Item #: SCP-2615

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The object must remain in a code locked safe.

Description: The object is a 45.72 centimeter long stainless steel beaded necklace. The first known siting of the object was on October 28th, 2006. It was spotted at the suicide of █████ after he hung himself in his home, and only became active after his death. If worn, the object is irremovable and slowly tightens around the user's neck, like a noose, until around 48 hours after the wearer has put it on, then it proceeds to return to its initial size. This results in death, and on occasion, full or partial decapitation. As long as the object is not worn around the neck, its is completely harmless.

Addendum: The object only has 2 known fatalities, one being a thief named █████, the other being that of a d-class personal known as SCP-2615-1.

The thief stole the object from the mother of the original owner after breaking into her home. He seemed to have taken the necklace for himself, but about 16 hours after the crime had taken place, the thief was found dead inside his car after losing control and crashing. The crash knocked him unconscious and the necklace proceeded to crush his wind pipe, resulting in his death.

SCP-2615-1 was equipped with the object and left for 48 hours alone in a cell with food, water, and books and was interviewed every 7 hours. Unknowing of the objects effect, he carried on doing normal activities as the object slowly shrunk. The entire time he was being observed through a one-way window, which seemed to be a mirror in the cell.

13 hours in, doctors watching over SCP-2615-1 noticed him pulling at the necklace, attempting to remove it. During the next interview, he continued to yawn periodically. He also seemed confused, as if he forgot what was going on. At the 15th hour, he collapsed dead on the floor of his cell, but the doctors left him there to see the effects on the body the necklace caused after death. Once the full 48 hours was over, the necklace returned to normal, and the body was inspected. The corpse was partial decapitated from the front and the neck was broken.
