SCP-5285 after sanitation.
Item #: SCP-5285
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The metropolitan area surrounding SCP-5285 is to be monitored constantly for any cases of missing, kidnapped, or dead children. Any significant increase in these cases is to be reported in order to signal appropriate personnel to begin Procedure-5285.
Two agents, designated DEN-1 and DEN-2, are to be stationed undercover in the Denver International Airport holding janitorial positions.1 These agents are to conduct normal janitorial services year-round until Procedure-5285 begins. A third agent, designated DEN-3, is to be stationed undercover as a flight attendant based in the Denver International Airport. This agent is to conduct normal flight services year-round until Procedure-5285 begins.
Once Prodecure-5285 begins, DEN-3 is to use their access to flight manifests and records to locate a viable specimen to be used to negate SCP-5285's effects. This specimen must be a pregnant human female that is under 30 years old and will be traveling through the B Terminal of the Denver International Airport shortly. The specimen cannot be one that has been used in Procedure-5285 prior to the current conduction of the procedure. Once located, DEN-3 is to covertly place a fast-acting diarrhetic medicine dissolvent onto the specimen's skin. Following the successful placement of this patch, DEN-1 and DEN-2 are to restrict access to any women's restrooms in the B terminal except for the restroom containing SCP-5285. Due to the effects of the dissolvent patch, the specimen will search for an available restroom in the B Terminal to relieve themselves, which will be only the restroom containing SCP-5285. DEN-1 and DEN-2 are to ensure that the specimen uses SCP-5285 by occupying both of the two adjacent stalls. After the specimen has used SCP-5285 they are to be monitored until they are no longer pregnant to ensure that the infant2 has perished within the womb.
SCP-5285 is to be regularly cleaned.
Description: SCP-5285 is a regulation size bathroom stall located in the B Terminal women's restroom of the Denver International Airport. SCP-5285 has no anomalous appearance, however, at irregular intervals3 the metropolitan area surrounding the Denver International Airport will begin to report a highly unusual volume of missing and kidnapped children cases. If SCP-5285 is not used by an appropriate specimen these cases will gradually increase, and many more children involved in these cases will turn up dead.
Although not definitive, it is assumed that SCP-5285 is the source of the increased volume of these cases, as the moment an appropriate specimen uses SCP-5285 the volume of cases returns to normal. When an appropriate specimen (a young pregnant woman) uses SCP-5285 the infant they are carrying will immediately die within the womb, regardless of how far along the pregnancy is. It is unknown whether the infant's death occurs upon entrance or exit of SCP-5285.
Foundation personnel became aware of SCP-5285 after the Denver metropolitan area began to experience an unusually high volume of missing and kidnapped children cases. Fourteen children were discovered dead by Denver municipal officials until a seemingly unrelated accident resulted in a young pregnant woman dying within a bathroom stall in the B Terminal of the Denver International Airport. The increasing number of cases immediately ceased, and study of SCP-5285 began.
Addendum 5285.01: On 11 October 2013 the Ethics Committee ordered a halt of all foundation activity relating to SCP-5285.
Addendum 5285.02: On 19 February 2014 the Ethics Committee ordered that Procedure-5285 be reinstated. See Log-5285-02.2014
