Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in set of lock boxes at Site-27 at all times, with varying levels of clearance. SCP-XXXXA, SCP-XXXXB, SCP-XXXXC, and SCP-XXXXE may be accessed at any time with written permission by a level-2 researcher. All of the previous SCP-XXXX objects have their own lock boxes, color coded for simplicity. SCP-XXXXD may only be accessed by a level 4 or above researcher, and is kept in in a lock box with a keypad and passcode. SCP-XXXXF is located within SCP-216, with the code being restricted to 05-4 to prevent a site breach (see Addendum-2)
Description: SCP-XXXX is a collection of 6 (Six) lighters (designated A-F) discovered on ██/██/████ in Wichita Falls, Texas. The foundation recovered SCP-XXXX after a news report of a house fire detailed a "living flame" consuming the house. During foundation investigation, the remains of a domestic feline were found, but no other organic material was located on site. Class-B amnesics were administered locally and a cover story regarding a gas leak was released. The previous residents of the house (█████ ████ and Dustin ████) are currently under investigation. When SCP-XXXX was originally recovered, It was found in a cardboard shoe box with 2 bottles of ███████ brand lighter fluid and a collection of notes. (designated Document-XXXX-1, Document-XXXX-2, and Document-XXXX-3) After the lighter fluid and the shoe box were discovered to be non-anomalous in nature, they were discarded by incineration.
SCP-XXXXA-F are all lighters approximately 3.5" inches in height, varying in color. When in a non-active state, lighters are completely non-anonymous, with weight and composition matching that of a ███ brand lighter. When ignited, bipedal entities composed of flame will appear to exit the lighter and interact with the igniter (designated "subject"). Each entity interacts differently depending on the request of the subject, but generally, the reaction is intended to help the subject. While the entity is interacting with the subject, the lighter fluid within SCP-XXXX will deplete at a rate consistent to that of a lighter burning, lasting between 40 minutes to an hour, depending on intensity of usage.
SCP-XXXXA is an orange lighter with "FRIEND" written in black sharpie on the side. When ignited, an orange biped appears to "squeeze" out of the gas release. SCP-XXXXA-1 is two (2) inches tall and 1.5 inches thick around the middle, and has a tubby, soft appearance. Once SCP-XXXXA-1 has exited the gas release (often with some difficulty due to aforementioned girth), SCP-XXXXA-1 will excitedly run around making high pitched vocalizations. SCP-XXXXA-1 will be extremely interested in whatever the subject is doing, acting in a manner similar to a small child, which has been shown to greatly increase the mood of the subject. The body of SCP-XXXXA-1 is lukewarm to the touch, and will often rest upon the shoulder of the subject when they are mobile.
SCP-XXXXB is a lime green lighter with 'HOMEWORK" written in black sharpie on the side. After ignition, SCP-XXXXB-1 will emerge, appearing to slide out of the gas release very quickly. SCP-XXXXB-1 is three (3) inches in height, appearing a verdant green and very thin, with long arms ending in stubs, a short torso, and legs extending almost the full length of his body. SCP-XXXXB-1's body is, for the most part, a similar temperature to that of SCP-XXXXA-1. However, the tips of SCP-XXXXB-1's stubs are somewhat hotter and significantly more luminescent, but can still be touched with little to no damage to human tissue. When the subject presents SCP-XXXXB-1 with any form of paperwork, SCP-XXXXB-1 will either (1) Write down equations or formulas related to the subject, if math equations are present, or (2) will fill out certain parts of the paperwork, leaving sections empty so as to allow the subject to finish. SCP-XXXXB-1 does this by etching in the handwriting and general tone of the subject. How SCP-XXXXB-1 understands the style of writing, even in illiterate subjects, is currently unknown. When SCP-XXXXB-1 is not actively doing work, it often draws various small animals and other SCP-XXXX entities in the margins of the paper while the subject is working on their paperwork.
SCP-XXXXC is a sea blue lighter with "CALM" written in black sharpie on the side. During ignition, subjects have reported feeling a "wave of energy" pass through them. After a few seconds, SCP-XXXXC-1 will emerge. SCP-XXXXC-1 is about eight (8) inches tall, with light blue coloration and low opacity, appearing similar in nature to ocean water. SCP-XXXXC-1 will then calm and sooth the subject, usually dependent on what traumas the subject has gone through. SCP-XXXXC-1 has also shown to emit odors, such as lavender and vanilla, in order to lower the heart rate of subjects experiencing panic. Subjects report that after testing with SCP-XXXXC-1, they can sleep with significantly less difficulty. SCP-XXXXC-1 has show extensive knowledge of therapy sciences1, and has been shown to lessen the effects of PTSD and various other traumatic disorders.
SCP-XXXXD is a hot pink lighter with "PERSUADE" written in black sharpie on the side. when ignited, SCP-XXXXD-1 appears to "pop" out of the gas release. SCP-XXXXD-1 stands at 0.8 inches tall, and can move quite fast, at a rate of about 2 feet per second. Due to it's small size, the rate at which the lighter fluid burns within SCP-XXXXD-1 is double the norm for other SCP-XXXX instances, lasting up to two (2) hours. SCP-XXXXD-1 will proceed to crawl into the subjects ear, and will hide itself with any available hair. If the subject is bald, SCP-XXXXD-1 will lower its luminescence to around six hundred (600) lumens. Once SCP-XXXXD-1 has been hidden to some degree, SCP-XXXXD-1 will guide the subject throughout their actions. SCP-XXXXD-1 has been shown to give financial advice, relationship counseling, and guidance during situations with intense pressure. SCP-XXXXD-1 has also been shown to change the opinions and views of whoever the subject is conversing with at random. Often, these are not severe changes to personality, but rather mild changes to preference, often matching the preference of the subject. After reviewing Document-4686-2, SCP-XXXXD-1 is to be considered cognitohazardous, and should not be handled by anyone under a level 4 clearance. SCP-XXXXD-1 has been found to be able to completely change the memory and perception of nearly any human. When instructed by the subject with a codeword, SCP-XXXXD-1 will exit the ear of the subject and inhabit the ear of the target. Memory and perception changes to date include ; Convincing a D-class target that they are a member of the 05 council, Convincing Dr. █████ that his wife (Dr. Jennifer █████) was still alive, Convincing SCP-████ that she was SCP-████, and then vice versa. However, testing has proved that SCP-XXXXD-1's effects only last for around a 24 period, and the target will not be able to recall any change. In most cases, the target will not be aware any event happening during SCP-XXXXD-1's effect. As long as SCP-XXXXD is kept in an inactive state, SCP-XXXXD poses no danger of cognitohazardous damage to staff.
SCP-XXXXE is a yellow lighter with "HELPERS" written in black sharpie on the side. Upon ignition, (and with each subsequent ignition) a SCP-XXXXE-1 entity will emerge. SCP-XXXXE-1 instances are 1.7 inches in height, inconsistent in hue, and will work in tandem with other SCP-XXXXE-1 instances to accomplish any task given by the subject (within reason). For every additional SCP-XXXXE-1 instance, the rate at which the lighter fluid within SCP-XXXXE burns increases by around 7% of the original rate. SCP-XXXXE-1 instances have been shown to nod in disagreement if they are given task they cannot accomplish with strength, such as "write a story", "sing a song", etc. SCP-XXXXE-1 entities have proven to be able to lift around 6-8 pounds each, and are also capable of assembling small contraptions, if given the proper instructions. Usage of SCP-XXXXE in construction of machines with extremely small parts is currently under consideration of Dr. Efton.
SCP-XXXXF is a black lighter with "SELF DEFENSE" written in silver sharpie on the side.
Addendum-1: When Dr. Efton was reviewing Document-4686-1, another anomalous effect of SCP-XXXXB-1 was discovered. When presented with encoded documents, SCP-XXXXB-1 is able to decode and write out any encrypted messages within the documents. SCP-XXXXB-1 has been seen to decode glyphs, inscribed messages, and translate over 20 languages. However, digital forms of encoding, such as stenography, cannot be translated by SCP-XXXXB-1.
