Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3474 is kept in a safe located at site-19. Personnel of level 3 or higher may use D-Class personnel to experiment as long as the proper request forms have been made. The room SCP 3474 is kept in must remain locked at all times. Researchers may log their results in Experiment Log-3474-Beta.

SCP-3474 is to be kept at area-179 and sealed inside an air proof steel plated box. To enter the room SCP-3474 is kept in requires a clearance of Level 5.

Description: SCP-3474 is a tarot deck containing 21 of the greater arcana tarot cards. Every card has a purple backing with a golden border and a golden eye in the center. Currently, 6 small purple flecks can be seen within each eye. The cards all appear to be well worn and tests approximate them to have been made around the late 12th or early 13th century, which should not be possible as Tarot cards were first recorded in the 15th century. The only card with any major difference is “Death” which appears to have been singed by flames but remains readable and is relatively undamaged.

The only card missing from the deck is “The Devil” which [DATA EXPUNGED] are attempting to find the location of if it still exists. The card was found and [DATA EXPUNGED] along with [DATA EXPUNGED]

TEST 1: Subject pulled the card “The Magician” and returned it to the deck. An hour later, the subject asked for a dictionary. When asked why, the subject responded that they felt like they could memorize anything. A dictionary was brought and the subject read the section “A” then closed the book. The subject then proceeded to repeat word for word the definition of every word in the “A” section.

TEST 2: Subject pulled the card “Strength”¹ and an hour later ripped the door off its hinges and attempted to escape with the cards in hand. It took more bullets than an average human should be able to take to neutralize them. Testing paused until further notice. Request for new containment procedures submitted.

After test 2, it was noticed that the flecks in the eye of each card had increased from 4 to 6. Also during this time, a comment said by [DATA EXPUNGED] about a burnt card causing the black plague caused alarm from the O5 council. Object class raised from Euclid to Keter and improved containment procedures put into place. Experimentation with SCP-3000 currently banned. Request to attempt to destroy all cards denied. Request to attempt to burn a card pending.

Addendum: SCP-3474 was bought by Dr. █████ at a local antique dealer on March ██th, ████. Upon opening the container the cards were in, Dr. █████ pulled “The Wheel of Fortune from the deck and an hour later learned she had won the lottery. An hour after this event, she discovered her mother was cured of cancer. Many say she was a believer in omens and not believing her luck, she contacted The Foundation and reported her suspicions that the card she pulled had caused her extreme fortune. A few hours later a Foundation officer found her body inside her apartment in [DATA EXPUNGED] with a broken neck which seemed to be caused by [DATA EXPUNGED]. The Foundation quickly removed the cards and brought them to site-21.
