All they told us was that they were testing a new "method" but we had no idea what they were talking about. We're D Class, just expendable nobodies, of course they wouldn't tell us anything more, why would they? Still would've been nice to know something other than, "We're testing a new method, take notes of what happens". But our reassurance doesn't matter to them so of course, we went into it blind. We arrived in a chopper, I'm sure it has a code name or something but I wouldn't know what it is. All in all, there were 7 of us, 6 of which from what I knew we're human, the seventh… I'm not sure what it was. It looked human of course but I could tell it wasn't, probably because of that ball that followed it around. 5 of us were D class, the other person was someone important, I know because he wasn't wearing the bright suits they make us D's wear. He looked like an agent, dressed like one at least, though if he was an agent then where was the doctor? There's always a doctor when we do experiments. I didn't think much of it during the time but looking back now I think he could put most of the doctors to shame. There was something in his eyes, some kind of fire that only smart people have, like his focus was razor-sharp all of the time… I'm sure the foundation has realized he's useful by now so I don't understand why they would have him as an agent.
We landed in a grass field though it was cold, maybe Ireland? Shoot it could've been Iceland for all I knew, after all, we did sleep in the helicopter. I just knew that it wasn't normal. As soon as we stepped foot on that grass I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. The only D I knew there was Jacob, we've worked together before. I told him about the bad feeling I had and he said he felt the same but no one else there seemed concerned, or at least they were pretty good at hiding it. Jacob made a joke to me about it, he's always like that, trying to find a way to make it positive, even if he knew nobody there was gonna laugh except for me, and even I was hesitant. At least we all reacted, that fake human that was with us didn't even seem to notice, It's like we didn't exist to him. The only sounds he made were the ones acknowledging what that agent guy said to him.
After we had all been walking for a while we arrived at what looked like a cave, except that its walls were smooth and covered in grass, the same grass that continued into it from the outside as if it wasn't a hole at all but instead a small divot in the ground or something. The grass field seemed to continue for at least a mile in each direction, though I'm sure the Foundation would rather I say kilometer, I'm American so I'll measure it how I want to. All of us D's were of course not expecting this but after being in the Foundation for long enough nobody was surprised or concerned, this was actually pretty tame compared to other things I've seen.
A team of 2 people was already waiting there when we arrived and had set up a rope system to lower us into the hole. We all accepted it instantly, we knew we couldn't ignore the Foundation, no matter what the orders were. If only we could say no just this once, but we couldn't. So we went in… it was…. strange inside there to say the least. The grass walls around us turned into some kind of white stone, maybe marble, out of nowhere, yet it didn't feel like an artificial room, it felt… natural, like an anthill. After descending for what felt like an eternity it finally opened up and, I saw something that shook me… The open almost entirely smooth room had two mechanisms resembling crossbows made out of a different substance hanging from the ceiling, which a manmade rope attached to them. It wasn't these that confused me, it was what they were… doing. Both had a long metal cable stretching towards the center of the room where they had long… spikes on the end, they looked like harpoons but were made out of a material I couldn't recognize, they were glowing and had various symbols I didn't recognize on them.
This still isn't the main thing, what I saw that I could not look away from was what the crossbows were piercing, a giant monster with mandibles and tusks, it looked like a gigantic pig-human-Aligator-dragon hybrid, I had seen things visually worse but seeing this was different, It sent a powerful chill down my spine. I immediately knew that the only thing that was keeping it from killing us right then and there were those harpoon things, whatever they were made out of was holding it asleep. To my dismay when I finally managed to look away from it I saw that agent pulling the rope that I mentioned earlier. I already knew in my heart what that meant. I watched in horror as a slow clicking sound was made, the spikes were being pulled out of that thing, retracting into the tools that I can only assume launched them. I heard the creaking of aching muscles as I watched that thing stand up, the almost human that came with us was standing directly in front of it. I heard a low bellow that shook all of our surroundings, I and the other D's had been taking notes but all of us stopped at this… As soon as that thing was awake I could feel it watching me despite not being turned to look at me, I turned and made a movement towards us before a flash of light was visible and there was a hole in the thing's arm. The almost-human had attacked with that little floating ball and done damage to it! I suddenly realized the purpose of this test, we were here to see the amount of collateral damage that would happen, we were the collateral damage… My peers realized this alongside me and we all backed away slowly, that thing and the almost human were fighting brutally, the discolored blood leaking out of the thing splattered the white ground as booms and screams were audible the entire time. Though the almost human took hit after hit from that thing's swinging gigantic arms and even got pierced by one of its tusks he kept going, seemingly undeterred by what should have been fatal injuries. The thing broke some of the white stone this place was made out of and slammed it down onto the almost human, who seemingly fell unconscious. After this it let out a roar that shook me to my core and rammed into one of my peers, piercing him with its tusks, before grabbing two more of them and ripping them apart with almost no effort at all, the ceiling was about to fall seemingly, my face was coated with blood, I ran away as fast as I could along with the only other D left but that thing easily reached out and grabbed him, slamming him into the ground with a sickening crunch, I almost threw up but resisted so I could continue running, I had just watched 4 of the only people here who I could consider anything close to friends murdered in the blink of an eye, and it wanted me next. I was backed into a corner when suddenly a human hand burst through that things chest, pulling it back and throwing it against the opposite wall, the almost human was awake, and he looked… serious… as if he had gotten pissed off. He held his hand outstretched and that floating ball morphed, growing to the size of the thing and flying towards it. I heard what could only be described as a scream of terror come from the things as it was engulfed in light, in a couple of seconds it went completely silent, and there was a hole going all the way to the surface from behind where the thing had once been, the almost human sighed and cracked his neck as if this was just routine for him. The only evidence of what had happened here was the damage to the room and the blood splattered across the room and all over me. The agent walked into my field of view and outstretched his hand, I couldn't read him from his expression, he seemed both excited and sad at the same time, either way, it was a lot more than a normal agent would do so I pushed those horrible moments just passed out of my mind and took his hand, letting him help me up. I shivered and he wiped his now bloody hand on his leg, the almost human was uninjured despite having been stabbed and smashed multiple times, I can only assume he has some method of healing himself. My hands were shaking and I couldn't think straight, everything after that was a blur, that almost huma- no, that thing had killed something that could have ended humanity… I know that if he hadn't done it in one attack the thing would have kept coming back again and again. I'm sure I'll be killed after writing this to make sure that the secrets of whatever this is don't get out, me and the others who died were nothing but damage sensors to know if it would be too big of a conflict to repeat…I'm sure this isn't' the last time they will do something like this, I only hope they don't sacrifice more to achieve whatever this is for…
