Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently confined within a standard containment chamber in the Euclid wing of Site-43.

Routine containment procedures are as follows: a non-anomalous replica of SCP-XXXX has been installed and all involved civilians are to be amnesticized.

Witness testimonies and law enforcement records have been altered to falsely disseminate an increasingly prominent trend of malicious pranks conducted by an unknown assailant or group on local mail service.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a postbox possibly containing a hostile entity of unknown motive. Installed in 1999, Shanghai, by local mail service "China Post", SCP-XXXX has been deemed as the sole anomalous version; reasons for the one-off nature of its manifestation are unclear.

An onset of anomalous phenomena occurs when a human subject attempts to introduce an object into SCP-XXXX using its slit orifice. In the midst of inserting it into the slit, subjects experience a sharp, agonizing pain in their fingers. Instinctual response prompts the subject to pull away. The first few attempts are often unsuccessful, forcing the subject to shout for assistance or exert greater force on their affected hand.

Upon separation through repeated attempts, the subject's hand is severely lacerated: 10cm-deep cuts, each extending from the wrist to the knuckles can be seen. The wrist is mostly cauterized by second-degree burns, as a random numerical pattern of 12 digits is imprinted onto the superficial layer of the skin.

Addendum XXXX.1: Discovery

On 10/02/2000 at 19:33 EST, a civilian¹ attempted to use SCP-XXXX, unaware of its anomalous nature, becoming the first recorded victim. The following was recorded by a nearby closed-circuit television facing SCP-XXXX.

<00:00> A silhouette is seen approaching SCP-XXXX from the north-east corner², holding several rectangular objects in their hands including a purple handbag.

<00:15> The silhouette's identity is confirmed to be Mrs. Xun. She extends her arm to insert a flat, rectangular parcel into SCP-XXXX.

<00:19> Mrs. Xun stops as her expression tenses up, dropping the handbag. She gropes her arm inserted into SCP-XXXX and crouches down. Mrs. Xun begins to punch her arm.

<00:36> After a few failed attempts, Mrs. Xun frantically searches around her immediate surroundings. She rummages through her handbag, struggling to grab hold of certain objects with her free hand. Mrs. Xun proceeds to pull away from SCP-XXXX to no avail.

<00:54> Several bystanders tend to Mrs. Xun, who seems to inform them of her situation. The bystanders stand beside her and grab hold of the arm. One of the bystanders, male, chants "One, two, three!" before the individuals stagger backward. Another passer-by, female, contacts local emergency services using her phone.

<01:32> Bystanders are successful in pulling Mrs. Xun's hand from SCP-XXXX. Mrs. Xun's body is limp (possibly from fainting); they drag Mrs. Xun to the side and await for paramedics. Mrs. Xun's palm of the affected hand is facing up; a pool of dark-red liquid can be seen under this palm.
