Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an airtight containment chamber outfitted with a ventilation system connected to a disposal unit. In an instance in which direct access to SCP-XXXX is necessary, personnel are to be equipped with pressurized breathalizers linking to a separate air source not connected to the chamber’s atmosphere. The chamber in which SCP-XXXX is contained in is to be maintained by two armed guards at all times. CCTV systems are to be fastened to the four outer walls of the chamber.
Testing is to be done with authorization from at least one junior researcher. Personnel are not allowed to enter SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber without a breathalizer. Personnel are also restricted from making physical contact with SCP-XXXX unless for testing purposes.
Under no circumstance is SCP-XXXX to be taken out of its containment chamber. Any attempt to do so will result in either an unpaid leave or a reduced security clearance. Any fire source is to be put out before entering SCP-XXXX’s chamber to avoid injury (see description).
Description:
SCP-XXXX was recovered from ██████████, Wisconsin in a run-down house owned by █████ ██████, who was found unconscious within the house due to the effects of SCP-XXXX. █████ ██████ woke up approximately 4 hours later after SCP-XXXX was relocated to Site-██. Subject was given Class B amnesiacs after questioning and released. A small diary was later found in the residence, detailing the events that happened before Foundation recovery when Agent █████ did a thorough clean up of the house (see Addendum XXXX.1).
SCP-XXXX is a brown teddy bear, approximately 0.254m in height with major burns covering its entire body. The bowtie accessory that SCP-XXXX is wearing, has also been party burned away. SCP-XXXX's eyes seem to be slightly misaligned and one of the ears seem more damaged than the other. Despite the external damage done to SCP-XXXX, specimen’s structure has minor damage.
SCP-XXXX is sentient, capable of responding to yes or no questions by a simple nod or shake of the head and using its arms for a variety of emotions. SCP-XXXX is friendly towards personnel and will occasionally wave at them through the CCTV cameras in its containment chamber. Specimen is however incapable of any motor functions like walking around or standing up. This does not stop SCP-XXXX from trying to approach any subject that enters a 3m radius from it.
SCP-XXXX secretes a yellow-greenish mist from its body. This mist consists of chemicals of unknown origin. After chemical testing, one of the chemicals has been identified as a flammable hazard (though this does not affect the health of subjects who may breathe the gas). Subjects who are exposed to this mist without a breathalizer, fall into a vegetative state that causes said subjects to be unresponsive for exactly 24 hours. SCP-XXXX’s mist appears to affect subjects at different speeds, the minimum time recorded being 3 minutes, the maximum being an hour. Physical contact with SCP-XXXX causes subjects to enter a similar state that lasts for 4 days.
Interestingly, when subjects fall asleep due to the effects of touching SCP-XXXX or inhaling the mist that SCP-XXXX produces, specimen will attempt to wake up said subject. This is done by SCP-XXXX attempting to crawl to subjects while emitting a high-pitched noise to alert nearby personnel.
Addendum XXXX.1
At the site of the recovery, a journal possibly belonging to Aaron Clarks, the son of the owner of SCP-XXXX was recovered by Agent █████.
Start of Diary
Entry-1:
Date: February 11, 19██
My dad got this teddy bear for decoration in a package today from one of his ‘friends’. He says he is not old for these types of gifts, but the bear looks even older than he is. It has this sort of old appearance to it, but it always looks happy. I slid it out of the box onto a chair we keep in the corner of the living room. Even though it looks dusty, I feel a strange sense of peace whenever I look at it.
Entry-2:
Date: February 14, 19██
I’m really starting to get creeped out now. Ever since we got that bear, my dad and I have been falling asleep at random times, only to reawaken and then pass out again. Dad says that the bear is cursed and that he says he’s going to get rid of it as soon as possible. I can only feel sorry for the bear yet this feeling is strange for it does not feel like its from me.
Entry-3:
Date: February 15, 19██
Well, this is the day. My dad said he has “had enough of the random smell and pass outs every now and then,” I tried to reason in keeping the bear a bit more but he would not listen. As soon as he grabbed the bear and chucked it into the fire though, he suddenly passed out while the bear went headfirst into the flames. I don't know what was on that bear because there was a large flash the second it touched the fire. I am on the ground wile writing this. I can’t feel anything.. But I’m going to try and crawl to get help. I see the bear somehow still intact, just sadly looking at me… I'm going to try and find help-
[the rest of the entry has been burned away]
End of Diary
A few days after Entry-3, Aaron Clarks was spotted approximately 30km away from the Clarks residence, lying in a grassy plain on the outskirts of the town. Having suffered minor burns and several broken ribs, Aaron was given immediate medical attention and flown to a nearby hospital. Foundation personnel stationed in the town were dispatched to said residence 2 hours after Aaron's discovery. Investigation is currently underway to find the original owner of SCP-XXXX.
Addendum XXXX.2:
After testing ways to undo the vegetative state that SCP-XXXX causes, Dr. █████ has discovered that one (1) instance of SCP-500-1 can instantly resuscitate subjects affected by SCP-XXXX. Request from Dr. █████ to O5 Council to put at least two (2) instances SCP-500-1 per medical kit near SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber is pending.
