low risk storage at site 12 following classification. Until otherwise advised, all knowledge retaining to SCP-8293 is to be expunged from all declassified databases and have it's classification increased to 05/8293.
An artificial SCP-8293 document (SCP-8293-04) has been distributed into the system in order to assure containment procedures are followed covertly.
- Any personnel with knowledge of it are to report to an appropriate infirmary for amnestic treatment.
- D-Class who have been exposed to SCP-8293 are to be transferred to secure testing Site-2/05-8293 where viable or terminated.
- Non-essential research staff who have been exposed are to be demoted E-class and moved to Site-2/03-8293 where they are to have no interaction with personnel of lower clearance than 05/8293.
- Essential staff who have been exposed are to be debriefed on current projects before being transferred to site-2 before being re-assigned.
SCP-8293 is currently kept in the 05 confidential lock-up at an unknown location. It is held in a custom built case with shock dampeners and a air conditioning system to keep humidity in the case below 3% in order to preserve quality. The case is to be constructed out of a tungsten-steel alloy and locked with a type 3 tamper-proof lock, the key of which is to be in the possession of the most senior member of MTF Alpha-1 (This is currently General M.W.Matterson.)
Foundation personnel are to be screened on a by-monthly basis using carefully constructed memetics administered by on site psychologists. Any personnel presenting strange results (refereed to as 8293-a) are to be reported to the Site Overseer, who are then to file a report to the 05 council. Said report is to include the name, clearance level, login credentials and work space ID of any personnel in question. Site command is then to begin the debrief process and find someone to replace the 8293-a instance. After debrief, the 8293-a instance is to be detained and his work space, digital and physical, are to be quarantined and packed up without analysis, before being handed over to MTF Alpha-1 who will oversee the transfer of all evidence and the 8293-a instance to Site-2.
Description: SCP-8293 is a video home system (VHS) tape that upon viewing, renders watchers immune highly resilient to all psychological attacks or effects. This is inclusive of memetics, amnestics, hypnosis and presumed the effects of certain memetic SCP's. (See addendum-8293-1)
The VHS tape casing shows minimal to no use, despite being able to be marked or damaged through normal means. It show's branding consistent with VHS tapes produced by Funai Electric, while the tape inside closely resembles T-20 reels.
The tape is a 593 second render of a circle bouncing off the walls of a box that it sits within. When played, the circle starts in the center of the frame before beginning motion towards the lower right corner. This circle will proceed to bounce around the space for a further 586 seconds before abruptly stopping just off center to the upper left, where it proceeds to increase in size while reverting it's color back to white. At 592 seconds, the circle has fully engulfed the frame, after which the video cuts to solid black. Sound effects measured to be a 200Hz beep can be heard throughout the duration of the video when the circle comes into contact with the wall.
There is no static, imperfections or signs of editing such as cue dots throughout the entirety of the video and frame by frame analysis reveals the quality to be far greater than any VHS tape was capable of. When played automatically and instantaneously adjust's to the definition of whatever platform it is played on, this is currently considered a secondary anomalous property. The internal reel was determined to be a T-20 reel, while the outer shell branded markings associated with "Funai Electric." Investigation into Funai's records confirmed the production of the VHS, however files suggest that the original was installed with a T-45 reel. Inquiry into the history of the T-20 reels came up with no leads.
SCP-8293, through testing by preliminary staff as well as during it's containment, has been discovered to be effective in reducing blocking modifying the usual effects of psychological, memetic or amnestic attacks or influences to the point of rendering some innate.
Attached below is the current log of testing performed using SCP-8293
Date: 12/5/2004
Subject(s): D-270522, D-257231, D-912376, D-573424
Test: Subjects are given a key phrase (Obtuse Goose), before having SCP-8293 played for them on a standard 44-inch LCD TV utilising standard speakers. The subjects was then administered a number of amnestics before being asked to repeat the phrase.
Results:
D-270522: Is provided with 30mg of Class A amnestic. Subject is left alone for 5 minutes to allow for the amnestic to work. Subject has no trouble recalling the phrase, nor any events from the week.
D-257231: Is provided with 30mg of Class B amnestic. Subject is left for twenty (20) minutes to allow for the amnestic to work. Subject reports a minor headache, however is able to recall the phrase with ease.
D-912376: Is provided with 150mg of Class B amnestic (Enough to erase 72 hours worth of memory), before being left for 45 minutes to allow for the amnestic to work. Subject reported confusion, however was able to successfully recall the phrase.
D-573424: Subject underwent C-class (Targeted retrograde) amnestic treatment. Process carried over two hours out by amnestic specialist and member of MTF Upsilon-4, Dr Lionel Frost, whom has excellent practice in the field. Subject takes 22 seconds of thinking before being able to recall the phrase. Subject was asked eighteen (18) hours later and was able to recall the phrase instantly.
Notes: D-573424 was taken for an MRI and CT scan to ensure the administration of the class-C amnestic was carried out correctly. Both scans failed to find any form of damage to the brain, suggesting some form of regenerative capabilities. Currently unknown how memories are restored.
Dr Frost has suggested that SCP-8293 be utilised by Upsilon-4 and Eta-10 to assist with their operations in the field. (Under consideration)
15/5/2004
Subject: D-912122
Test: Subject given a phrase (Brilliant Bonanza) before being shown SCP-8293. Subject was then to undergo a broad lobotomy (Multiple parts of the brain physically removed).
Results: Subject was resilient to 3 different sedatives, subject was finally subdued using blunt force trauma via the butt of General Matteson's gun. Subject has skull cut open and brain exposed before being awoken (Adrenaline was the only stimulant that worked).
Subject was asked to repeat the phrase as a control before the lobotomy started.
The first piece removed was the expected location of the memory for the phrase to be kept. Piece was carefully removed successfully. Subject asked to repeat the phrase and failed to do so, subject also had limited knowledge of where he was and what was happening.
Operation was stopped and patient was kept in restrained in a clean-room so the brain can be physically monitored. No healing or regenerative abilities were noted, and the subject still couldn't remember the phrase 12 hours later.
Notes: SCP-8293 is assumed to not provided the brain with immunity for physical damage, however it is currently unknown why the C-class amnestic operation failed in light of this.
16/5/2004
Subject(s): D-947201, D-436745, D-737481, D-202929, D-193465, D-254322 and D-539121
Test: Subjects were presented SCP-8293 in different ways to determine what causes the effect. Subjects given a key word (Baltic Bagel), shown SCP-8293 in some form, before being administered 55mg of class-A amnestic.
Results:
D-947201 - Control (shown unaffected video and audio) - Recalls the phrase instantly.
D-436745 - Visuals only (Audio removed via editing) - Fails to recall the phrase.
D-737481 - Visuals only (Audio removed via muting) - Recalls phrase after instantly.
D-202929 - Audio only (Video removed via editing) - Fails to recall the phrase.
D-193465 - Audio only (Turned away from TV) - Fails to recall the phrase.
D-254322 - Video is sped up by 50% (Via editing) - Recalls the phrase instantly.
D-539121 - A single frame selected at random was removed - Fails to recall the phrase.
Notes: It appears that the anomalous nature lies within the graphics of the video, however there are discrepancies that need to be questioned.
Why does editing the audio fail to present anomalous properties?
If removing a single frame removes anomalous effects, why doesn't blinking or other reasons for a viewer to lose interest.
Although other forms of editing resulted in the nullification of it's effects, the process by which SCP-8293 was sped up retained it's properties, further suggesting a need for every frame to be present.
19/5/2004
Subject(s):** D-421274
Test: Professional stage hypnotist and psychologist D█████ B████ was brought in to test the effects of hypnosis on subjects effected by varying methods and styles of hypnosis. D-421274 was selected by Mr B████ during a selection process in order to identify individuals of increased suggestibility.
D-421274 was then prepared with a series of trigger words, all of which worked as intended upon pre-testing. D-421274 was then shown SCP-8293 before full testing began.
Results:D-421274 had no response to any trigger words that had been only just implanted prior, however showed increased levels of irritation towards Mr B████. Other methods including hypnosis patterns generated through strobe lights and colour patterns also yielded no results, however
D-421274 showed signs of minor photo sensitivity. After a number of different attempts, Mr B████ was asked to stop before being debriefed, provided with class-A amnestics and returned to society.
Although a fair number of us assume we understand SCP-8293, I argue that we have barely scratched the surface and should initiate SCP cross testing immediately. As such, I volunteer to lead a small team of researchers. This could lead to new data on SCP's we couldn't even prior observe or possibly lead to the development of brand new containment procedures. I implore the council to think of the benefits of such testing and the discoveries it could lead to. - Dr Frost (Approved - 05(11))(See Operation: Z-1-PSYCHOSIS)
Below is a list of personnel who have been effected by SCP-8293 and their current status.
D-class
As of the 11/7/2004, there are 7 healthy D-class personnel, 19 in a catatonic state (All exempt from monthly termination), 42 suffering from severe cognitive conditions, 3 in a complete vegetative mental state and 12 suffering from unknown conditions.
Dr.Bright
Due to the current apparent safe nature of SCP-8293 and it's capacity to protect against amnestics and other chemical agents, it has been deemed appropriate to require Dr.Bright to review SCP-8293 after every reincarnation in order to protect his extensive knowledge of Foundation files, events and procedures.
Dr.Verheij
Dr.Verheij was in charge of initial containment and analysis of SCP-8293. After discovering the apparent harmless nature, he and his colleagues were exposed during frame by frame analysis.
Dr.Verheij has since been moved to Site-2, demoted to E-class and is currently being held in non-anomalous humanoid cell Alpha-1.
Prof.Balter
Professor Balter, much like Dr.Verheij, was involved with primary containment and analysis of SCP-8293. Despite not usually being involved in active cases, she wished to witness it as it may be helpful to her research in the field of amnestics.
The professor expressed great annoyance with the confiscation of her work and her subsequent demotion. Site administrators scrubbed all evidence of SCP-8293's from her work and amnestics her handed out to her colleagues as a precautionary measure.
Prof.Balter is currently in the infirmary at Site-2 following an accident during transportation, the professor has been demoted to D-class as a result.
Mr.Goslett
Mr.Goslett was one of the active CCTV operators for the sector in which SCP-8293 trials were occurring, where it is believed that he was accidentally exposed during the research of Dr.Verheij. Despite having been infected, he was not aware of SCP-8293's existence or it's relevance to him. It was deemed appropriate to not inform him of his situation.
Mr.Goslett has now been transferred to Site-64's low-risk SCP containment wing.
Director Hollands
The current location of Director Hollands and what exactly he is in possession of is unknown. Director Hollands is currently considered a high priority target by the foundation with numerous foundation personnel and allies investigating his whereabouts.
Upon SCP-8293's containment procedures being updated, Hollands had just finished being briefed by Prof.Balter into the nature of SCP-8293.
It is currently assumed the director, fearing for his security due his knowledge in the matter, had fled. It is currently unknown what he had in his possession at his departure, or how he successfully neutralized eight guards, two members of MTF Epsilon-11 and a supply helicopter pilot before escaping.
Operation Z-1-PSYCHOSIS is a covert program in order to cross test SCP-8293 with other known memetic and psychological hazardous SCP's.
The current list of candidates are:
SCP-426 (The Toaster)
- People catch on that they are referring to the toaster in the first person and are eventually able to think/discuss/talk about it as if non-anomalous.
SCP-1074 (The Painting)
- The painting appears as the fanciest piece of art the observer has ever previously witnessed, usually the Mona Lisa. It holds no apparent anomalous properties outside of this interaction.
SCP-___-J (The procrastination rock)
- Exposed subjects become the center of a "procrastination bubble" that effects all other individuals within a certain area, without being affected themselves. (Not permanent)
SCP-586 (The Spelling Error)
- Subjects tend to still make spelling errors at a rate commonly associated with the object, however they have the capacity to identify them and fix them immediately.
SCP-12 (A Bad Composition)
- Subjects fail to see any markings on the parchment at all and have no compulsion's of any kind while in direct vicinity.
SCP-35 (The mask) (Finale)
- Subject's consciousness is not overlapped upon the application of the mask, however the mask's is still implanted resulting in severe mental trauma for what is assume to be both the mask and subject. After a number of minutes, it is discovered that the subject and the mask had grown a bond and developed partial telekinetic powers, resulting in a containment breach.
SCP-303 (The Doorman)
- Subjects still suffer from extreme fear and dread, however certain individuals have successfully opened doors despite the presence of the SCP-303. This results in the instantaneous removal of teeth and lungs from the subject and the disappearance of SCP-303
SCP-1999
- Subjects feel no compulsion to return items brandishing SCP-1999's mark with no other anomalous effects observed.
SCP-055 (The anti-meme)
- Test was set up very carefully in order to minimize the risk of any possible breach, as well as ample psychological support staff on stand-by. Test was cancelled by direct order of 05.
Item #: SCP-4222
Object Class: Euclid
Containment Procedures: A standard humanoid containment cell outfitted with a bed, bathroom and desk is ample, however it must be located at least 50 100 meters from infirmary's, sleeping quarters or psychologists offices. Meal's are to be provided directly to SCP-4222's room by any member of staff or D-Class who have been cleared of any known triggers. Any personnel who enter SCP-4222's containment cell, unless otherwise advised, must have minimal skin exposed and are to avoid direct skin contact unless under testing conditions. Personnel are allowed to interact with SCP-4222 throughout the day, however careful records must be kept of interviews, comments or any accidental or planned exposures.
Addendum-4222-1 : SCP-4222 and SCP-096 may not be kept at the same site.
Description: SCP-4222 is a Caucasian male who's birth records suggest he was born in 1986 in Camden Town, England under the name ██████ ██████. SCP-4222 speaks fluent English and knows minimal amounts of other common languages including spanish, french, japanese and russian. The University of St Andrews held records that confirmed that SCP-4222 had indeed completed a PHD in Psychology, specializing in psychiatry. It is currently theorised that SCP-4222 was born and raised as normal, only to develop anomalous properties later in life.
SCP-4222 physically is indistinguishable from any other person, requiring normal dietary requirements, sleep and hygiene. He acknowledges his condition openly despite not knowing how it manifested, only knowing he became aware of it roughly four months before his containment. SCP-4222's anomalous properties become apparent when someone of unsound mind is in his presence. This includes individuals suffering from: PTSD, ADD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, most forms of autism, tourettes and other similar mental illnesses. SCP-4222 will feel a deep compulsion to help anyone who approaches him with such conditions. The effect is not based on line of sight, however the "severity" of the individuals condition greatly amplifies the range at which SCP-4222 is able to sense them. Currently, SCP-4222 has failed to be able to detect individuals from over 80m away.
Introduction to safe interaction with the Absolute Zero Unit.
Cryogenics is the science of using the extreme cold to effectively and harmlessly preserve biological matter over extended periods of time, In theory up to thousands of years. This keeps anomalous bacteria’s, virus’ and certain biological SCP’s in a dormant state, allowing for their study to be undertaken safely, and greatly improves containment reliability and effectiveness. However, the AZU and other cryogenic units used by the foundation pose a significant risk to those who are not fully informed on the safe handling of the units themselves, as well as any contained SCP’s. This document is intended to provide the needed information to ensure all personnel can continue safe research practices around the relevant cryogenic units and their contents.
Part One: The Absolute Zero Unit (AZU)
The AZU is a marvel of foundation engineering, harnessing advanced thermal absorption methods in order create an environment with an average temperature of 2o kelvin. Comprised out of a compressed carbon-silicon composite and fuelled by two foundation produced IFzX-72 nuclear generators, it is one of the largest Foundation innovation’s lead on Earth. Built at armed research and biocontainment site 83, its 19 m3 currently houses 82 specimens that would not be containable by conventional cold storage.
Due to the effects of absolute zero on most forms of matter, there are significant restrictions on materials that can be used within the unit. This includes materials used for protective gear, shelving, specimen storage and transport.
Lead-213 has been proven effective at surviving extreme colds and as such has been utilised in all protective clothing, transport modules and external wall linings.
Silicon-42 has also shown resistance to the extreme cold, although it is radiologically active by nature, the extreme atomic shrinkage caused by the cold stabilises the atom. It is the core component to be used within all specimen containers and is a core component in the wall plating.
Any other materials that ever require entrance into the AZU need an atomic compression index >3 in order to ensure that it does not fracture under the immense cold, except for the following materials:
• Silver
• Gold
• Mercury
• Iron alloys
All the aforementioned materials, despite having a compression index >3, have unpredictable effects when exposed to extreme colds such as atomic expansion, atomic instability and in the case of mercury, extreme heat.
Part Two: Protective Gear
Despite the AZU having an intricate system of machinery to minimise the need for individuals to enter the main chamber, mechanical failures tend to happen for frequently due to the harsh conditions and as such human assistance is usually required.
If/when entering the main chamber of the AZU is required, there is a lengthy process required to ensure the health and safety of entering individuals. These safety processes are to be undertaken by all individuals entering the AZU, including any D-class.
The interior chamber of the AZU is a perfect vacuum due to the liquidation of all gasses inside, as a result, heat transfer is actually very slow and the primary focus is not on keeping individuals warm, but rather assisting them in a perfect vacuum.
As such, the following gear is required:
• T3 knitted thermals with full water proofing, with tape and/or bands used at the wrists, neck, ankles and torso.
• Standard chemical processing and handling gear consistent with the highest required for any anomaly contained within the AZU. (As of the 17/6/2018, this would be level 7.)
• The A-1F-99-AZU modified deep space protection suit with full SCBA capabilities.
Although it has not been tested, it is calculated that no individual should stay within the AZU for longer than 15 minutes.
Upon exit of the AZU, a five-minute decompression is to be undertaken to ensure no atmospheric leaks have occurred within the suit. After decompression, full decontamination of both the A-1F-99-AZU suit and the chemical processing and handling gear is required.
*Warning* It is ill-advised to, at any point, remove any protective gear in order to touch, smell or “lick’ any surfaces on the Interior of the AZU.
Part Three: Removal of specimens
Due to the highly volatile nature of specimens contained within the AZU, careful handling of all specimens is always required to ensure they remain in a suppressed state unless expressly desired otherwise for testing purposes.
The internal infrastructure of the AZU can collect and distribute samples to required rooms without human contact. This can only be done from terminal 4-Z-1 and 4-Z-2, both of which can be found in the AZU entrance zone, and only after receiving clearance from the Site director. Refer to the current AZU manager for syntax, inputs, and security access for specimen removal.
There are currently five room’s capable of having specimens directly transferred to, each equipped for different experimental requirements as outlined below.
• Room C#301
A cold experimentation room kept at an average temperature of 203o kelvin. The room is equipped for class 3 biohazard containment and readily equipped for in-room analysis. Under no circumstances should specimens leave the room, except for being returned to the AZU via the in-room collection chute.
The room contains several thermal imaging cameras to measure the temperature of any specimens. If the specimen begins to reach a critical temperature, an alarm will sound, and decontamination teams will be directed in order to begin containment.
• Room C#303
A cold experimentation room kept at an average temperature of 156o kelvin. The room is equipped for class 7 biohazard containment and readily equipped for in-room analysis. Under no circumstances should specimens leave the room, except for being returned to the AZU via the in-room collection chute.
The room contains several thermal imaging cameras to measure the temperature of any specimens, as well as a diode that must be used to confirm the specimen temperature every 30 seconds. If the specimen begins to reach a critical temperature, an alarm will sound, and decontamination teams will be directed in order to begin containment. In the event that the specimen is observed to exceed the designated critical temperature, the room is sealed and purged using incendiary means. After cessation of incendiary measures, the room is autonomously flooded with insecticide, fungicide, aerosol anti-biotics and intense radiation. Finally, the room is flooded with colloidal silver, ensuring all surfaces are coated before being drained away.
Once all protocol is finished, the room me be unsealed for the sole purpose of continued evaluation and, if required, further decontamination by personnel.
• Room C#214
A cold observation room kept at an average temperature of 220o kelvin. The room is equipped for class 7 biohazard and insect containment and readily equipped for in-room analysis. Specimens may only leave the room via being sent into room E#215 for observation or being returned to the AZU via the collection chute.
Room C#214 is directly connected to room E#215 via an automated conveyor system utilizing a triple airlock system, with the center most airlock capable of ejecting liquid nitrogen when required.
Room E#215 is a controlled atmosphere observation and research room, using mechanical limbs and entirely automated systems to carry out research on live, re-animated specimens. Use of this room can only be used with site manager approval due to the obvious dangers associated with a lot of AZU specimens.
E#215 is equipped with the same emergency decontamination protocols as room C#303, as well as experimental protocol SwanSong to be used in the event of a complete inability to establish containment of specimens.
Room E#215 is mounted within an elevator shaft allowing for rapid descent 1900m into the Earth’s crust before meeting up with a secondary set of rails which move the observation room East, where it will ultimately reach foundation controlled blast facility. The facility has been especially designed to withstand a Kilo-class thermal detonation.
Upon E#215 reaching the blast site, it is to have an inbuilt thermobaric bomb detonated. Clean-up should be carried out as required based on the hazard that caused the protocol to be enacted.
An official enquiry is conducted by MTF ALPHA-1 (Red Right Hand) in the event that protocol SwanSong is carried out. If fault is found, personnel will be reprimanded with punishment up to and including termination, depending on the severity of the error.
• Room A#017
Designated as the arrivals room for all specimens en route to the AZU, all standard biological safety precautions are to be undertaken relevant to the specimens currently being handled.
In the rare scenario that a specimen needs to leave the AZU and be transported outside of site 83, Room A#017 may be used. All operations must be directly overseen by MTF Beta-7 (Maz Hatters), until the specimen has reached it’s destination.
Part Four: AZU failure
In the event of a catastrophic failure resulting in the internal temperature exceeding expected figures, an immediate emergency broadcast is to be distributed to all near-by sites, followed by evacuation of on-site personnel. Once non-vital personnel are evacuated, the site is to enter class 7 biohazardous lockdown with entrance alpha-3 the only door available for entry and exit.
Diagnostics is to be immediately run by on-site personnel, awaiting the arrival of specialised engineering team 43B. If diagnostics initially ends up empty, MTF Rho-9 (Tech Support) is to be given permission to remotely tap into the Site-83’s system and run secondary diagnostics.
In the event that no electrical or digital faults can be located, all personnel not affiliated with the engineering team 43B are to evacuate. Engineering team 43B have until the AZU reaches 30o kelvin before MTF Beta-7 (Maz Hatters) will be given permission to enter the facility in an attempt to retrieve any samples, data or SCP’s that can viably retrieved.
Once the AZU reaches 55o kelvin, if the issue has not been identified, or deemed irreparable within an adequate time frame, all MTF and engineering teams are to retreat to the nearest blast shelter. The onsite alpha warhead is to be detonated as soon as possible as deemed by the highest ranking individual present.
The remains of site 83 are then to be immediately doused in fungicide, insecticide, herbicide and anti-biotics before being investigated for any traces of biological matter or radiological hazards. Only after the all clear is given my MTF Beta-7 may clean-up and data recovery begin. In the interest of safety, all salvage teams should continue to wear level 2 hazmat suits in case of undetected living specimens.
Should any specimens be detected after decontamination was completed, the specimen is to be assumed resilient and must be physically contained immediately. No further attempts should be made to sterilize the area and all further encountered specimens are to be re-contained as per their special containment procedures.
