Special Containment Procedures: Foundation webcrawler 4XXX-Omega monitors the internet for mention of SCP-4XXX (and -1, -2, and -3) and individuals that have otherwise survived their own death, and any individual with knowledge of SCP-4XXX is to be apprehended, interviewed, then amnesticized.

Any instance of SCP-4XXX-1 not under ownership of Foundation personnel is to be stored in low-value storage, and inspected monthly for anomalous activity.

Until the Foundation discovers a method of directly containing SCP-4XXX-2 and SCP-4XXX-3, both are to be considered contained through containment of SCP-4XXX-1.

Description: SCP-4XXX is a phenomenon that allows individuals to anomalously transport themselves to any location by killing themselves.

The phenomenon is currently understood to enable individuals to transport themselves to any location on Earth enables individuals to transport themselves to any location on Earth and in space. In order for an individual to use SCP-4XXX, the following criteria must be met:

• The individual must have SCP-4XXX-1 on their person.
• The individual must intentionally cause their own death.¹
• The individual must visualize their destination in their head before their "death".
• The individual must be aware of SCP-4XXX and believe that it will transport them on death.

SCP-4XXX-1 is a 4.5cm by 12cm piece of paper with "Grim Reaper's Taxi Service" typed on the front side, and small print on the back detailing the terms of service of SCP-4XXX. This writing contains all requirements of SCP-4XXX above (confirmed by Foundation testing), and details on the ritual used to obtain SCP-4XXX-1. A full description of the ritual used to obtain SCP-4XXX-1 is available in Document 4XXX-03, with notable ingredients below:

• 1 human bone from the individual using SCP-4XXX.
• $1505 or equivalent in another currency.
• Soil from a graveyard.
• Three mammalian eyeballs.
• Pineapple Juice.

Upon successful usage of SCP-4XXX, the individual's body will undergo a Type-IIIb demanifestation², and the individual will undergo a Type-III remanifestation at their destination immediately afterward³. Between demanifestation and remanifestation, the individual will experience 10 - 20 minutes of subjective time inside the back seat of a taxi (SCP-4XXX-2) driven by a humanoid skeletal entity wearing a black cloak (SCP-4XXX-3).

Within SCP-4XXX-2, any belongings that demanifest with the individual's corpse will remanifest with them - with the exception of weapons which only remanifest in baseline reality, and electronics which do manifest inside SCP-4XXX-2 but are non-functional. SCP-4XXX-3 is non hostile and willing to enter conversation with the inhabitant of SCP-4XXX-2, however the requirement of recalling dialogue with SCP-4XXX-3 from memory limits the accuracy of the interview logs. Document 4XXX-1: Recovery Log:

SCP-4XXX was recovered from the residence of Albert [][][][][][] on []/[]/2002 after Foundation Agent [][][][] Carter discovered that he had survived the September 11 Attacks despite committing suicide by jumping off WTC 1. [][][][][][] was interviewed, amnesticized, and all records of his death expunged.

Dr Henry: Good evening, Mr [][][][][][]. Are you aware of why we brought you in today?
[][][][][][]: Is it illegal to come back from the dead?
Dr Henry: No, but our organization is interested in how you managed this feat.
[][][][][][]: If I tell you, will you let me go?
Dr Henry: Yes, our organization doesn't have the power to arrest people.
[][][][][][]: OK, I visited a shady guy, and he had this ticket on like a necklace thing, and told me the ritual to get one. I wasn't gonna do it until I accidentally mangled my pinky and had to get it chopped off.
Dr Henry: Can you confirm that this is the ritual?
[][][][][][]: Yes. Are you going to flashy thing me now?
Dr Henry: We don't do that. One last question?
[][][][][][]: Yes?
Dr Henry: How did you get the eyeballs?
[][][][][][]: Are you serious? I got some pig heads from a butcher. Anyway, there's one other thing you should know. You know how there's reports of people having visions of heaven or hell if they're dead for a bit? Well, before I - uh - came back from the dead, I was in the back of a cab for a while. Looked like a normal cab, but the driver was the Grim Reaper. Somehow I didn't feel anything strange about it.
Dr Henry: Did they say anything to you?
[][][][][][]: Yeah, they said something about having to go back to work. To be frank, I don't even know how the Grim Reaper was able to even take time off that day - anyway, before I woke up again I remembered he mentioned something about seeing me again in twenty years.

1. As a result of Incident 4XXX-03, it is understood that the individual need only perform actions that will knowingly cause their death, the phenomenon still works if the ultimate cause of death is caused by another entity.

2. A demanifestation that occurs only when no eye contact is directly or indirectly made with the object, taking the individual's belongings with them.

3. Upon remanifestation, the individual will be healed in such a way that they have a complete skeleton (ie, lost limbs and appendages will be restored, organ damage and scars will not - the notable exception is the individuals hearing which is restored, despite any damage to the outer ear not being restored).
