SCP-4089 “Infant Star”

Item: SCP-4089

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The object is to be contained within a room of dimensions 6m x 6m x 6m, and steel walls of thickness 20cm. Any personnel entering the containment chamber of the entity must be wearing light-dampening glasses so as to not be blinded by the object. If the entity ceases to crash into a wall of its enclosure approximately once every 3 weeks, the site manager must be alerted at once, as this lack of activity means that the item will shortly become SCP-4089-1, a miniature black hole. In this form, the item will attempt to "inhale" other objects, including the walls of its enclosure. Fortunately, the force with which it pulls other objects into itself is very weak, being just 5N. However, if left alone for an extended period of time in this state, SCP-4089-1 could potentially cause a containment breach. Containment Procedure 776-Mesa must be put into place as soon as possible if this occurs.

Containment Procedure 776-Mesa requires a group of 3-4 D-Class personnel with singing ability to sing "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star" to SCP-4089-1 until it reverts into a miniature star once again.

Description: The object is, seemingly, a small star that levitates approximately 3 metres above the ground. The object emits a white light that can immediately blind any personnel who view the entity without special light-dampening glasses. Photographs taken of the entity, whether taken on a traditional camera such as a Polaroid, or on a modern smartphone camera, produce a blank white (#FFFFFF) image.

The object has not exhibited any signs of aggression, nor any signs of sentience, although an unusual noise can be heard from its containment chamber, and personnel who have observed the object remarked that the noise seems to emanate from the entity repeatedly moving around and crashing into the sides of its chamber. This is due to the event described in the following paragraph, which occurs approximately once every 3 weeks.

The entity will occasionally make a sound vaguely reminiscent of a newborn human child crying. This is followed by the object moving faster than normal and crashing into the sides of its containment chamber. This is normal, and should not be considered otherwise, however alarming it may seem. It is unknown as to why the entity goes through phases of different types of activity such as the examples described above, and there is no information as to why it emits a noise similar to an infant child, although Dr. █████ has speculated that the object may, itself, be a newborn of some unknown alien race. If the item is not observed to be following the general pattern of crashing into the side of this container once every 3 weeks, the site manager must be alerted at once, as there is a high chance of the entity collapsing into what seems to be a miniature black hole, designated SCP-4089-1. If this occurs, Containment Procedure 776-Mesa, as described above, must be put into place.

Addendum: The item is thought to have originated from Roswell, New Mexico. Dr. █████ suggested that the entity may have crashed on Earth in the infamous Roswell incident in 1947. The object was captured by MTF "Starry Knights” on June 7th, 2005. One newspaper article in 1978 referenced a "Mini-Sun" that had been found outside an apartment block in Newcastle, England. This suggests that the item somehow travelled across the Atlantic Ocean and was in the United Kingdom and possibly other parts of Europe as well, although it is unknown how this could have happened, as there is a general lack of information on the activity of the object between when it was theorised to have first landed and when it was captured by MTF "Starry Knights", possibly due to cover-ups by the government of the United States of America.
