Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8878 is to be contained in a surface-level modified 2x2x2 (meter) Humanoid Containment Chamber, accessible via elevator located in the Light Containment Zone of Site 33. The chamber is to be outfitted with a motorized ceiling, capable of fully retracting to expose the sky during moonlight hours. The chamber is to be illuminated with fluorescent lights at all times, except during testing and communication. During cleaning, the output of the chambers fluorescent lights are to be maximised to prevent interaction between facilitation staff and SCP-8878. SCP-8878s chambers are to be outfitted with infrared cameras to monitor SCP-8878s actions during the daylight hours. SCP-8878s chambers are to only be staffed by individuals who are attracted to the opposite gender of SCP-8878.
Description: SCP-8878 is a humanoid figure, approximately 150cm in height. SCP-8878 is typically visually personified as a slender woman, with long white hair. SCP-8878 is completely transparent when exposed to light of any kind (except for light reflected off the moon, or from stars, during the moonlight hours). When exposed to the night sky, SCP-8878 becomes visible, the anomalys visibility affected by the amount of stars in the sky. Similarly, SCP-8878s intelligence is also dependant on the same factor, SCP-8878 only displaying basic functionality during a clear night, but displaying increased intelligence when more stars are visible. SCP-8878 is also affected by the cloud cover, struggling to become visible when the night sky is covered.
SCP-8878 displays the basic intention to move north, yet lacks the understanding as of why. SCP-8878s intention to move north is also affected by the amount of nighttime light hitting SCP-8878. When SCP-8878 is completely invisible to the naked eye, they are rendered inert, incapable of movement. When SCP-8878 is completely opaque, the anomaly displays the ability, and need to move north. When SCP-8878 is rendered inert, it is still visible through infrared sensors or Structured Light Sensors (SLS). When SCP-8878 becomes unable to move in any direction, either due to physical obstacles or terrain, SCP-8878 will begin to become distraught.
Individuals who experience attraction to the female sex will become strongly attached to SCP-8878 during its active state. Subjects will begin to search nightly for SCP-8878, even if aware of SCP-8878s contained state. Subjects, upon viewing SCP-8878, will begin to attempt to verbally communicate with SCP-8878, typically receiving no response from SCP-8878. SCP-8878 will begin to slowly become transparent to the subject, yet still visible to all other individuals, causing subjects to become distraught. Subjects typically commit suicide 1-2 weeks after interacting with SCP-8878. SCP-8878 appears to be unaware of this effect.
Origin: SCP-8878 was discovered by Foundation agents following a string of suicides on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan, in 1990. SCP-8878 was captured by the Foundation in 2009 due to its difficulty to contain and anomalous effects. Approximately ██ agents were treated with Class-B amnestics due to SCP-8878s anomalous effect. To date, it is approximated that ███ suicides are linked to SCP-8878s anomalous effects. SCP-8878 was contained in by the Japanese branch of the SCP Foundation until its transfer to Site 33 in 20██.
