Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently being contained at Site-76. SCP-XXXX's container is shaped as a circular cylinder to minimize the risk of being affected by its properties.
No objects bearing the shape of rectangular prism are allowed near SCP-XXXX except for testing purposes under any circumstances. In the case of accidental exposure, affected items are to be destroyed via incineration.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a cube-shaped object measuring approximately 12 cm in width. It is constructed of a material bearing resemblance to pure aluminum in both appearance and atomic structure. Through precise measurements, it has been determined that SCP-XXXX is perfectly cube-shaped in atomic level, and its surface is abnormally smooth; despite this, it can be held without difficulty, and is affected normally by friction.
SCP-XXXX's main anomalous properties manifest when an object shaped as a rectangular prism is brought to its vicinity. Upon exposure, the item (now classified SCP-XXXX-A) begins to undergo notable alterations in its shape and structure. The rate of this reforming varies, although appears to be more effective on items closer to cubes in their shapes.
While the exact duration of the conversion is highly irregular, it will eventually result in the destruction of SCP-XXXX-A, regardless of its material, shape or size. The remains of SCP-XXXX-A show no abnormalities in their chemical composition, color or other usual properties; however, all attempts at repairing the item or reconnecting the pieces will invariably fail.
Item #: SCP-5XXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Containment Facility 5XXX-Alpha has been constructed around SCP-5XXX. The main containment unit is to be equipped with modified heating and lighting systems that are to be kept running at all times, as well as heat insulating materials on both sides of the chamber's walls.
No personnel may enter the chamber at any times. All research on SCP-5XXX is to be done via live camera feed, which are not to be kept on longer than necessary. Proposals for neutralizing SCP-5XXX must be submitted to and approved by at least one member of the O5 Council prior to execution.
Description: SCP-5XXX is a device measuring roughly 45 x 20 x 20 cm in size. It appears to be constructed out of wood and several metal alloys resembling bronze in appearance, although the exact material used is unknown. According to recovered blueprints, SCP-5XXX's inner composition is highly complex and contains multiple components operating in anomalous means.
Externally, the only part capable of motion is a small fan-like component (SCP-5XXX-A), which appears to be constructed out of a metallic substance. SCP-5XXX-A is in continous motion, rotating clockwise at an immeasurable speed. The direction of its rotation has never been observed to change, nor has its speed diminished by a noticeable amount. Instead, SCP-5XXX-A appears to be accelerating gradually, although it is difficult to attain a precise measurement.
SCP-5XXX appears to "absorb" energy from its surroundings: all forms of energy will gradually diminish while in SCP-5XXX's presence. This effect is most noticeable with thermal energy and electromagnetic radiation on the visible light spectrum, however it has been observed in other energy forms as well (see Addendum 5XXX-01). It's presumed that SCP-5XXX transforms this energy into kinetic energy for SCP-5XXX-A, allowing it to keep rotating at an increasing pace.
The rate at which SCP-5XXX "absorbs" energy is somewhat inconsistent, but it has been determined to correlate negatively with the distance to SCP-5XXX. At point-blank distance the energy appears to be absorbed near-instantenously, thus rendering SCP-5XXX practically invulnerable to any damage.
Addendum 5XXX-01: Experiment Log
The following experiment log was conducted to gain further information regarding SCP-5XXXs properties.
Subject: SCP-5XXX's reaction with kinetic energy
Procedure: An ordinary tennis ball was fired at SCP-5XXX via a tennis ball launcher.
Results: Upon impacting with SCP-5XXX, the ball lost all horizontal momentum and fell down. The impact with SCP-5XXX caused no noticeable sound.
Subject: SCP-5XXX's reaction with "passive" energy
Procedure: A 20-liter can of gasoline was placed next to SCP-5XXX for ██ minutes, retrieved before it could freeze.
Results: Upon retrieving and combusting the gasoline, it was noted to produce significantly less light and thermal energy compared to an unaffected sample.
Subject: SCP-5XXX's reaction with a live subject
Procedure: A D-class personnel was instructed to enter the chamber and stand next to SCP-5XXX.
Results: Shortly upon approaching SCP-5XXX, subject began showing signs of fatigue and complaining about feeling cold. Subject proceeded to touch SCP-5XXX, becoming distressed briefly before falling unconscious. Upon retrieval, subject was determined to have expired; autopsy proved inconclusive.
Note: During testing, it was discovered that SCP-5XXX's area of effect is not solid. Due to it seeking the nearest source of energy, the radius is capable of expanding if its immediate surroundings cannot provide sufficient energy. In light of this discovery, and the potential for causing a VK-class end-of-the-world scenario if the effect expands uncontrollably, SCP-5XXX has been reclassified as Keter.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a high-security humanoid containment chamber. The chamber is to have no windows opening direct line of sight to SCP-XXXX, and the walls are to be soundproofed. No personnel are to directly observe SCP-XXXX consecutively for longer than 5 minutes to lower the risk of exposure to its properties.
Under regular circumstances, no personnel are to enter SCP-XXXX's chamber for any reason. Personnel reaching stage 3 of exposure to SCP-XXXX are to be retrieved as soon as possible to prevent creation of SCP-XXXX-1. In the event that SCP-XXXX breaches containment or an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is created, Mobile Task Force Eta-10 (See No Evil) is to be dispatched immediately. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be contained in a manner similar to SCP-XXXX until their expiration.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid entity of unknown ethnicity and gender. Little visual evidence is kept due to SCP-XXXX's properties, and questions regarding its appearance directed at exposed personnel prior to their expiration have been proven inconclusive. SCP-XXXX is often described by these personnel as 'attractive' or similar variants of the word.
When a living person (hereby referred to as 'subject') enters the vicinity of SCP-XXXX, a series of events will occur as displayed below. The duration of each stage varies, usually between 2 and 10 minutes. Prior to reaching stage 3, removing subject from SCP-XXXX' vicinity will prevent the rest of the events from occurring.
- Stage 1: Subject and SCP-XXXX greet each other, engaging in a friendly conversation. Subject is reported to display signs of contentment and reduced stress levels._
- Stage 2: Subject begins to express discomfort and anxiety, but will nonetheless continue the conversation. SCP-XXXX shows no change in behavior._
- Stage 3: The symptoms begin to worsen. Subject is often reported to hold their head and begin talking to themselves, but maintaining a line of sight to SCP-XXXX if possible._
- Stage 4: Subject collapses on the floor, remaining conscious but unresponsive to external stimuli. SCP-XXXX will remain near subject if possible, but does not show concern towards them or attempt to help._
- Stage 5: Subject falls unconscious. Attempts at waking subject up will invariably fail._
- Stage 6: Subject's body will undergo several visible alterations within the span of approximately 30 seconds. Following the cessation of the alterations, subject will expire. Subject's body will become notably deformed and fragile, in some cases breaking apart altogether._
If subject instead witnesses SCP-XXXX directly, via camera recording or even an image, a similar series of events will occur; however, rather than engaging in a conversation, stages 1 and 2 consist of subject speaking of SCP-XXXX and expressing admiration or enthusiasm. Stages 3 to 6 will occur as normal.
SCP-XXXX has expressed no remorse or concern for subjects killed in this manner, denying all responsibility (see the interview log in Addendum XXXX-01). Following stage 6, SCP-XXXX will typically resume its prior activities; however, in some cases it will remain with the deceased subject, occasionally resulting in the creation of SCP-XXXX-1 (see Addendum XXXX-02).
Addendum XXXX-01:
SCP-XXXX has displayed high levels of intelligence and unnatural physical capabilities, resulting in several containment breaches since its initial containment. SCP-XXXX does not appear to attempt escaping during its breaches, instead searching for subjects to converse with. During recontainment, SCP-XXXX will express little to no resistance, although often comments on its disappointment if failing to meet any subjects.
The following interview was conducted shortly after a containment breach. Due to SCP-XXXX's properties, the interview was conducted virtually.
Interviewer: Dr. Oliver Moon
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. Moon: [Greetings, SCP-XXXX.]
SCP-XXXX: [Greetings, doctor. What appears to be the issue?]
Dr. Moon: [I would like to talk to you about your containment breach, and its consequences.]
SCP-XXXX: [Consequences? And why must the interview be held this way? I'd much rather speak to you in person.]
Dr. Moon: [You know exactly why we're doing it like this. Back to the topic. Four members of our personnel were killed because of you.]
SCP-XXXX: [Because of me? No, I don't believe so.]
Dr. Moon: [None of them had been reported with any major health issues, certainly not major enough for them to die like they did. Don't try to tell me you didn't see their bodies.]
SCP-XXXX: [You misunderstand me, doctor. I did not kill those men.]
Dr. Moon: [Are you trying to claim that them all dying at the same time, while you were around, was a coincidence? We've seen this happen before, too, and it always goes the same way.]
SCP-XXXX: [Again, you misunderstand me. I am not responsible for their deaths, they did it to themselves.]
Dr. Moon: [Are you saying they committed suicide?]
SCP-XXXX: [No, no, of course not. I'm certain they wanted to live. I could feel their determination, their fighting spirit.]
Dr. Moon: [What do you mean "fighting spirit"?]
SCP-XXXX: [I mean exactly what I said. They fought hard, but succumbed in the end.]
SCP-XXXX: [I understand your concern, but please don't blame me for this. I don't wish for their deaths, either. It isn't my fault that they idolize me so much.]
Dr. Moon: [You aren't making any sense.]
SCP-XXXX: [Don't worry, I'm sure you'll understand eventually. Once I find the right candidate, you all will see.]
(Following this message, SCP-XXXX did not respond to further attempts at communication.)
