p03phvq4.jpg

A reconstruction of an actual Archaeopteryx based on fossils.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept at a secure location simulating the forest surrounding the Mourne Mountains in Ireland. Observing SCP-XXXX directly during feeding results in a Class III cognitohazard.

Do not open SCP-XXXX's containment if SCP-XXXX appears to go missing.

If SCP-XXXX cannot be located using camera feeds or observation windows the use of thermal imaging is recommended.

Any personnel wishing to preform tests with SCP-XXXX much first gain permission from Researcher Selena and be equipped with thermal imaging gear.

SCP-XXXX in containment

When a rodent is released into containment SCP-XXXX starts to stalk it's prey becoming invisible. Once between 8-15m SCP-XXXX appears and shifts its feathers in a memetic pattern that has been observed to create a "deer in the headlights" effect paralyzing the subject. This pattern will work on most mammals including humans. After the prey is paralyzed SCP-XXXX strikes summarily consuming the subject. This ability has been tested and will work on humans as well. Subjects effected by the pattern have reported feeling calm and relaxed. After viewing ended subject reported headaches and a weak desire to move closer to SCP-XXXX (see test log).

This ability was discovered while capturing SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX was brought to the attention of the foundation after a hiker reported being attacked by a "giant bird"t to the local authorities. When agents came to the effected area SCP-XXXX was spotted from helicopter using thermal imaging. Teams were dispatched and quickly located SCP-XXXX. When it was approached SCP-XXXX activated it's cognitohazard ability and stunned the MTF team. Instead of striking the team SCP-XXXX quickly became invisible and flew off. SCP-XXXX was located later that night using thermal imaging while resting and was tranquilized and brought into containment.
