Mikell's Love Lost Silky_Fox

"Mikell, sweetie?" Amy calls her soft voice heavy with sleep "Come to bed, it's late." she pleads; rubbing the tiredness from her eyes; on the edge of the bed sat her husband smoking dressed only in a pair of tight jeans as usual after they've had their fun when he comes home. "Please." he doesn't reply the man takes a long drag of his cigarette before snuffing out the butt in the ashtray on the bedside table.

"Amy."

"Yes?" she sits up the blanket wrapped loosely around her naked form.

"I love you." Mikell sighs leaning back the moonlight shining through the window illuminates his pale skin casting a soft glow in the darkroom.

This time it's her that sigh "I- I can't say that to you, dear." the woman sounding as if she's on the verge of tears the silence stretches out for what feels like hours neither making a move to continue the conversation until her husband lights another cigarette. "Mikell. I- W-we've grown apart haven't we?" he can feel his heart clench, he knew it was coming you don't get to your third wife without a reason.

"Yes," he admits blowing smoke into the air.

"Maybe we can reconnect- be like we used too, just quit your job and we can; I don't know go live on a farm," she begs, she reaches out to put a hand on her husband's shoulder; he smacks her hand away. "I- is it another woman?" her voice wavers, he shakes his head "Are you just not happy with us anymore?" she wraps her arms around him this time Mikell makes no moves to deter her. "Please. We can make this work; we can make us work."

Mikell leans his head back resting it on her shoulder letting Amy cry into his neck, it's not that he didn't love her quite the opposite he'd give up the world to be with her if it didn't mean the world would end in the process. "Love." she looks up at him big brown eyes filled with tears "I'm sorry." he reaches his free hand up carefully combing his fingers through her bangs "Don't cry, you're too beautiful to be sad." she snorts leaning into his touch.

"Do you remember what I used to call you?" she hedges, he puts the cigarette out as he turns to face her cradling the woman in his arms.

"My brave cowboy." he murmurs into her hair; five years ago back when they were still dating, when he was still an agent he'd taken her on a date to a rodeo and won three blue ribbons! One for breaking in a stallion, one for bull riding, and the last for herding he remembered seeing the excitement on her face the pride she has as she showed off his ribbons; making jokes that her city slicker is a rooting tooting country boy even bought him a hat and boots for his birthday the day after.

"Do you remember what I used to call you?" he returns the woman in his arms she pulls back to look him in the eyes.

"Bunny." she smiles rubbing their noses together "How could I forget." He chuckles gods above would he love to forget; forget about everything bad that's ever happened, with Tj, with Jack, with David, with Evan, even with his parents but he wouldn't; he couldn't it'd be a disgrace to their memories.

"I'm sorry, I made you cry I made you worry." he kisses her cheek his auburn hair tickling her nose "Forgive me?" the words made him tighten his grip on her as if he let go she'd be whisked away to never been seen again.
