Hello there,
I've just recently joined this site and I'll be trying out a few story ideas.
Any recommendations / criticisms are welcome and even encouraged as I'm not completely familiar with this format or the specifics regarding lore / history of the Foundation.
Thank you!
Item #: SCP-3778
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: All captured instances of SCP-3778 are currently housed in separate humanoid containment cells at Site-23. These cells are to be 1.82 x 2.44 m with a standard bed, table, chair, and light source. The door to this cell shall be heavily reinforced and air-tight. Beyond this door there will be a mediation room, with yet another reinforced and air-tight door, containing a table and chair where SCP-3778 will be expected to take its meals at set times. SCP-3778 is allowed to request any reading materials / novelties to be left in the mediation room. The granting of such novelties is left to the discretion of the lead researcher overseeing said instance of SCP-3778. The ventilation system for each instance of SCP-3778 will need to be entirely isolated from the Site system and also equipped with a means to chemically incapacitate SCP-3778 should it attempt to use its anomalous properties in any manner. Should such an event occur, one of the subsequent copies of SCP-3778 is to be immediately retrieved, terminated, and incinerated leaving the other one alive unless otherwise instructed by the lead researcher.
Any instances of SCP-3778 discovered off-site, by personnel not actively seeking a new test sample, are to be terminated immediately. In the event that the retrieval of a newer instance of SCP-3778 is deemed necessary, a task force of Class D personnel is to be assembled and made minimally aware of factors concerning SCP-3778 which might complicate its capture. Further detail concerning such procedures and methodology are contained in Document 3778-A. All captured instances of SCP-3778 are to remain within the Retainer (as explained in Document 3778-A) until said instance is transported to Site-23.
Description: SCP-3778 appears to be a human male in his mid to late 30's. SCP-3778 is able to create an identical copy of himself through a process not dissimilar to that of cell mitosis. The process takes approximately 7 minutes, during which time SCP-3778 remains in an almost comatose mental state while its body stretches and writhes to accommodate the creation of the copy. Intervention during this stage is preferred as SCP-3778 will remain in its comatose state so long as full severance is not achieved. This process does not require excessive force to be hindered and can be effectively delayed with simple durable and tight fitting garments. This limitation of SCP-3778's anomalous properties form the basis for its capture protocol and are likely the reason that SCP-3778 tends to remain fully nude. Upon full severance of the two instances of SCP-3778 both will begin to regain consciousness with all memories and abilities of SCP-3778 intact. The two copies show no mental connection beyond verbal communication and have, as of yet, shown no concern as to which of them is the original. SCP-3778 instead prefers to think of itself and its associated collective as equal "progenitors of perfection."
Beyond it's ability to self-replicate SCP-3778 shows physical ability in line with that of its humanoid form. SCP-3778 has, as of yet, shown little hostility toward the humans it has interacted with preferring instead to flee and hide in the wilderness. It has been upon thorough questioning at Site-23 that SCP-3778's goals have been obtained. SCP-3778 seems to think of itself as a perfect model for reproduction and the next step in human evolution but SCP-3778 is mentally unstable and coercion of these ideals is a proven possibility. SCP-3778 does pose a potential threat to the populace if its numbers are left unchecked (See Operation Infin-Iscariot for details as to current Foundation efforts at reducing these numbers). While SCP-3778 does currently pose a potential threat to the populace and ecosystem of the areas it occupies, it has been shown that each clone is subject to the same progression of aging present in the original. As such, SCP-3778's lack of full containment is at worst a temporary problem for the foundation as all potential instances of SCP-3778 are projected to die sometime before 20██.
Subsequent DNA testing and cross referencing of genomic databases has revealed that SCP-3778 contains DNA matching that of ████████ ███████ aged ██ currently residing in ███████, ██. Mr. ███████ is an active member in his community, currently running for a local political office, and showing none of the obvious delusions characteristic of SCP-3778. While it is believed that Mr. ███████ possesses abilities comparable to that of SCP-3778 he shows no obvious usage of these abilities. It is the current position of the Foundation that Mr. ███████ not be treated as an instance of SCP-3778 but as a related PoI to remain under constant surveillance. This decision is still a subject of active debate among higher Foundation officials.
Brief Summary of Operation Infin-IscariotInitial efforts to reduce SCP-3778's population size through multiple Class D task forces, aimed at purging SCP-3778 from specific areas of concentration, have proven somewhat effective yet unrealistic in the long term. As these more traditional methods have proven unreliable, the Foundation has undergone efforts to create a Thaumiel class instance of SCP-3778. The mental instability of SCP-3778 has proven a great asset in these efforts. Researchers at Site-23 have developed a methodology of mental and physical coercion that can convince an instance of SCP-3778 to essentially self-eradicate. These instances of SCP-3778, preferably taken from the areas they are meant to target, use their inherent knowledge of SCP-3778 to track and destroy all instances of it in a given area. Pending the conclusion of these operations all Thaumiel class instances simply need be made aware of the fact that they themselves are instances of SCP-3778 and they will immediately proceed to self-terminate. These efforts have proven highly effective when tested in small localized groups and larger scale efforts are currently underway.
