Item #: SCP-7071
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-7071 is to be contained within its containment chamber located at Site-██; which is a soundproofed concrete enclosure with dimensions of approximately 5 m x 5 m x 5 m at all times. Under no circumstances are any forms of audio recording devices allowed within the containment cell beyond the designated timeframes (See "SCP-7071 Access Periods" file for additional details) without authorization from authorized testing personnel. All personnel entering SCP-7071's containment chamber are to wear standard issue earmuffs at all times. In the event of an audio recording from within SCP-7071's containment chamber being created without the authorization of authorized testing personnel, it is to be apprehended and destroyed immediately.
Description: SCP-7071 is an audio device resembling a modified cassette player which was originally discovered inside a classroom cubby within a preschool in Kiev, Ukraine following what was originally suspected to be a bio-terrorist attack by local law enforcement. SCP-7071 is accompanied by a cassette tape identified as SCP-7071-1, which when within SCP-7071's tape tray plays an audio recording of a child's lullaby, which causes an immense sense of exhaustion and a sudden uncontrollable urge to rest regardless of prior activities the individual may have taken place in. SCP-7071-1 has been observed manifesting into SCP-7071 despite it's previous location at any point outside of the designated timeframes (See "SCP-7071 Access Periods" file for additional details) and playing automatically. Subjects affected by SCP-7071 are seemingly put into another reality identified as SCP-7071-2, which maintains a form of one-way continuity with our reality. While within SCP-7071-2, subjects experience a mirror world to that of the primary reality in which subjects are not able to interact with the primary reality, however can still perceive and observe occurrences taking place outside of SCP-7071-2. Recordings from SCP-7071-2 show instances a humanoid entity identified as SCP-7071-3, who is physically non-hostile when encountered however has the capabilities of causing psychological damage to subjects within SCP-7071-2. SCP-7071-3 has only been observed as having spoken to subjects in one instance (See "Addendum 7071.08: Interview Session 2" for additional details).
Access Periods:
During the following time periods SCP-7071's containment chamber is accessible to non-testing personnel for cleaning and maintenance work:

Observational Log 7071.OL.1 SUMMARY
Subject(s): D-1096
Preface: Test subject (D-1096) enters SCP-7071's containment chamber. Testing was cleared to commence by orders of Dr. Williams.
Observation Notes: After D-1096 enters SCP-7071's containment chamber, SCP-7071 remains dormant. Subject is then instructed by Dr. Williams to activate SCP-7071, to which subject complies. During the duration of D-1096's conscientiousness, no noticeable effects occur. After two minutes and thirty-seven seconds, subject moves over to the bed placed within the containment cell and passes out. After twenty-one minutes and forty-eight seconds, subject shows clear signs of distress while within SCP-7071-2. After approximately three minutes, subject awakes screaming. Subject then begins frantically moving around SCP-7071's containment cell, eventually calming himself before security personnel are ordered by Dr. Williams to detain subject and return him to his personal detainment cell.
Addendum 7071.02: Interview Session 1
Following the removal of D-1096 from SCP-7071's containment cell, subject was interviewed by Dr. Williams while accompanied by security personnel. The following is a transcript of the interview:
Interviewed: D-1096
Interviewer: Dr. Williams
Foreword: Interview transcript following prior testing session (Addendum 7071.02: Testing Session 1). Subject is escorted to interview chamber A-078.
<Begin Log, [September 8th, 1999: 9:37 PM EST]>
Dr. Williams: "D-1096, can you tell me what exactly you experienced during your last testing session involving SCP-7071?"
D-1096: "I experienced a [VULGARITY EXPUNGED] nightmare."
Dr. Williams looks down pauses for a moment, then resumes his questioning.
Dr. Williams: "And can you describe exactly what you experienced?"
D-1096: "It was the same containment cell, I had thought that I just woke up, but nothing I did would attract your attention. I even [DATA EXPUNGED] right in front of you!"
Dr. Williams makes an expression of obvious disgust while pausing.
Dr. Williams: "Can you tell me anything else about what you experienced?…"
D-1096: "There was also this creepy thing in the corner that looked like a shadow."
Dr. Williams: "No discernable features?"
D-1096: "I don't know, how do you expect me to describe something that looked like that? Looked human, had no features other than it's eyes and mouth. Is that all?"
Dr. Williams: "Yes, thank you, that will be all for now."
<End Log, [September 9th, 1999: 9:45 PM EST]>Closing Statement: Dr. Williams motions to attending security personnel to remove D-1096 from interview chamber A-078. Dr. Williams requests that future subjects be screened for undesirable personalities before admittance into testing.
Addendum 7071.03: Testing Session 2
Observational Log 7071.OL.2 SUMMARY
Subject(s): D-7088
Preface: Test subject (D-7088) enters SCP-7071's containment chamber while equipped with a fully functional camera. Subject was given instructions to record as much as possible when within SCP-7071-2. Testing was cleared to commence by orders of Dr. Williams.
Observation Notes: After D-7088 enters SCP-7071's containment chamber, subject is instructed to activate SCP-7071 by Dr. Williams, to which subject complies. After two minutes and twenty-five seconds, subject approaches bed and passes out upon interaction. After nineteen minutes and thirty-eight seconds, subject displays signs of similar signs of disarray to that of prior subject (D-1096), and suffers the same effects. Subject awakes in a panicked state and begins running around the SCP-7071's containment chamber. When asked to cease his activities, subject attempts to escape the containment cell. Subject is terminated by on-site security. Following testing, the camera D-7088 was equipped with was checked by foundation personnel. Camera was in complete working order with numerous recordings of SCP-7071-2 and interactions involving SCP-7071-3 seemingly taunting and gesturing towards D-7088. Camera was sent for further testing and was later determined to have gained anomalous properties itself.
Addendum 7071.04: Researchers Note
SCP-7071 and SCP-7071-1 are to be permanently located within Site-██ by orders of Dr. █████. Future testing restrictions will be lowered to level two (2) clearance.
Addendum 7071.05: Researchers Note
All subjects scheduled to enter SCP-7071-2 are to be equipped with a kit including various tools of importance to both testing (See "SCP-7071 Testing Necessities" file for additional details).
Addendum 7071.06: Testing Session 3
Observational Log 7071.OL.3 SUMMARY
Subject(s): D-4012
Preface: Test subject (D-4012) enters SCP-7071's containment chamber while equipped with the camera utilized in the prior testing session. Subject was given instructions to both record as much as possible when within SCP-7071-2 and to observe any potential unique properties of the camera. Testing was cleared to commence by orders of Dr. Williams and supervised by Dr. █████.
Observation Notes: After D-4012 enters SCP-7071's containment chamber, subject is immediately affected by SCP-7071 and approaches nearby bed and passes out upon interaction. After twenty-one minutes and thirteen seconds, subject begins showing standard signs of disarray before such signs disappeared five minutes later. Subject is observed speaking to with himself while asleep and within SCP-7071-2. Seventeen minutes later, subject awakes in a calm state and is escorted out of SCP-7071's containment chamber.
Addendum 7071.07: Researchers Note
Camera utilized in both SCP-7071 Testing Sessions two (2) and three (3) has been observed as capturing imagery not capable of being captured by cameras that have not previously entered SCP-7071-2. Camera is now seemingly capable of detecting occurrences from within SCP-7071-2 when recording outside of SCP-7071-2.
Addendum 7071.08: Interview Session 2
Following the removal of D-4012 from SCP-7071's containment cell, subject was interviewed by Dr. Williams while accompanied by security personnel. The following is a transcript of the interview:

Dr. Williams: "D-4012, is there anything that you can tell me about what you experienced during your last testing session involving SCP-7071? The state you awoke in was quite… Extraordinary to say the least."
D-4012: "At first I was freaked out. Not just because you wouldn't respond to me, but because… Well, this creepy [VULGARITY EXPUNGED] dude in the corner waved to me then asked if I wanted to talk."
Dr. Williams: "I see. This was recorded on the camera you were given prior to entry, yes?"
D-4012: "Yeah."
Dr. Williams: "Ah yes, what exactly did it speak to you about?"
D-4012: "The dude in the corner? He just asked me questions about my life as if he were a close friend of mine, like how I was doing and how my kids were doing. I didn't even tell him that I had kids, but it knew somehow.
D-4012 pauses for a moment before resuming briefly.
D-4012: "It was actually relatively pleasant."
Dr. Williams: "Did this entity do anything threatening to you while you interacted with it?"
D-4012: "No, again he and I just talked, then right before I woke up he just waved, said bye bye all while he smiled at me."
A brief moment of silence begins while Dr. Williams sifts through paperwork.
Dr. Williams: "I do not believe that I have any more-"
Dr. Williams is cut off by an interruption caused by a question from Dr. █████, addressing a question regarding D-4012.
