Secure Containment Procedures:

Item SCP-XXXX is currently kept in a secure locker at Site-88. All experimentation utilizing SCP-XXXX is to be performed only on personnel who experience high amounts of beta-1 wave frequency during sleep (often associated with lucid dreaming).

Should no such individuals be readily available, use of Galantamine1 (8 mg dosage) may be administered by qualified staff. Due to considerable side effects of Galantamine, this is not to be considered unless no individuals who suit the above criteria are readily available.

Description:
Item SCP-XXXX is a sheet of wool fabric measuring 1.1 meters by 12 centimeters, composed primarily of Mouflon wool and multiple dyes which have faded since SCP-XXXX’s manufacture. Chemical analysis indicates that the dyes are primarily anthocyanins, likely originating from mulberries.

Dating of item SCP-XXXX has proven difficult, as some sections have been sewn on as recently as the late 1800’s. The earliest sections known are dated to the 2nd century BCE.

Further spectrographical analysis has shown script written on both sides of SCP-XXXX. Side A of SCP-XXXX has several paragraphs written in an untranslated language. The script itself possesses features which indicate a familial relation to Old Italic Scripts, notably Etruscan and Venetic, however some relation to Northern European Scripts is likewise possible.

Side B of SCP-XXXX possesses the sequence of words "love - nothing - hate" (or other semantically equivalent phrases) written in 124 different known languages, as well as fragments written in unknown scripts, which are assumed to translate similarly.

Latent anomalous properties are known to occur if SCP-XXXX is worn by subjects who meet the following criteria:

  • Subject reports having lucid dreams
  • Subject has been administered Galantamine
  • Subject has previously utilized SCP-XXXX and meets one of the above criteria

Should a subject who meets any of the above criteria wear SCP-XXXX over their head while sleeping, SCP-XXXX will cause the subject’s brain wave patterns to shift from the standard 4-6 ultradian cycles, each lasting roughly 1.5 hours, to experiencing only 3 ultradian sleep cycles, each of which was nearly three hours.

Subjects also report vivid lucid dreaming, which intensifies with repeated use of SCP-XXXX, as well as with administration of Melatonin. Subjects who meet more than one of the above criteria will report more clear descriptions of the contents of said dreams, and all subjects are known to report dreams which follow a similar structure, interviews are described below.

Upon awakening, subjects will experience anomalous discoloration, which seems to be proportional to the vividity of the dreams generated by SCP-XXXX. This discoloration appears similar to subdermal bruising, however no physical symptoms of subdermal bruising are known to occur.

Recovery:

Foundation and GOC operatives embedded in Florence, Italy became aware of an anomalous art group showcase, calling themselves “l'opera delle porte.” The anart group was headquartered in an abandoned theater located in Trespiano, immediately north of site 812. The showcase had been widely publicized by local newspapers and television media, and was predicted to have as many as 500 individuals in attendance.

The given showcase was prevented by a coordinated raid on the aforementioned theater . The anart organization had apparently become aware of the oncoming raid, and had pre-emptively evacuated their hideout, and lit the theater on fire. At the time the Foundation arrived, the remnants of the showcase were unrecognizable, save basic structures.

In the greenroom of the theater, however, five individuals were found, four of which were captured by GOC operatives and remain in the custody of the GOC. The fifth individual, identified to be the assumed leader of the anart organization.

Said leader was found dead, laying prone on the floor of the room, with a cable tied around his neck and maroon discoloration across his body. An autopsy conducted by the Foundation confirmed that the likely cause of death was asphyxiation, and no cause was found for the discoloration, which was similar in appearance to subdermal bruising, however no such bruising was present.

On his person was found a non-anomalous dream journal, detailing reports of dreams while sleeping with SCP-XXXX worn around his head. Communication between GOC and Foundation personnel indicated that members of the anart organization had been utilizing SCP-XXXX to aid in the creation of anomalous art, specifically by wearing SCP-XXXX over the head while sleeping, producing vivid dreams in the subject.

Following recovery, four D-Class subjects were utilized for testing of SCP-XXXX [see attached file].
