Image of Mt. Fuji, the resting place of SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, no physical means of containment are currently possible. Foundation agents stationed at site-██ are to monitor the tectonics around Mt. Fuji. Any individual coming into close proximity to SCP-XXXX's cocoon without necessary protection is to be treated for radiation poisoning and administered class-A amnestics. Public knowledge regarding SCP-XXXX has thus far been suppressed, and further strategies for suppression are in place.
Foundation satellites, along with watchposts and seismographic stations around Mt. Fuji are to constantly monitor the mountain for signs of activity from SCP-XXXX. On site nuclear warheads at site-██ are to remain armed and ready in the event of the awakening of SCP-XXXX.
Should SCP-XXXX leave its dormant state, site-██ warheads are to be detonated. In the event that site-██ warheads fail to cripple or neutralize SCP-XXXX, the Foundation is to engage in Initiative Rockbreaker-2 (See Addendum XXXX: Rockbreaker-2).
Description: SCP-XXXX is a massive, humanoid entity in a dormant state that is currently encased inside of Mt. Fuji. It currently resides in a fetal position and its proportions heavily resemble human body proportions, except its arms are much longer than would be expected, having an arm span to body length ratio of 3:2. Thus far, most data regarding SCP-XXXX has been gathered using thermal and x-ray imaging, along with seismic monitoring.
The outermost layer of Mt. Fuji is composed of many common volcanic minerals, however, the second layer of the mountain, starting on average around 100 meters below any given point on the outer layer, is the start of the "cocoon" of SCP-XXXX that is highly radioactive. The chemical makeup of the cocoon contains 37.6% calcium carbonate, 12.9% plutonium, 8.3% [DATA REDACTED], and 41.2% materials that are either unknown or not native to Earth. SCP-XXXX itself is very loosely encased by this cocoon, being as little as █ meters below the surface of the cocoon in various places.
SCP-XXXX appears to be in a damaged state which forced it to enter a dormant state to regenerate, but what damaged it and how it is able to gather the energy necessary to regenerate with its immense size is unknown, but it is theorized that SCP-XXXX has some sort of internal nutrient recycling mechanism. SCP-XXXX also appears to breathe, however, there are no observable open pathways that can allow it to breathe from the atmosphere and its breathes are not only separated by an average time of ██ weeks, but also cause tremors that can be picked up by seismographs in a 2000 mile radius and can occasionally cause localized earthquakes. "Magma" from Mt. Fuji is not actually molten rock, but a superheated, radioactive fluid of an unknown chemical composition that is speculated to be blood or some other fluid involved in SCP-XXXX's regeneration process. If it is indeed a bodily fluid, then SCP-XXXX may have an inherent resistance to radiation and heat, rendering any warheads used against it in the event of an awakening useless.
SCP-XXXX was first discovered in 19██, when climbers on Mt. Fuji were exposed to severe radiation poisoning and a pattern of increased seismic activity around the mountain sparked a Foundation investigation. An increased pattern of seismic activity originating from the mountain has been noted since the discovery of SCP-XXXX, and has reached a peak since the early 2000's with shifts being detected from SCP-XXXX itself since then. Upon analysis of activity from SCP-XXXX, estimates give a maximum period of 10 years before its awakening, and a minimum period of [REDACTED].
