Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: [Paragraphs explaining the procedures]
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous psychological phenomena. The phenomena is extremely rare, and only around 2██ cases are known to have occurred, though it is estimated that their may be as many as ███ cases that the foundation is unaware of. Approximately 83% of individuals who have been effected have been Foundation researchers, with another 13% being members of the Global Occult Coalition, and the other 4% being split among various anomalous research groups.
Addendum: [Optional additional paragraphs]
The two beings who were "born" together had always been close. They had grown up together, for as much as time was a thing, and they had always been their for each other. They were not alone, not completely, but they mostly kept to themselves. They were a brother, and a sister. The sister was creative, loving to play and create new and wild ideas, letting her imagination run wild. The brother was more grounded, coming up with grand designs for machines and long laid out plans. They were a team, the sister would create things of pure imagination, and the brother would help to refine these ideas into things that had more order, yet still preserving the creative spark as his sister. They continued like this for many times, making many wonderful things. Things that saw, breathed, lived, and themselves imagined other things, and it was good.
After a time, a problem arose. The creativity that had made the sister so good at creation had begun to take more extreme turns. Things that were more and more antithetical to order. At the same time, her mind also became less ordered, she became beholden to her own whims and ideas that came unbidden, creating them without a thought. These things could not be made with her brother, and only served to damage the things they had created together. The brother tried to help his sister, but even his best and most studious efforts were in vain against her growing sickness.
The brother still loved his sister, and he wanted nothing more than to bring back her old self. All that remained of who she used to be was preserved in the things they had created together, but these things were swiftly being destroyed by her own outbursts. The brother sought to restrain his sisters actions until he could find a cure, to prevent more of her former self from being eroded away.
And so, with pain in his heart, he tried to create a machine to restrain his sister. But it was not enough, and they fought. Every blow he struck against her was a blow struck to his own heart. The battle went on, but the brother had a slight edge from having landed the first blow. And so, just barely, he won. But yet, no machine he could create could restrain his sister. The only thing that could cause effect on them was themselves. And so he dedicated himself in whole to the task of restraining his sister, and shielding his creations from her. And so they struggled together, and still do. Him with a broken heart, and her with a broken mind.
Another explanation of humes
In its most simple way of describing it, a hume is defined as "the unit used to measure the quantity of 'reality' in a body, as measured by its effect on the Scranton field."
The Scranton field, named after the late Dr. Robert Scranton, is the field that gives the objects the property of 'reality,' similar to how the Higgs field gives objects the property of mass.
Similarly to how mass acts as inertia against the change in momentum of an object, the hume acts as inertia against the
The Interns
I remember half a year ago, in the middle of my senior year of college, scrambling around to figure out what I would do once I graduated. I know I want to pursue a PHD, but I wanted to find some internship to do over the summer, or something to get me some real experience in my major, and planned doctorate field of Theoretical Physics.
I sent out my resume to many places, national labs, government agencies, and private companies. With my academic achievements I felt that I should be able to get at least one of those prestigious internships. I wanted to be able to truly explore my field, do experimentation, maybe even have access to a particle accelerator or some other cutting edge research tools.
I dont know why, but something about the almost blank email caught my eye. It was from some address that was just a long string of letters and numbers, and the email was very plain.
Dear Mr Parsons
Our organization is interested in retaining you for an internship opportunity. Please respond to this email at your earliest convenience, please respond to this email with a convenient time, and we will come to your residence to talk with you about the opportunity.
I replied to the email saying that I would have a free time tommorow in the afternoon.
